How to re-glue the protective glass on your phone yourself

Good day everyone!

We all use our phones—some carefully, and others, like me...it falls on the floor, lies in my pocket along with my keys, and sometimes even gets doused with coffee. When I became the owner of a new iPhone a year ago, I immediately ordered this protective glass from Ali. The cost is ridiculous, but I had to wait a little and be more careful with my gadget while waiting for the parcel. Get to the point.

A year has passed, and my purchase has come, frankly, to a depressing state. And I ordered new glass. I had doubts and thoughts that this Chinese garbage could not protect the phone screen and that there was at least one crack there anyway. After removing the protection, I saw the following

I even thought that parts would fall off when peeling off; this happened on the corners when I tried to pick it out, but it came off very easily. My screen was safe and sound

. Link to the store https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/High-Quality-Ultra-... The glass cost 27 rubles at the time of purchase. The range includes tempered glass for other phone models.

Now we will glue a new film on the phone.

We take everything you need: phone, protective glass, napkins, stickers.

We wipe the screen with napkin number 1 very carefully, then with napkin number 2 we wipe everything dry

so what are the blue stickers in the kit for?

The large round one will be needed in the next step. It processes the screen to eliminate all specks of dust and unwanted elements.

Small blue stickers can be used to lift up already glued glass if you suddenly lay it down crookedly. They were of no use to me. Everything worked out fine for me. The film is removed using the protruding red tail. The glass is applied according to the location of the holes on the screen. Voila.

When it may be necessary to replace glass in a double glazing unit

There are two reasons for replacing glass: its mechanical damage or initially incorrect installation of the product, as a result of which the tightness of the window system is lost - its key property, without which the design loses its meaning.

Loss of tightness is not always indicated by obvious signs. The presence of a defect can be determined by the following signs:

  1. By a sudden decrease in air temperature in the room and the presence of a draft.
  2. On foggy windows.
  3. On glass that freezes in the cold season.
  4. By increasing the noise level in the room.

A thorough visual inspection can reveal poor-quality installation, the presence of cracks, through holes or poor quality material.

Note! If even a minimal defect associated with a violation of the system’s tightness is detected, you should not postpone repairs, since subsequently the entire structure may need to be replaced along with the profile, and this is a more significant cost.

Prices for seals for plastic windows

Modern MPO manufacturers offer various ways to improve the plastic window structure:

  1. By replacing a single-chamber glass unit with a double-chamber one, you can increase the thermal insulation properties of the system.
  2. Anti-resonance double glazing increases sound insulation in the room and prevents increased external noise due to resonance.
  3. Using energy-saving designs, you can retain heat indoors.
  4. More reliable protection is provided through the use of Triplex glass.

Apply the film to the iPhone.

You can apply the film to your iPhone yourself and even at home. We would like to note that this work requires both a positive attitude, patience, and a little bit of magic :). The process of gluing protective film

consists of a small number of sequential actions.

1. Prepare your “workplace”: we recommend doing this in a bright room and in good daylight, and if this is not available, then a table lamp will do. This, first of all, is necessary in order to clean the iPhone display as much as possible from “fingers”, dust and other micro-nasties. By the way, the most convenient way to wipe the screen is with microfiber, which usually comes with the protective film itself.

2. On both sides of the film you can see flags with numbers 1 or 2. First, about 1 cm, peel off the layer marked with number 1 from the film and slowly, carefully pressing the film to the glass of the iPhone screen, glue it.

3. After you have glued the film, all that remains is to take the final step - remove the protective layer from the surface of the film, which is indicated by the number 2. Take your time, because it is important not to remove the protective film itself from the phone screen.

Self-replacement

The process of replacing a double-glazed window yourself involves performing several steps:

  1. Freeze. Performed for the manufacture of new double-glazed windows.
  2. Dismantling the damaged element.
  3. Installation of a new double-glazed window.

For each of these stages, it is important to be careful in work and adhere to technology. Working with glass requires compliance with safety precautions.

Taking measurements

The first thing you need to do is take the measurements correctly. The dimensional accuracy of the new product depends on this. The following measurements are made using a tape measure:

  1. The overall dimensions of the glass unit are its height and width.
  2. The thickness of the glass unit is measured as accurately as possible, down to a millimeter.
  3. Air chamber width (distance between glass panes).

The parameters of the arched glass are determined using a template made of cardboard or thick paper.

Table 1. Taking measurements

IllustrationDescription
The dismantling of a double-glazed window begins with the removal of glazing beads and PVC linings (plates). To remove glazing beads, use a chisel, spatula, or other sharp flat tool. First of all, the side elements are removed, and then the lower and upper ones.
A special spatula is used to remove the linings.
To measure the height and width of the glass unit, carefully tilt it.
Having removed the glass unit from the grooves, measure its thickness, consisting of the thickness of the glass and the air chambers between them.

