Removing and replacing the fuel filter on a VAZ 2112 with a threaded connection is performed in the following order:
- We drive the car into a pit or overpass
- We slow down (fix) the car using the handbrake (parking brake) and engage neutral gear
- Removing the cushion from the rear seat
- Unscrew the two screws securing the hatch cover located above the fuel tank and remove it
- We disconnect the block with the wiring of the VAZ fuel pump from the main wiring harness, while squeezing the plastic latch
- We start the engine and let it run until it stops completely due to the production of gasoline in the fuel system
- Then run the starter for about three seconds
- After this procedure, you can safely disassemble the fuel system and remove the filter.
Attention: Upon completion of work, do not forget to reconnect the block with the fuel pump wiring to the main wiring harness
Now you can safely remove the filter without fear of dousing yourself in gasoline from head to toe:
- Now disconnect the car battery
- We do this to prevent accidental activation of the fuel pump, and to avoid fuel ignition from an accidental spark.
- At the time of replacement, the old element already looks unusable and should definitely be removed
- Its fastenings have long since dried up, so we immediately use WD-40 (liquid wrench) to make them easier to unscrew.
- Then, after letting it cool a little, we hold the filter itself with the key set to “19”, and with the key set to “17” we unscrew the fitting, and gradually bleed the gasoline into a container prepared in advance
- After this, we proceed to removing the bolt securing the filter housing

- Then we install a new one and fasten it in the reverse order.
- Connect the battery and start the car

Replacing the fuel filter on a VAZ 21124 with fasteners in the form of wire earrings is performed in the following sequence:
- Relieve the pressure in the fuel line, as in the previous article
- Disconnecting the battery
- Press the spring clamp (earring) with your fingers
- Then, holding the latch in this position, remove the entire connecting tip of the fuel pipe from the outlet pipe of the gasoline filter.
Warning: Be sure to place a container prepared in advance for draining gasoline under the tips.
- The connecting tip is removed from the inlet pipe of the fuel filter pipe in the same way.
- Using a “10” wrench, unscrew the coupling bolt of the clamp securing the fuel filter
- We take out our filter from the clamp
- Then install the new one in reverse order.
Warning: Be sure to pay attention to the arrow on the housing indicating the direction of fuel flow. On Zhiguli cars with engines 2111 - 2112 it should be directed directly to the left side, and on cars with engines 21114 - 21124 - to the right side.
Warning: After completing the installation of the fuel filter, be sure to check with the engine running that there are no gasoline leaks in the connections of the fuel filter with the fuel pipes; if necessary, repeat the procedure for connecting the pipes until they are completely and securely fixed.
