When to change
Before “Daewoo Matiz” you should pay attention to the mileage. The first time you will need to do this is after 40 thousand kilometers. In the future, a change can be made every 70 thousand. It is also recommended to check the condition of the automatic transmission. This is done in a few simple steps:
- release the handbrake by pressing the brake pedal all the way;
- move the switch lever to all possible positions.
There should be no extraneous sounds or shocks during the test. If they are, then this is already a reason to change the automatic transmission, since the existing parts are already very worn out. In the case when everything works fine, but you experience difficulty in driving, you need to change the transmission oil.
Checking the oil level and condition
Before changing the oil, the first thing to do is check the level. This is done simply:
- Place the car on a flat surface. Do not turn off the engine.
- Use a white cloth to wipe the dipstick.
If a trace of a bright light shade of red remains on it, then the lubricant life is high. This also signals that all gearbox elements are in good condition. If small black particles and a dark color appear on the rag, it is time to urgently change the oil. Otherwise, in the near future, the expensive automatic transmission will stop working and, most likely, will break down. Also check the oil level using the dipstick. If it is higher than the maximum, then remove the excess. A large amount can lead to carbon deposits on the entire Daewoo Matiz transmission. Also, keep the level low. In this case, the lubricant resource is simply not enough for the car. Try to avoid critical conditions.
Failure to follow simple rules will lead to rapid breakdown of the automatic transmission. And repairs are far from the cheapest. Calling a car service will significantly impact your wallet.
What is better to choose
Choosing oil is an important step for every driver. If the product does not match a specific car, there is a risk of aggravating the situation. The most common products are:
- Castrol tlx 988D;
- Ravenol.
In fact, you can choose almost any oil. The main evaluation criterion is the availability of certification and GOST. Be sure to review the product you are purchasing for availability. Unverified manufacturers offer cheap products, but they are the ones that can harm Matiz even more.
the recommended oil “ESSO JWS 3314” was indicated on the dipstick. Most often, drivers do not take this recommendation into account. It is best to choose the products presented above. But this oil also works well and shows good results when working in a Matiz automatic transmission. The manufacturer also recommends following the standards that are checked with a probe. But this is already a public fact that every driver follows, regardless of the model of his car.
A really worthwhile tip is to completely change the lubricant. It is produced to completely displace the old used one and replace it with a new one. This helps improve transmission performance and restore performance to values close to factory specifications. You just need to take into account that for the complete change procedure you will need an oil cooler. The manufacturer does not supply it with the car. In car repair shops, prices are rising every year, and a radiator is purchased once for the entire time.
Preparing for replacement
SEAT Toledo Temperamental Volks Logbook Replacing fifth gear gears 5-speed manual transmission SEAT, Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda A5 platform
First of all, the motorist will need to purchase lubricating fluid and a gearbox cover gasket. If the part cannot be found for certain reasons, it is worth acquiring a special silicone sealant. Many people are interested in the question: how much should be poured, and which product to choose? To replace, you should purchase 2 liters of lubricant.
For the vehicle model in question, the manufacturer recommends using oil marked SAE 80W GL-4 if the vehicle is operated under optimal conditions. For regular use at low temperatures, it is worth filling with 75W-90 GL-4.
Choosing a car oil suitable for replacement is quite simple. The manufacturer allows the use of both synthetic and mineral substances in the gearbox. The first option is more preferable in terms of quality, but has a high cost. It is recommended to use a synthetic or semi-synthetic substance designated 75W80, 80W85, 75W-90 and GL-4. When deciding which one is worth buying and how much you need, you should also trust experienced drivers. Based on their reviews, we can say that the optimal purchase would be synthetic products that have a volume of 2 liters.
Bottom line
To summarize, we can say that changing the oil in a Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission is not a complicated process. It is recommended to perform the procedure regularly. This will help get rid of annoying noise and improve handling.
Daewoo Matiz - love at first sight. Cars have no prejudices; each car is a set of advantages and a baggage of disadvantages. And the advantages of Matiz are colossal! All cars are the embodiment of engineering. And the people who painstakingly developed component parts and calculated a large number of physical parameters, trying to maintain a balance between reliability and cost, hardly expected that the car would be called a lady's car or brutal, categorized as luxurious or a matter of whims.
With a range of forty thousand kilometers, a Daewoo Matiz is necessary. Experts recommend taking a close look at the automatic gearbox.
