Oil in the Lada Granta cable gearbox. What kind of oil should be poured into the gearbox of the Lada Granta? What oil should be used in the Lada Granta gearbox?

Lada Granta is gradually becoming one of the most beloved and popular vehicles among the AvtoVAZ lineup. But in order for the operation to be long and comfortable, it is necessary to monitor all the vital components of your iron horse, and in particular the oil in the gearbox. We will write about how to choose the right transmission oil for manual and automatic transmissions on the Lada Granta below in our article.

Filling volumes from the car manual

How often should you change your oil?

This question is asked by many Grant owners. The answer here is simple and lies in the service book of your car.

Old oil from the Granta gearbox at a mileage of 50,000 km

According to the manual, the oil in a manual transmission should be changed every 70,000 kilometers or after 5 years of operation, whichever comes first.

With an automatic transmission, the situation is different; the manufacturer assures that the transmission fluid poured there is designed for the entire period of use of the car. However, as follows from practice, you have to change the oil there too, at least after 80,000-100,000 kilometers, or 5-7 years of operation.

Which oil should you choose?

By referring to the same vehicle instructions, you can find out that for replacement in a manual transmission, the manufacturer recommends semi-synthetic motor oil Lukoil TM-4 75W-90 GL-4 (The viscosity class may vary depending on the region in which the car is operated).

Also, some analogues have been certified:

  • Kinetic (Rosneft) 80W-85.
  • Translux (Tatneft) TM 4-12 - 75W-85.
  • Trans KP (NovOil) 80W-85.
  • Shell Spirax S5 ATE 75W-90.
  • TNK Trans KP SUPER 75w-90.

One of the most common gearbox oil options is TNK Trans KP SUPER 75w-90

Please note that the viscosity grade of each brand may also change depending on the weather conditions in the region where the vehicle is used.

Filling with new oil

With an automatic transmission, everything is stricter; here the manufacturer has set strict limits and encourages you to adhere only to them. Genuine EJ-1 ATF * or Nissan ATF Matic-S oil was filled from the factory ; which should be filled during subsequent replacement.

*Oil manufacturer is JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corporation.

What kind of oil does AvtoVAZ fill at the Lada Granta plant: engine and gearbox

From the factory, the engine of the Lada Granta is filled with Rosneft semi-synthetic oil 5W-30. There is no such oil on the market, since it contains special additives that serve for better running-in of the new engine.

Remember that the engine of a new car needs to be broken in; it certainly won’t make it any worse!

Main article: oil change in the 8-valve Lada Granta engine.

On an 8-valve engine, zero maintenance must be done at 2,500 km, since the valves need to be adjusted there. It is at this mileage that the oil is changed to a new one, and the old, break-in oil is drained.

Manual transmission (Tatneft TM-4-12 SAE 75w-85 GL-4)

Manual transmission

From the factory, the gearbox on the Lada Granta (both existing modifications) is filled with Tatneft TM-4-12 SAE 75w-85 GL-4 oil (TATNEFT TRANSLUX TM4-12). If there are no TatNeft gas stations in your region, then most likely you will have difficulty finding this oil.

The manufacturer answers all questions via the AvtoVAZ hotline that the service life of this oil is 150,000 km, and it should only be changed to the recommended ones.

Since the issue of choosing oil in a manual transmission is a separate large topic in which there are active discussions, we will only briefly describe alternative replacements.

When should you change it?

We still recommend changing the gearbox oil at a mileage of no earlier than 15,000 km. During this time, the old oil will break in, and all the “break-in slag” will come out with it.

Alternative replacements (tested by club members)

It has been noticed that switching to synthetic oil reduces the volume of the transmission whine.

Automatic transmission (NISSAN Matic Fluid S)

Automatic transmission

From the factory, Nissan oil (NISSAN Matic Fluid S) is poured into the automatic transmission of the Lada Granta. When checking the level on a new car, the oil color will be transparent, whereas on sale it is red, but sometimes it can also be yellow.