After measurement, the product is inserted back and fixed using linings and beads. The production of double-glazed windows according to the measurements provided is carried out by companies offering MPO installation services. If you are not sure that you can take the dimensions yourself, then it is better to contact a specialized company that will provide a measurer and carry out subsequent installation of the product. In this case, the company will be responsible for the work done. If the measurements are taken independently, and the manufactured product does not fit as it should, then you will have to pay extra for the rework. Therefore, the sizing step must be approached responsibly.

How to properly dismantle a double-glazed window

When installing a new double-glazed window, the old one must be dismantled. The design of the plastic window system is such that the glass unit is fixed to the frame using special profile elements - glazing beads.

The plastic strip is hollow inside - it also has a practical purpose, and not just a decorative one, due to the air chamber.

On the outside, the glazing bead has a different profile, which forms the decorative appearance of the window structure.

Note! In order not to confuse the location of the previously removed glazing beads , it is recommended to make marks on their surface. Otherwise, you may end up with noticeable gaps.

To work you need to use the following tools:

  1. Rubber hammer.
  2. Rake as a lever, thickness from 5 to 8 mm.
  3. With a knife or thin spatula.

You need to start work by removing the vertical elements. This is done by placing the blade of a knife or spatula between the frame and the bead. Gently tapping with a rubber hammer, the tip is driven slightly deeper. Then, the bead is bent, applying minimal force, and pulled out of the seat.

After the side beads are removed, remove the lower and then the upper element. When removing the last bead, the glass unit must be supported.

After removing the bead, remove the seal located around the perimeter of the glass.

In addition to the glazing beads, the double-glazed window in the window opening is held in place by PVC spacer plates - they are installed between the window block and the frame. They are pulled out at the same time as the glass unit.

It is necessary to remove the glass unit carefully by tilting it. If the dimensions of the product are large, then it is better to do it together.

When removing the window block, wear gloves to prevent the glass from slipping out of your hands.

The process of installing a new double-glazed window

At the final stage, a new double-glazed window is installed. If installed correctly, the room will become warmer and quieter. Assembly is carried out in the reverse order - no new tools or manipulations are required.

Before installing a new unit, the frame must be inspected for contamination.

Before installing the block itself, it is necessary to correctly distribute the folding and leveling inserts inside the frame.

Seam inserts snap to the frame around the perimeter.

In order for the plate to fit correctly, it is better to place it at an angle on the folded liner, and after installing the double-glazed window, tuck it in.

The block is installed at an angle of 45 degrees, resting on the lower plates, then placed completely in the sash opening.

The top bead is fixed. To ensure that it fits tightly into place, it is tapped with a rubber hammer.

To facilitate the installation of a short bead, cutouts are made in the center of the element in its invisible part to reduce the rigidity of the product and make it more flexible.

If the length of the beads is less than 400 mm, installation is carried out sequentially around the perimeter, starting with the short element.

At the final stage, when the operation of the sash is checked, glazing beads are installed. The bottom element is installed last.

After installation, you need to make sure that the structure fits tightly into the frame and the sashes function correctly. They are adjusted if necessary.

How to re-glue the protective glass on your phone: instructions

Please note that re-sticking the glass will be a little more difficult than using protective film. First of all, it is not recommended to lift this type of product only partially. You will need to completely remove the glass, and after that install it a second time exactly along the contour of the smartphone.

If you have already removed the protective glass, do not turn it over. The adhesive side should be down to prevent debris or dust from entering. Even a small particle of dust can cause problems with the sensor, damage the touchscreen, or simply leave an air bubble.

The steps to stick the glass a second time can be divided into several stages:

  1. Remove the cover, if present, and then remove the protection itself using a plastic spatula or card. For removal, you can use a silicone suction cup, which will allow you to conveniently remove the old glass if you simultaneously lift it with a plastic card.
  2. We clean the display if dust gets on it. For cleaning, use a lint-free cloth soaked in an alcohol solution. After degreasing and cleaning, you will need to wipe the display before applying the glass using a dry microfiber cloth.
  3. Having placed the glass at a height of 2-3 centimeters and aligned it with the smartphone, lower the protection onto the display. To apply the sticker, you just need to lightly press the glass in the center so that it sticks to the display on its own.

Temporary conservation

If one glass is damaged and there is no through hole in the block, then the crack must be preserved while a new element is being manufactured. This will help temporarily reduce heat loss in the room, prevent drafts and reduce noise levels.