The engineers have tears in their eyes, but they need to look at it differently. For a driver who is not keen on independently maintaining the car, the automatic transmission is a gear selection lever, it is a selector, on the center console in the cabin. This may be the tip of the iceberg, but from the top you can see a lot.
If the car did not show symptoms of malaise, to strengthen your understanding of the technical serviceability of the vehicle, check the operation of the gearbox.

How often does an oil change need to be made?
To begin with, we suggest you sort out the question of when to change and fill new fluid into a manual transmission of a Daewoo Nexia 150 2011 or another year of manufacture. According to official data from the automobile manufacturer, the oil initially poured into the transmission at the factory must be used throughout the entire life of the vehicle. But the manufacturer also does not specify what the specific service life of the car should be. Therefore, the car owner will not be able to check whether this resource has expired or not.
Nexia gearbox
In order to prevent serious malfunctions in the operation of the Daewoo Nexia gearbox and avoid large financial costs, it is recommended to change the transmission oil after 100-150 thousand kilometers.
Or every 7-10 years. If there are malfunctions in the operation of the unit or difficulties with switching speeds, the fluid can be changed earlier. The best option is to replace it every 100 thousand kilometers.
Test No. 1
Let's proceed to one of the methods for checking the Matiz gearbox:
- We start the engine, confidently press the brake pedal all the way, and release the handbrake.
- Then, move the selector lever one by one to all positions.
- From mode “P” (parking) to mode “R” (reverse - moving backward), or when switching from mode “N” (neutral - no gear is occupied) to mode “D4” (drive - moving forward with sequential connection).
When the gear is engaged, there should be no shocks; loud, harsh sounds that frighten the timid driver should not be heard from somewhere in the depths of the car. The tachometer needle should sway slightly in the wake of the new gear and freeze at the new value; the engine will raise the tone of a contented rumbling, demonstrating the tractability and serviceability of the systems.
A similar check is carried out on a flat surface of the parking space.
WARNING: During road tests, do not take your eyes off the road for more than half a second!
Test No. 2
The second method is designed to check the gearbox:
- Let's hit the road in the Daewoo Matiz. Select “D” and move away from the parking area onto a flat road with the least traffic.
- At the beginning of the movement, smoothly press the gas pedal, each time by ear, or by the tachometer needle, determining when the gear shift occurs, and try to remember the shift intervals and the position of the needle.
- Then stop and start moving again, pressing the pedal so that you approach the moment of shifting more slowly, delaying the engagement of the next gear.
Do we see any jerks or suspicious sounds? On to the next test!
Test No. 3
Let's remember driving school and play manual transmission on an automatic machine.
- Press the “OverDrive” button on the selector, the “O/D OFF” sign will light up on the instrument panel.
- Let’s start driving by moving the lever to the “L” position, smoothly raising the engine speed while driving until the car begins to buzz diligently and ask for the next gear (tachometer value is around 3000 rpm).
- Let's move the lever to position 2 and raise the speed, resolving the desire of the gearbox by switching to “D4”.
- And for the last time, having gained a buzzing speed, we press the button on the selector, allowing the Matiz to rush at high speed.
Did the gears shift as if someone was holding the car by the rear bumper and letting go as you moved the lever? However, no irritating factors were found. Great, last road test left!
Test No. 5
And now the last of the proposed tests:
- Let's park the car on a level surface and open the hood, leaving the engine on.
- It's time to look at the transmission fluid (gearbox oil). All you need: a clean white rag.
- Let's take out the gearbox dipstick (in the engine compartment, there are two dipsticks and you don't need the one that is used to check the oil in the engine) and wipe it with a cloth. Notice the color the liquid left on the fabric. The lighter and more pronounced the red tint of the oil, the more resource the fluid has left for lubricating and preserving automatic transmission elements. If there are still small particles in the stain on the rag, if the stain is dark brown or black, it means that the fluid life is short and further use can lead to an accident in the unit.
- Let’s insert the dipstick back into the guide tube, sit in the driver’s seat and, at intervals of 3 seconds, from gear “L”, alternately move the selector to the “P” value, and then remove the dipstick for control measurements of the oil level. The lower part of the dipstick should be wetted with transmission fluid, the wetting limit indicates the current level, which is between the “min” and “max” values (ideally, not lower than the middle of the segment between the marks).