We have already written in more detail about changing the oil in the automatic transmission earlier.

NISSAN Matic Fluid S oil in the Lada Granta automatic transmission is filled from the factory like this

The only analogue with which it can be replaced is NISSAN Fluid Matic J (this oil is cheaper). This replacement is recommended by Nissan itself.

It is not recommended to fill NISSAN Matic D, it can break the box, members of our club had a sad experience.

When to change the oil in the automatic transmission of Lada Granta

In the routine maintenance of the Lada Granta, the timing of changing the automatic transmission oil is not indicated anywhere. But specifically for gearboxes, Nissan itself recommends, according to its regulations, an average replacement of 60 t.km.

carfrance.ru

How much oil will it take to change?

The manual transmission housing holds 3.1-3.3 liters of oil, and in an automatic transmission it holds about 5.0-5.3 liters.

Conclusion.

Now that you know which oil to choose for your Granta, you can proceed directly to the replacement. It’s good that changing the oil in a manual transmission and automatic transmission with your own hands is not very difficult today.

I have been using Lukoil TM-4 for many years and before that on a Chevrolet Niva. The oil is quite satisfactory and I don’t see any point in overpaying for expensive imported brands, and in winter the gearbox switches perfectly, even after being left idle in the cold. But since I live mainly in the country, I have to drive a lot on country roads and gravel with frequent gear changes. Therefore, I change the oil not after 70 thousand km, but more often, after about 40. And I think that this is cheaper than repairing the transmission later.

Everyone is scolding Lada. My husband and I really like this car. Excellent components, relatively inexpensive spare parts. Regarding filling the oil, I want to say this. The oils from the following foreign manufacturers are recommended for use: all-season “Esso-Ultra” (10 W-40), “G-Energy S-Synth” (10 W-40, 15 W-40), "Shell Helix-Plus" (10 W-40), "Mobil1-ESP Formula" (5 W-30). Among domestic manufacturers, we should highlight brands that have also proven themselves to be excellent: “Rosneft-Premium” (5W-40), “Rosneft-Maximum” (5 W-40, 10 W-40), “Novoil-Super” (5 W- 30, 5 W-40, 10 W-40, 15 W-40). This is our personal advice, based on personal experience and expert advice.

How to replace?

Many people prefer to change transmission fluid at service stations. On the one hand, this is the right decision since the work will be performed by a qualified specialist, but on the other hand, you will have to pay him your hard-earned money. But if you want to save money or are reluctant to part with money, then you can do it on your own; the replacement process after reading our article should not cause you any difficulties.

If you have an automatic transmission

Automatic transmission Lada Granta
Replacing fluid in an automatic transmission is a little more complicated than in a manual transmission, but it will not cause any particular difficulties even for a beginner.

Which oil should you choose?

Let's say right away that the oil used in the Lada Granta automatic transmission does not need frequent replacements, because its excellent performance properties guarantee the operation of the gearbox throughout the entire service life of the car. This means that on a Lada car with an automatic transmission, fluid replacement is necessary only when repairing the gearbox itself. Reuse of transmission fluid is strictly prohibited! Today there is simply a huge assortment of different high-quality oils on sale that are suitable for Lada Granta automatic transmissions, but the pros recommend Genuine EJ-1 ATF (from JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corporation).

Gearbox oil for Lada Granta with manual transmission and AMT

TOTAL TRANSMISSION GEAR 8 75W80 transmission oil is intended for manual transmissions of passenger cars and complies with the API GL4+ standard. TOTAL specialists recommend pouring this oil into the Granta gearbox when replacing it during service (for cars with manual or robotic transmission). It has excellent protective properties and protects transmission parts from premature wear and corrosion in any operating conditions, increasing the service life of the unit. The stability of the characteristics of TOTAL TRANSMISSION GEAR 8 75W80 allows the use of this oil in Lada Granta gearboxes with the maximum permissible service intervals.