If the level is abnormal, add oil or get rid of excess.
If, based on the test results, you think that the car behaved uncharacteristically, shifting gears was accompanied by unpleasant sounds and constant sharp jolts, or the automatic delayed shifting gears, going through the gears to decide which gear would go next, the gearbox needs help.
Effective help is to replace the transmission fluid. The manufacturer claims that the automatic transmission oil does not require replacement and is designed for the entire life of the vehicle, but who should you believe more, the facts or the words of the manufacturer?
History of Nexia
This Korean middle-class car was presented to the public in 1986. The development was carried out by German specialists (). The car was created on the basis of the Opel Kadett E, which was widespread at that time. "Nexia" began to be produced for residents of developing countries. Since 1995, cars have become available to citizens of the former Soviet Union. By the way, this car is known to Korean residents under the name “Daewoo Cielo”.
However, compare the product. This is a significant difference in viscosity, and it is not surprising that it causes problems in the sorting that the interviewer writes. The power also has enough potential to lubricate a manual transmission. Moreover, its price is very favorable.
Most mechanics don't know how to change oil, or not many—many of them maintain a maniac's insistence—that the oil doesn't change. Half the pain is if the mechanic realizes the need for an oil change is because he isn't very familiar with it. Our main motto regarding the age of the car is “Eleven years approved” - so if you want to know how to change the oil in a modern box - no problem - wait ten years. Therefore, for the wallpaper we will take gearboxes used in the eighties and early nineties.
Ergonomics of Daewoo Nexia
The car stood out, first of all, for its low price. It cost no more than Russian front-wheel drive VAZs. The car was quite reliable, unpretentious in use, was ahead of Russian cars in terms of these characteristics and was not inferior to imported middle-class models. Replacing broken parts was easy due to their availability. All this explains the ubiquity of this machine.
The first step is to drain the oil from the oil pan. Unscrew the cap in the bowl and drain as much oil as you can. It will drop about two and a half liters. Then screw the cap back and unscrew the oil pan. Carefully remove the bowl and place it on the oil pan.
We pour everything out of the bowl and start cleaning the slurry bowl. Be careful not to lose the magnet that should be at the bottom of the bowl - if there is none, place the magnet in the furniture. We clean the bowl down to the work of art and dry it. Step two - unscrew the oil filter.
However, Nexia gradually began to lose ground. The last car of this model was released four years ago. After this, the Korean manufacturer began producing the Daewoo Gentra.
Fluid replacement
This problem can be solved simply: believe in your strength, be patient and do not give in to circumstances, your Daewoo Matiz needs you, and you will not let it down!
Choice
On the dipstick, besides the level marks, were there any other symbols? If there were, then this is the type of oil recommended by the manufacturer, or your dipstick is scratched. The manufacturer’s website doesn’t say anything about ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid), the operating instructions say “esso jws 3314”, but we recommend:
- DEXRON II or III from any manufacturer;
- MERCON M;
- CASTROL TLX 988D;
- RAVENOL.
Let's tell you a secret: all oils are good, choose according to your taste! Be guided by oil tolerances, cost and popularity of the brand; the most advertised oils are often counterfeited by scammers. We recommend purchasing “Dextron III”, in a volume of 5 liters, from a trusted seller and inspecting the purchase before paying.
Tools and accessories
To change the gearbox oil you will need:
- ring wrenches or ratchet wrenches with 8 and 10 mm heads, as well as an adapter with a square section (square slot, Robertson slot) with a side of 3/8 inch (9.5 mm);
- a funnel with a narrow neck, a guide for the tube;
- two canisters with a capacity of 5 liters each;
- transmission fluid 5 liters (automatic transmission oil we purchased);
- fabric, lint-free cleaning cloths and work clothes;
- automatic transmission filter - must be purchased in advance;
- Automatic transmission pan gasket - also purchased in advance.
Checkpoint on the Daewoo Nexia - what will we use?
When purchasing oil, pay attention to the release date.
Despite the fact that the manufacturer declares the indefinite use of gear oil in the Daewoo Nexia gearbox, it needs to be changed.
Experts advise not to exceed the mileage before an oil change of 100-120 thousand km . Otherwise, there will be expensive repairs - synchronizers, seals, shafts will not last long on old oil.