The budget car Lada Granta has been produced since 2011. The model is equipped with 8- and 16-valve 1.6-liter engines with a power of 82 - 118 hp. and three types of transmission: a 5-speed manual gearbox VAZ 2181, a 5-speed robotic gearbox AMT 2182 and a 4-speed hydromechanical automatic transmission Jatco JF414E.

What kind of oil to pour into the Granta box depends on the type of transmission.

What transmission fluid to buy

Stores may offer you different options for transmission fluid, but not every one is suitable for the updated manual transmission of the Lada Granta. At the factory, Tatneft Translux with a viscosity of 75-85 is poured into it. We recommend that you choose oils with a viscosity of 75 to 90, as this is the best option for our climate.

In the store, it is important for you to find original oil of one of the brands:

  • Trans KP from TNK (you can purchase something similar, but marked Super);
  • Konenic;
  • Shell Transaxle Oil;
  • Rosneft;
  • Lukoil TN4;
  • Novoil Trans KP;
  • Trans KP2 from TNK.

Experts recommend first of all paying attention to transmission fluids from TNK, for example, Trans KP Super is ideal for those recommended for our area. It has already been tested by many car enthusiasts and is marked as one of the best for a cable box.

Since 2013, almost all front-wheel drive VAZ cars are equipped with a “cable” gearbox. In Grant sedans, it replaced a less reliable unit designated as “2190”. In addition to the fact that the drive became a cable drive, other changes appeared. The new box is called “VAZ-2181”, and the volume of its crankcase has been reduced from 3.3 to 2.3 liters. Here we discuss how to change the oil in a Lada Granta gearbox with a cable drive.

A rare case: the “2181” gearbox began to howl at 800 km. There is confirmation in the video, and the problem was solved by changing the oil.

When changing the oil in a Granta gearbox, you can also use TOTAL TRANSMISSION DUAL 9 FE 75W90 - this gear oil is 100% synthetic and has a level of properties that meets API GL-4, GL-5 and MT-1 standards. Thanks to FUEL ECONOMY (FE) technology, the use of this oil in the Lada Granta gearbox reduces fuel consumption compared to conventional lubricants. Its high extreme pressure properties guarantee reliable protection of transmission elements from wear and corrosion. TOTAL TRANSMISSION DUAL 9 FE 75W90 has high oxidation resistance, which allows it to be used in Granta gearboxes with extended replacement intervals (as prescribed by the car manufacturer).

List of common mistakes

  • They heat the box by pressing the gas to the floor and standing in neutral. The result is that the engine deteriorates.
  • The oil is drained, and then it is found that the filling hole cannot be opened.
  • The spacer washer is made of copper. Try not to lose it.

The new, that is, modernized box began to be called VAZ-2181, and it is now being installed in Grant sedans and liftbacks. Well, before, from 2011 to 2013, the basis of the transmission could only be unit 21900-1700012. We will look at how to change the oil in a Lada Granta gearbox of “old” model years. That is, we will talk about node “2190” (not “2181”).

Let's learn how to remove the dipstick right away - one video will help you with this.

You can select oil for your Lada Granta box using a special service on our website.

High-quality lubrication is very important for a car: many components and systems constantly experience friction during operation. Without oils, depreciation and failure are a matter of a few days of operation. So the question of which oil is best to fill in the Lada Grant is one of the most significant for the owners of this model.

Detailed algorithm for changing the oil in a CABLE gearbox

The oil from the Lada Granta gearbox is drained through the “bottom” plug. It is unscrewed with a 17 key.

The simplest thing is to drain the oil

You need to unscrew the cap like this: make 1-2 turns with the key, then substitute the container. And then unscrew the plug by hand.

When the liquid flows out, wipe the surface of the crankcase. We tighten the plug back (torque – 29-46 Nm). Getting ready to refuel.

Hose and funnel are ready for use

Let's say refueling goes through the switch hole. Place a hose in the hole and install a funnel. And we begin to fill in new oil.