Oil Standards
In the event of a forced oil change, the plant itself recommends using fluids of the SAE 80W , class not lower than GL-4 . In cases where the vehicle is operated in low temperature conditions, the recommended viscosity should correspond to the standard 75W-90 GL-4 .
The plant does not give clear recommendations regarding the composition of the oil, although initially it pours mainly mineral oils into the gearbox. The only advantage of mineral oils for gearboxes is the price.
Types and manufacturers
Otherwise, synthetic and semi-synthetic fluids work much better. This affects both the lubricating and washing properties of the oil and its durability. According to experts, the brand does not play a special role, although each driver has his own preferences. Castrol Syntrans 75w90 is perfect for Nexia .
Replacement process
- We drive the car after a five-kilometer trip onto an overpass, inspection hole, or jack up the car ourselves, using all possible precautions.
- Unscrew the crankcase protection.
- Using a ratchet wrench with an adapter, unscrew the drain plug and immediately place a five-liter bottle under a dark stream of oil.
- We wait until all the liquid has drained.
- Carefully remove the automatic transmission pan (everything is covered in oil), when unscrewing the bolts, trying to choose their diametrically opposite location to avoid skewing the pan.
- We wipe the edges to which the pan was screwed and maintain the sterile cleanliness of all internal parts of the automatic transmission. We carefully wipe the pan, the magnets attached to it, and the drain plug, which at the base contains a magnet that collects the products of the gearbox.
- We remove the old box filter and install a new one.
- Then we return the pan to its place with a new gasket, clean magnets in their places and bolt it around the perimeter through opposite threads.
- We tighten the cap and pour into an empty five-liter bottle as much new liquid as the old one poured out.
- We insert a funnel into the guide tube and pour oil from the bottle into the automatic transmission.
- Warm up the car with the engine idling for 20 minutes and check the level. Replacement completed successfully! Let's perform the above tests and evaluate the changes.
Super mechanics advise performing a so-called complete or 100% oil change in an automatic transmission, replacing the old oil with fresh oil. To do this, it is necessary to disconnect two pipes from the oil cooler, one for new oil, the other for used oil.
Then apply new oil under pressure, draining the old one from another pipe; the operation is carried out with the engine running, and therefore the automatic transmission oil pump. Two people work, one controls the oil flow, the other starts the engine.
This method really allows you to spill a lot of oil through the gearbox and expel a decent amount of waste, combustion products and other nasty things that come from nowhere. Have you already rushed to make a complete replacement? We have to disappoint you, Daewoo Matiz does not have an oil cooler for automatic transmission supplied by the manufacturer from the factory.
Another news is that it is impossible to drain all the used oil and waste products from the box at one time due to the extensive and deep network of oil lines, the torque converter and the design features of the automatic transmission! The mechanism will hold from 300 ml to 1 liter of transmission fluid with the most powerful compressor installation.
If the transmission fluid was thick and dirty before replacement, but the gearbox worked, even with minor flaws, then when replacing using the displacement method, there is a risk of clogging these same oil lines, which will lead to a serious accident. Without any additional effort, 3.5 liters of waste fluid is drained from the gearbox out of a total volume of 4.7 liters. This means that you can drain 74% of the dirty oil, and dilute the remaining 26% with fresh oil.
Thus, the operating conditions of the automatic transmission will gently but significantly improve. Having updated the condition of the working fluid by 66% and tested the behavior of the automatic transmission, upon subsequent replacement (say, after 1000 km), the oil will be in excellent condition. The likelihood that even before the replacement there was a mechanical failure is also high, and by replacing most of the oil, we will dispel doubts about the nature of the malfunction and save money.
To replace it in two stages, we will need 7 liters of liquid. About the same amount will need to be used in a car service, but you will have to pay for the service and guess about the quality of the work performed.
Even if our Jatco JF405E is not capricious to replacement with displacement, if the condition of the gearbox is unsatisfactory, we independently check how effective this procedure will be. And if the condition is satisfactory, we carry out preventive maintenance and increase the service life of the mechanism.
Video instruction from TANTOA
Changing the oil in the gearbox is carried out on an overpass or pit. The replacement procedure includes the following steps.
1-3 steps 4-7 steps 8 step 9-11 steps
- If there is engine protection, remove it.
- Using a 10 mm socket, loosen the transmission pan bolts.
- We tighten the bolts in the front part of the pan and place a wide container under the drained oil.