The oil volume in the Lada Granta gearbox is 2.2 liters (maximum). That's what those who unscrewed the control plug say.

Access to the control plug is blocked by the crankcase protection. If the plug was not unscrewed during preparation, measure exactly 2.2 liters. And if the control is carried out “according to regulations”, let the body be tilted to the right: place a suitable load in the passenger compartment or trunk. Tilt angle – 2-3 degrees (no longer needed).

Standards and factors

How much lubricant will be used depends on its quality, viscosity, operating conditions and driving style. On average, according to the manufacturer’s documentation, the consumption per 1000 km for the Grant will be as follows:

  • 8 valves, engine capacity 1.6 l, power 87 hp: consumes 50 g;
  • 16 valves, motor models of all varieties: consumption 300 g.

Engine oil can be consumed more intensively - a whole list of factors affects:

  1. Overflow of lubricant;
  2. Clogged or faulty filter;
  3. Oil viscosity. The seasonal variety is used up faster than the all-season variety. But the last one is more likely
  4. loses viscosity;
  5. Malfunction or high degree of wear of engine components: pistons, cylinders, pumps;
  6. In a new or overhauled engine, the increased oil consumption is explained by the grinding of the elements. When it ends, consumption should return to normal.

In some cases, the reason for high expenses may be difficult to determine. But eliminating the problem is an urgent and extremely important task. Delaying it usually ends in the need for expensive and major repairs.

What should I put in the Lada Granta transmission?

Initially, at the enterprise, engineers fill in Lukoil TM transmission fluid corresponding to the viscosity type 75W-80 - 75W-90, depending on the climatic conditions of the region where the vehicle is sold.

In order for the gearbox to work properly, when subsequently replacing consumables, AvtoVAZ recommends using:

  • Novoil Trans KP;
  • Rosneft Kinetic;
  • Tatneft Translux;
  • TNK for checkpoints;
  • or Shell Helix Spirax C5.

It will be useful: Description of the main causes of wear of the main and connecting rod bearings

Shell Helix Spirax S5 gearbox fluid

In this case, it is important that the consumable lubricant meets the API standard - GL4 or GL 4/5. If domestically produced products do not suit you, then the best option would be to use Shell Helix liquid. If you believe consumer reviews and numerous tests, the products from this manufacturer are of quite high quality and are successfully used in many foreign cars.

It should also be noted that the oil that is poured from the factory into Grant and other models is of low quality. This is confirmed by reviews from car owners. The use of such a lubricant is fraught with the appearance of noise and new sounds when the vehicle is operating, so experts recommend immediately changing the substance to a better one. This will increase the service life of the unit. The TM you have chosen does not comply with the GL standard, so it is better to refrain from using it - of course, in practice it may be good, but our recommendations are based on information received from the manufacturer.

Problem of choice

So, what kind of oil is better to fill in the Lada Granta? The manufacturer of the line advises using semi-synthetic lubricants produced by Russian manufacturers. The most common are Lukoil and Rosneft 5W-30. They are the ones that are poured at dealership centers during maintenance. However, some grant makers are in no hurry to follow AvtoVAZ’s recommendations. Therefore, they use analog lubricants.

Oil change, work sequence for gearbox 2190

  1. Using a 17mm wrench, loosen the drain plug located on the gearbox housing. You need to complete the removal of the plug with your hands, as the wrench may damage the thread.
  2. After removing the plug, dirty oil along with metal shavings will flow out of the hole.
  3. After waiting for the liquid to drain completely, close the hole again and get out from under the bottom of the car
  4. Filling with new oil is done using a funnel or hose. You need to fill in about 3 liters of liquid, then you need to check the level. Please note that the optimal level is considered to be the oil mark located between the Max and Min marks on the dipstick

Semi-synthetic, mineral water or synthetic

Many car owners have their own point of view about which oil is more appropriate for the Lada Granta. Semi-synthetics and mineral options do not quite suit them. Pure synthetics have clear advantages over the alternative.