- After draining all the lubricant, completely remove the pan. In this case, even if the gasket does not break, it is recommended to replace it.
- Usually only 1.5 liters of oil is drained, and 200-300 g continues to remain in the crankcase. To completely drain, you can raise the front left wheel to the maximum height possible with a standard jack.
- Using a 13 mm socket, unscrew the oil level plug on the right side of the gearbox under the inner CV joint. Then we thoroughly rinse the plug itself from the inside, as well as the loose magnet located in its cavity.
- After waiting until oil stops dripping from the gearbox, we install the pan in place, thoroughly cleaning its seat from old grease and gasket residues. The pan is installed with a new gasket or sealant, without tightening the control plug.
- Next, you can fill in new gearbox oil. To do this, twist the breather in the upper part of the gearbox, next to the selector mechanism. Remove the plastic cap from the breather and unscrew it using a 19 mm wrench.
- For convenience, insert a funnel into the breather hole and slowly add oil until it begins to flow from the plug hole, then tighten the control plug. As a result, about one and a half liters of lubricant is poured.
- If the front left wheel was lifted to completely drain the fluid, then after closing the plug, add oil to the nominal volume. Otherwise, there is no need to perform additional filling.
- All that remains is to screw the breather back to its original location.

Video “Changing the oil in a Daewoo manual transmission”
Changing the automatic transmission oil is an important procedure for every car owner. To take care of your own iron horse, it is necessary to carry out timely maintenance of the vehicle.
To avoid engine damage, it is necessary to monitor the transmission fluid level. If the condition of the fluid is deplorable, replacement is not delayed. Only auto engineers can correctly answer the question of how often to change the oil in a gearbox. The main thing is to monitor the mileage and condition of the fluid in the system.
Replacement procedure
Having determined how much lubricant to pour into the gearbox, you can begin the procedure. Replacement is carried out in stages:
This completes the transmission oil change.
Motorists cannot check what substance the gearbox consumes if it is filled at the factory. For the machine model in question, a mineral product is mainly used. It is advisable to replace it, especially when operating the car at low temperatures. This is due to the fact that it thickens greatly in such conditions. This will negatively affect the operation of the transmission.
The lubrication level should be checked every 15,000 km to ensure that it is not running low. This procedure can be performed by specialists during maintenance. If necessary, add new fluid. Replacement will be required when the transmission is repaired. It is also worth pouring new fluid if the mechanism requires the use of a composition with a different viscosity.
By learning what lubricant can be used for the transmission and how to change it, the replacement will be completed properly. Motorists should pay maximum attention to this procedure, as the comfort and safety of driving depends on it.
Car enthusiast tips: choosing transmission fluids
Functions of automatic transmission oil in a car
Transmission fluid performs the following functions:
- Cools moving parts;
- Cleans the system. The liquid removes wear products from parts and transfers them to the filter. Wear products: dust, metal shavings and others;
- Creates an oil film. Rubbing parts are covered with an oil film, which reduces wear;
- Protects against corrosion. The fluid protects automatic transmission parts from moisture;
- Friction clutch. Oil provides traction using friction vapors.
Has the oil not been changed for a long time or is it filled with bad fluid?
After some time, the behavior of the box will change:
- The transmission will no longer shift smoothly;
- There will be shocks when switching;
- The vehicle will not want to move;
- A characteristic noise will appear in the box.
To prevent costly repairs, it is necessary to change the oil in the automatic transmission of the Daewoo Gentra as soon as possible.
Which one should I use?
In the case of the Daewoo Nexia gearbox, it is best to use a synthetic or semi-synthetic lubricant. The manufacturer recommends using SAE 80W GL-4 transmission oils, and if the vehicle is operated in frosty climates, when the air temperature does not rise above -30° for a long period, the use of 75W90 GL-4 is recommended.
Accordingly, the Daewoo Nexia gearbox can be filled with both mineral oil 80W90 GL-4 and synthetic or semi-synthetic oil 75W80, 75W90, 80W85 GL-4. One of the best options can be considered 80W GL-4. Synthetic lubricant 75W80 is also excellent, especially in winter. In summer, this oil leads to noise in the gearbox, so it is still better to use oils recommended by the manufacturer.

How to change the automatic transmission oil in a Daewoo Gentra yourself?
According to the maintenance regulations, it is recommended to change the automatic transmission oil once every 75 thousand kilometers. To replace, you can use Mobil Dexron-VI ATF oil
. The volume of lubricant required is from 4.5 liters to 7.6 liters of liquid. A complete replacement will require a little more than 8 liters of motor oil.
Safety precautions
When changing oil, safety precautions must be observed. The oil will be hot during the procedure. There is a risk of getting burned, so special clothing and gloves must be used.
Required tools and materials:
- Set of hex keys;
- Screwdriver and pliers;
- Container for waste liquid;
- Fresh oil;
- Washer for drain plug;
- Special clothing and gloves.
Draining old oil and washing the pan to remove chips
Step-by-step instructions for draining old oil and flushing the pan to remove chips on a Daewoo Gentra:
- Drive for 10-15 km to warm up the oil in the system.
- Place the vehicle on a level surface. Use an inspection pit, overpass or lift.
- If a lift is used, lift the vehicle onto it.
- Unscrew the pan protection, if equipped. A set of keys, pliers and a screwdriver are used.
- Get to the drain plug. Clean the area around the drain plug with a metal brush.
- Unscrew the drain plug. A container for waste liquid is first placed under the drain hole.
- Wait until the car oil drains. Waiting time - 10-15 minutes.
- Screw the plug back. If necessary, change the sealing washer.
- Unscrew the pan. The bolts around the perimeter are unscrewed. When a few bolts remain, place a container for waste liquid under the pan and carefully tilt the pan cover. The residual liquid will drain out.
- Carefully inspect the bottom of the pan for metal shavings. Clean the magnets and tray cover with a metal brush. Then use a clean rag.
- Screw the tray into place.
Filling new oil in the automatic transmission
Step-by-step process for pouring new fluid into the system:
- Unscrew the filler plug. Use a syringe to pour in the oil.
- Carefully monitor the oil level. The liquid should not be poured. Underfilling and overfilling an automatic transmission is fraught with unpleasant consequences.
- Screw in the filler plug.
- Carry out a test ride of 10-15 km. During this time, switch the shift lever to different positions.
As in many modern cars, the oil in the Daewoo Nexia gearbox is theoretically filled for its entire service life. At least that's what the manufacturer tells us.
This is due to both the inevitable aging of the lubricant and the specific operating conditions of vehicles on our roads. In a word, we change the oil after about 100 thousand mileage, and we try to use high-quality synthetic oils, since the Nexia gearbox is filled with mostly mineral water from the factory
.
Replacement frequency
Oil change kit in box.
- We install a container under the pan, which is needed to drain the old oil.
- We tear off the bolts securing the pallet, but do not remove the pallet itself.
Unscrew the filler hole bolt (also known as the control hole). We undermine all the bolts securing the pan, after placing a container underneath to drain the old oil. We do not completely unscrew or remove the pallet. - After the oil begins to flow, we bend the pan with a screwdriver so that the old oil flows faster and in the right direction.
- The oil has stopped flowing - it’s time to remove the pan and wait for the residue to drain.
- Next, you need to clean the pan of all visible traces of oil.
When the oil begins to flow, use a screwdriver to pull the pan back a little so that the old oil flows out through the gap formed. When the oil almost stops flowing, remove the pan completely. This is when the gasket fails in 90 percent of cases. We wait until the remaining oil is completely drained, then we clean the pan and visible parts of the old oil. - The next step is to install a new gasket. If you purchased a non-original one, a sealant will come in handy. The wrapping is done in a circle. The tightening details can be found in the car care manual.
- Fill in new oil, check for the presence or absence of leaks through the gasket.
We install a new gasket and put the pan in place. We wrap it in a circle, with the required torque (can be found in the car care manual). Fill the gearbox with oil through the filler hole. You will need 1.7 liters. We make sure that no oil leaks through the gasket. Checking the oil level. It should be along the edge of the filler (control) hole in the box. Tighten the filler hole bolt. - We check the oil level. The recommended level is the edge of the inspection hole.
- Screw in the bolt on the filler hole and enjoy the ride.
The manufacturer claims that oil is poured into the Daewoo Nexia gearbox for the entire period of operation of the car, but does not specify exactly how long this service life should be and how to check whether it has expired or not. Therefore, in order to avoid serious financial costs for gearbox repairs, it is recommended to change the gearbox oil every 100 thousand km. mileage If you have difficulty shifting gears in cold weather, you can change the oil in the box even before the mileage reaches 100 thousand.