  • Synthetic oils have higher temperature stability.
  • At subzero temperatures they retain better fluidity. Accordingly, in cold weather the engine starts faster.
  • Synthetics have higher anti-friction properties.
  • The lubricating properties of such oils are more powerful, due to which the engine life is increased and fuel consumption is reduced.

However, the cost of synthetic lubricants is noticeably higher than semi-synthetic ones. And you have to decide which oil to pour into the Lada Granta engine individually, based on your personal financial capabilities.

What's the result?

Currently, VAZ is actively using technologies from the automobile corporation RENAULT - NISSAN. Many components and assemblies installed on Lada cars have undergone long-term testing under extreme conditions.

For this reason, it is optimal to use only original fluids and oils (engine and transmission). It is also possible to switch to various analogues, but in this case you need to use products that are of high quality and fully comply with all the tolerances of the car manufacturer itself.

Algorithm: how to change

The engine oil in Grant is supposed to be changed every 15-20 thousand kilometers. The range is determined by the degree of load on the car. The higher they are, the more often the lubricant should be changed. The amount required for replacement varies depending on the type of transmission. A system with an automatic requires 4.4 liters of oil, for a car with a manual – 3.2.

You can change the engine oil yourself. It looks like this step by step:

  • Warming up the engine to operating temperatures.
  • Installing a car on an overpass or inspection hole.
  • Power plant shutdown.
  • Removing the crankcase protection (if you have a 16-valve model).
  • Removing the plug from the filler neck.
  • Cleaning the drain hole around the perimeter.
  • Removing the plug on the pallet (you will need a 17 mm or hex key).
  • Draining used oil.
  • Return the plug to its place.
  • Cleaning the filter housing.
  • Fill the new filter halfway with oil. O-ring lubrication.
  • Installation of a new filter.
  • Add oil through the top neck. The total volume is 0.5 liters below normal.
  • Checking the lubricant level with a dipstick. This is carried out no earlier than 3 minutes after filling.
  • Test start of the engine, monitoring the absence of leaks, re-checking the lubricant level, topping it up if necessary.

Manipulations should be carried out in protective gloves - the drained oil is characterized by a high temperature.

How is old oil removed?

It’s up to you to decide whether it’s worth flushing the automatic transmission on a Lada, but just in case, we remind you that flushing is done as follows: screw on the drain plug, fill the automatic transmission with flushing liquid, after that you need to start the engine and change the automatic transmission speeds. Then we turn off the car, unscrew the plug and drain the liquid. For high-quality washing, the procedure is repeated 2-3 times.

Let the liquid drain completely and wait a few minutes for the machine to dry from the inside. Now you need to tighten the drain plug, fill the automatic transmission with oil according to the same principle as for a manual transmission. After filling the oil into the Lada Granta car, you need to check its level again.

Let the car run (without heavy load) for a short time and pull out the dipstick again. If the oil level is optimal, it means you did everything right.

According to the instructions of the VAZ car manufacturer, it is recommended to change the transmission oil in a Lada Granta car every 75,000 km or after 5 years of operation. This process is simple and even a novice car enthusiast can handle it. From this article you will learn not only how to check the oil level in the Lada Granta gearbox, but also how to replace it yourself.

Transmission Lubricants

Now let’s figure out which oil is more suitable for the Lada Granta box than others. The performance of the car depends on it to the same extent as on the engine. To maintain operational functions, certain rules must be followed.

  • Check the lubricant level in a timely manner. The frequency for cars with manual transmission is every 15 thousand mileage, for cars with automatic transmission – every 5 thousand. Sometimes there is a need for intermediate checks: if oil leaks are found on the crankcase.
  • If the oil level drops, top up to normal.
  • After traveling 70-75 thousand km or after 5 years of low-intensity use of a car with an automatic transmission, the lubricant must be replaced. If the Lada Granta is equipped with mechanics, the first change is carried out after 2 thousand kilometers, the subsequent ones - every 10-15 thousand kilometers traveled or annually.

Changing the oil in the Granta gearbox

How to fill a Lada Granta with oil into a box is again determined by the type of gearbox. Let's start with the mechanics.

  • The car is driven onto an inspection hole or overpass. Preferably after a long trip.
  • The protection is removed from the drain; the edges are carefully cleaned with a wire brush.
  • The plug is screwed off, and the waste is poured into an unnecessary container.
  • During the process of draining the battery, the terminal is unscrewed, the fasteners securing the air filter are unscrewed, the air flow sensor and all hoses with cables that interfere with dismantling the housing are turned off.
  • The filter moves to the side.
  • The drain hole is clogged with a lid.
  • The dipstick is removed from the filling hole and a funnel is placed in its place. Oil is poured through it.
  • With the Lada in a strictly horizontal position, the level of transmission fluid is measured. The insufficient volume is replenished, the excess is drained. Drops and streaks are wiped off with a clean rag.
  • Everything dismantled is put back in place in the reverse order.

At the end of the work, a test drive is done with gear shifting, and the oil level is measured again. If necessary, it is corrected.

When changing the oil in an automatic transmission, the initial steps are the same: warming up the automatic transmission, placing the car on a ramp. Your further actions are as follows.

  1. Using a 19mm wrench, unscrew the drain bolt.
  2. The overflow plug is removed with a 5mm hexagon.
  3. The waste liquid is drained.
  4. A washer-seal is installed (necessarily a new one).
  5. The plug and bolt are returned to place.
  6. A short drive is made to warm up the oil. Its temperature should fluctuate between 60 and 80 degrees.
  7. Without turning off the engine, the gearbox first switches from position P to position 1, and then back. In each position, the lever must be held for approximately 5 seconds.

A control check of the lubricant level is also carried out with the car body strictly horizontal. During the oil change process, all elements are wiped dry with paper or a lint-free cloth.

What kind of oil to put in the grant box - Car repair and maintenance

Correct and durable operation of the gearbox directly depends on control of the quantity and quality of the oil used. Over time, transmission fluid loses its properties. This is reflected in the physical processes occurring inside the transmission unit. The oil change in the Lada Granta box must be done in a timely manner. This procedure is easy to perform with your own hands.

Return

Checking the transmission fluid level is necessary every 15,000 km with a manual transmission and every 5,000 km with an automatic transmission, as well as if leaks are detected on the gearbox housing. If the oil level is insufficient, topping up is required. At the beginning of vehicle operation, transmission fluid consumption is slightly increased. You should regularly check its level in the engine crankcase. The amount of consumption also depends on driving style and engine load.

The oil change in the Lada Granta automatic transmission, according to the vehicle’s operating manual, is carried out after 70–75 thousand km or after 5 years from the start of operation. At the factory, the automatic transmission is filled with oil that has good performance characteristics, which can guarantee uninterrupted operation throughout the entire specified service life of the vehicle. Consequently, transmission fluid in an automatic transmission is replaced only during repair work on the unit.

The manual transmission oil of a Lada Granta needs to be changed much more often. The first fluid change in a manual transmission is required after 2–3 thousand km, then every 10–15 thousand km or once a year.

Oil quality is one of the important indicators. When purchasing, you should make sure that the supplier is reliable so as not to purchase a fake. Semi-synthetic and synthetic fluids have proven themselves well. The instructions for the car indicate which substances should be used.

For “mechanics” AvtoVAZ recommends the following brands of oils:

  • Lukoil TM 4;
  • Novoil Trans KP;
  • Rosneft Konenik;
  • Tatneft Translux TM4-12;
  • Shell.

For the automatic transmission, the factory uses the following brands of transmission substances: Genuine EJ-1 ATF, Nissan ATF Matic-S, semi-synthetics from Lukoil.

Before checking the fluid level in the Grants gearbox, you should make sure that the vehicle is on a horizontal surface and the oil is cool. The check is carried out with the engine not running. The transmission fluid level indicator (dipstick) is removed from the hole in the gearbox housing.