Tool for changing gearbox oil
To completely change the oil in the Nexia gearbox, you will need about two liters of SAE 80W GL-4
, we choose the manufacturer at our discretion and according to our financial capabilities. In extreme cases, you can fill in both mineral water and semi-synthetic water, and the viscosity is selected depending on climatic conditions. First, let's prepare tools, consumables and accessories:
- If it is not possible to use a lift, a standard jack will come in handy.
- Refill syringe.
- A container with a volume of at least 2 liters with a wide neck (a plastic canister cut lengthwise, an ordinary basin).
- Transmission pan gasket. Depending on the year of manufacture and modification of the box, the tray may have 10 ( Nexia N100
) or 11 holes (
N-150
). This must be taken into account before purchasing a gasket. - Set of sockets, set of keys, standard tools.
- Sealant for gaskets if possible.
Replacement algorithm
The oil is changed when the engine is warm so that the waste is drained more completely. We install the car on the pit/overpass and begin work in this order:
- The manufacturer did not provide any drain plugs, so the oil is drained when the pan is removed.
Don't be lazy to remove the engine protection if it is installed. Unscrew the plastic protection. - Use a socket wrench or a 10 mm socket wrench to unscrew the screws securing the pan.
We work carefully because the oil is hot. We do not unscrew all the screws, but leave two oppositely located ones attached. We turn out all the bolts of the pallet except the last two. - We install a container under the gearbox.
- Carefully unscrew the two remaining screws and carefully remove the tray.
The oil began to drain into the container. Drain the used oil. - As a rule, no more than 1.5 liters of oil can be drained the first time. The rest is still in the box and we need to remove it.
- Place the gearbox in neutral and jack up the left front wheel to remove any remaining oil from the fifth gear mechanism.
Raise the front left wheel with a jack. - We turn the raised wheel against the movement, draining the remains of the transmission. As a result, at least 1.7 liters should be drained with a total gearbox volume of 1.8 liters.
- Now let's get to the traffic jams.
Using a 13mm head, unscrew the inspection hole plug. It is located on the right side of the vehicle on the gearbox housing. The control hole plug is unscrewed with the head at 13. - We thoroughly wash the plug to remove any remaining oil, take out the magnetic catcher and wash it.
We clean the magnet and plug from dirt and metal filings. - Unscrew the breather from the top of the box. We wash it too. We do not tighten the breather; we will fill the oil through the top hole.

How to drain oil from a Daewoo Nexia box
Changing the oil in a Daewoo Nexia with 16 valves begins with draining the waste. Old lubricant does not perform current tasks at the proper level, so premature wear of working parts is likely. To extend the life of the vehicle, maintenance must be carried out in a timely manner.
Most car maintenance work can be done on your own, sometimes requiring wheel removal
To change the oil in a Daewoo Nexia manual transmission, you need to prepare a complete set of tools. It includes a jack, a set of wrenches, construction or medical syringes, a jack, a new gasket, and a container into which the old waste will flow. Gaskets can be mounted with 10 or 11 bolts; you need to immediately clarify which option is needed. If the required gasket is not commercially available, you can make it yourself from paronite. In the absence of a sealant, in principle, the pan is coated around the perimeter with sealant.
- Warm up the engine, then turn off the engine and drive the vehicle to the work site.
- Get under the car, remove the engine protective kit, if it is there, by tightening the fastening bolts.
- Using a socket-type working head or a wrench, tighten the screws on the pallet structure - first at the front, then on the other parts. Place a container, preferably a basin, so that oil flows into it from the pan.
When the waste has drained, the pan is completely dismantled. The gasket may tear; it will be necessary to remove its remains in places of contact with the transmission operating unit. Typically, 1.5 liters of working fluid comes out of the pan, the rest of the volume will remain in the crankcase. To completely remove the grinding, jack up the front wheel on the left, preferably higher.

When to change the oil in the Nexia gearbox and what to fill
The answer to this question depends on several factors. If the driver practices a calm driving style without overload, then it is recommended to change the oil in the gearbox of a Daewoo Nexia every 100,000 km. mileage
In the case when the box was repaired or the machine was operated in conditions close to extreme, it is better to carry out this procedure earlier.