Then it is wiped with a dry, clean cloth, inserted into the crankcase as far as it will go and removed again. The fluid level should be between the minimum and maximum marks on the gauge. If the level is insufficient, you must add a substance of the same brand. You can use a hose and funnel for this. Transmission fluid is topped up through the neck, which is closed by the oil level indicator.

3-5 minutes after adding transmission fluid, you should check the level again to make sure it is sufficient.

Return

The process of replacing transmission fluid in manual and automatic transmission Grants is somewhat different. In 2013, AvtoVAZ modernized the manual transmission. The drive for shifting gears using rods has been replaced by a cable drive. This circumstance not only made it possible to make gear shifts clearer, but also affected the filling volume of the box. Before starting work on changing the oil, you should check the required quantity in the vehicle’s operating manual.

To carry out the procedure, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • canister of fresh oil;
  • key to 17;
  • screwdriver;
  • funnel;
  • hose;
  • waste container;
  • clean dry cloth;
  • gloves.

Even a beginner can change the transmission fluid on his own. First, you should drive the car into the inspection hole, after warming up the gearbox. The best option is to carry out this procedure after a long trip. If there is no inspection hole or overpass, you can raise the right side of the car with a jack. To securely fix the car, you should ensure that there are wheel chocks.

Next you need to find the drain hole. If there is crankcase protection, a special hole is made. The one-piece protection is simply removed. The drain hole should be cleaned with a metal brush, then wiped with a clean cloth. The drain plug is unscrewed with a 17 key. The work is carried out with gloves: if the hot substance leaks out, it can burn your hands.

The waste draining process takes about 15–20 minutes. At this time, you should provide access to the filler plug: disconnect the battery terminal, unscrew the air filter housing mounting screws, disconnect the mass air flow sensor terminal and other hoses and wires that prevent dismantling the housing, move the air filter housing to the side. When the used oil is completely glass, the drain hole is closed with a plug.

Next, you need to fill in new transmission fluid. If the replacement process is being carried out for the first time, it is better to fill in a little less than the recommended volume. With the car in a strictly horizontal position, you should measure the oil level. If it is insufficient, add it; if it is excessive, drain the excess through the control hole. Spills and drops on the box must be wiped off with a clean cloth. Next, the air filter is installed.

After filling, you should drive, switching the gearbox stages in sequence, then measure the fluid level again and adjust it if necessary.

Changing the automatic transmission oil

To change transmission fluid in an automatic transmission, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • ring key 19;
  • hexagon 5;
  • canister of fresh oil;
  • new sealing washer;
  • clean, dry, smooth cloth;
  • container for waste liquid;
  • gloves.

Similar to the procedure for changing the oil in a manual transmission, the first step is to drive the car into the inspection hole or jack it up. The transmission must be warmed up. Next, wipe the surface around the perimeter of the drain hole. Using a 19mm wrench, unscrew the drain bolt. Use a 5mm hex to unscrew the overflow plug. When the glass is completely drained, a new sealing washer is installed, the overflow plug and drain bolt are tightened.

Now you need to make a short trip to warm up the oil to a temperature of 60–80 °C. Then, with the engine running, the gearbox lever switches from position “P” to “1”; and then from “1” to “P”. In this case, the lever is held in each intermediate position for about 5 seconds.

When the vehicle is in a horizontal position, the fluid level is measured and, if necessary, adjusted.

Insufficient transmission fluid level in the automatic transmission causes air to be sucked into the oil pump. Excessive can cause a car fire.

When replacing transmission fluid, all automatic transmission parts must be wiped exclusively with a clean, dry, smooth cloth or paper. It is important to prevent any tiny foreign materials from getting into the box.

The process of changing oil in various modifications of Granta transmission units is not a difficult task. The main thing is to choose quality oil. Timely monitoring of the transmission fluid level will be the key to uninterrupted and long-term operation of the gearbox.

Feedback from grantmakers

By the way: the Lada Grant has various engines. On the most inexpensive trim levels there are eight-type ones, and the drain plugs are unscrewed with a hexagon. In non-budget configurations and a cable box - key 17. This must be kept in mind! Alexander Vasilievich

It’s unlikely that you can change the oil in a quarter of an hour! The dirt and oil must be allowed to drain thoroughly: you remove the filter, then wait for half an hour and let all the dirt go away...

It took quite a long time to choose from oils. At first there was a long digging through a large number of reviews on forums, information on websites for Grant, but I finally settled on Liqui Moly 5W-40. This is one hundred percent synthetic. The company has also been verified by reviews; many have been using it for a long time and recommend it.

Many people do not have the habit of paying attention, when changing engine oil, to the oil filter and also to its manufacturer. in vain! Even when you have the most expensive oil, your car can suffer because of this filter. In non-original ones (as an option: in general, it’s not clear whose production) the reduction valve may get stuck, and there will be a constant oil starvation of the engine. Therefore, carefully buy filters, take proven brands, from a spare parts supplier that has been tested by time and reviews. Basil

Comrade motorists, I don’t know about you, but I decided to speak out, I recently bought ZIC oil, and ran into a fake, the fact is that the price seems to be the same as the real thing, and the store is trusted, but things are like this. Previously, they were produced in metal canisters, and there were practically no fakes, because counterfeiting the canister itself is quite expensive, but now it’s plastic, which is a piece of cake to fake.

I'll express my opinion. Factory requirements for the use of Tatneft TM-4-12 oil in boxes 2181 did not appear (as I think) from the good life of the manufacturers. The box is new, and it is possible that to ensure the operation of some components (unit), and even more so durable operation, very “comfortable” conditions are needed. It may have been discovered that if the oil does not withstand (has a deviation) in some parameter, then accelerated wear of this unit begins, or maybe some other “disease”. But the car is already in production, and buyers are COMPLAINING ABOUT HUMMING in old boxes. We urgently need to install a new one. Perhaps Tatneft, in its specifications (technical conditions) for oil, guarantees that this oil parameter will be no worse than the required one (or in the required range), but others do not, or do not see the point in this. It's too much trouble. And then a resource of 150,000 km was declared. Again, aging. In general, it is obvious that only Tatneft has “signed up” that if the boxes start to “die” due to the fact that after 150,000 km their oil has not “kept” this parameter in the required range, they are ready to “respond”. This is just a version.

It doesn't look like it was filled with Translux from the factory, but some other transparent one, Translux 75w85 Tatneft, red in color.

I have a mileage of 22,000 km, the transmission is noisy at all speeds, one guy suggested that you need to fill in good synthetic and the noise will go away immediately, and another says that he changed the oil in the transmission to synthetics, at first there was no noise and then it appeared again, so I think too what to do? While I’m riding, I don’t do anything and it’s fine...

The second one also howls, the rear one sometimes doesn’t turn on, the mechanical cable mileage is 12800 km, so I’m thinking of replacing it

Mileage 5500, same symptoms, I’m not going to change anything!

At the first maintenance, I changed the gearbox oil from Lukoil, everything is fine, it runs

It's better to use synthetics, even though they are expensive. But everything will work out with good additives. I sell oil myself. And oil is complete shit.

At the first maintenance I replaced semi-synthetics with ZIK. It happened in January; in the cold, the factory oil thickened greatly. As far as I know, there was still mineral water there back then. They started pouring semi-synthetics later.

I changed it to 15000, the shifting has become much better, and in cold weather there are no problems... Ps... today we have -28

I wouldn’t rush with synthetics. Any half-blue GL 4 will be enough.

On the 2nd it buzzes for everyone without exception. My mileage at the factory is 31,000, but I would fill it with synthetics.

Like children, by God! If instead of Tatneft you fill it with mobile or total box, of course, you will immediately get full! It's impossible to figure this out without a factory!