To do this, use a transparent sealant specially designed for use with glass. With its help, the crack will not grow further. Apply the composition twice, maintaining a technological break of 2-4 hours. Detailed information on working with the material is indicated on the packaging.

Prices for silicone sealant for windows

You can also use optical glass glue, which will strengthen the crack and prevent it from spreading further.

Materials and tools

In order to glue the protective glass onto the tablet, you will need materials that are found in every home:

  • tape 4-5 cm wide;
  • scissors;
  • damp rags;
  • clean dry cloth;
  • alcohol or degreaser.

Sets with protective glasses usually come with wet or dry wipes for wiping the smartphone display. Cheap models may not have them. It is advisable to use rags that do not leave behind lint or threads.

Important! Silk cloths are ideal for working with a tablet screen.

Master's recommendations

As practice shows, independently replacing a double-glazed window does not cause difficulties, provided that the basic technological requirements are met. It doesn't take much time to work. Not counting the drying time of the sealant, the entire job will take an average of 2 hours.

To ensure installation goes quickly and efficiently, you must adhere to the following recommendations:

  1. Work is carried out in daylight or high-quality artificial lighting.
  2. Sometimes it is not possible to remove the entire block if, for example, it is severely damaged. To simplify the process of cleaning up fragments and to prevent damage to the floor covering, old fabric is laid on the floor, which is then thrown away. The rags cannot be used in the future, as small glass fragments may become stuck in the fibers.
  3. If it is necessary to remove splinters from the block structure, it is recommended to use a rubber hammer, which does not produce as many splinters. This tool will be useful later when installing glazing beads.
  4. If the glass is large, it is better to call an assistant.
  5. It is not recommended to touch glass with bare hands. There are special suction cups for this.
  6. If one glass is being replaced, then before applying it to the frame treated with sealant, the remaining initially solid glass is wiped well, removing fingerprints and other contaminants from its surface.
  7. Before installation, a new double-glazed window must be inspected for defects, so that later you do not have to redo everything again.
  8. During work it is necessary to observe safety precautions. If splinters are likely to form, you must effectively protect your hands and face.

A crack in the glass is not a reason to spend a lot of money on a new product. You can limit yourself to minor repairs so that the window system continues to function as normal.

How to adjust plastic windows for winter mode is a common question among users. In a special article, we will look at ways to independently adjust windows to protect yourself from drafts and extraneous sounds.

Replacing a double-glazed window in a window can be one of the effective ways to update a window structure without overpayments, dismantling frames, and therefore without dust and dirt. Replacing the touch screen

A touch screen phone is a very convenient and functional device. But the more complex the gadget, the greater the likelihood of it being damaged. The touchscreen (touch screen) is the “Achilles heel” of modern mobile phones, because this part is constantly subject to mechanical stress. Fragile glass can be easily crushed, broken, or flooded. Fortunately, replacing a touchscreen is a simple and time-consuming procedure for Mobilamaster service technicians.

Remember: touch screens that don't work or are broken cannot be repaired! Replacement of the sensor or touch glass is required if:

  • it has one or more cracks;
  • the touchscreen has stopped responding to touches or reacts to them as it pleases;
  • The mobile phone freezes during touchscreen calibration.

The sensor has several active layers, and if at least one of them is damaged, the touchscreen stops working. Often, if the touch screen does not respond to touch, it is the glass that needs to be replaced, not the screen itself. You can get by with such “little loss” when the image remains clear, there are no dark spots or spots visible on the screen - the touchscreen simply does not respond to touches (this is possible on Nokia phones, iPhone, where in most cases everything is changed separately, and therefore much cheaper than change the screen module assembly).

If the image becomes blurry, unclear, is not fully displayed, blackouts are visible, or there is no image at all, the screen will need to be replaced. The price of this service, accordingly, will be more expensive (how much a screen replacement costs depends on the phone model).

If the touchscreen does not work, do not try to fix the phone yourself, so that you do not have to buy a new mobile phone later. Replacing the glass or screen of a phone must be done in a workshop, using original parts, since Chinese counterfeits quickly fail, after which it is impossible to repair them. After replacing the sensor at the service center, you should be given a guarantee for the work performed and for the installed part.

Replacement of a double-glazed window or a new window – what to choose?

Double-glazed windows are often confused with a modern window. But this is not a window, but its translucent part, consisting of 2, 3, and sometimes 4 glasses, connected to each other by spacer frames and two layers of sealants. The durability of double-glazed windows according to GOST 24866 - 2014 “Glued double-glazed windows for construction purposes” must be at least 20 years.

Photo: replacing a double-glazed window or installing a new window? More than 20 years have passed since the first plastic windows with double-glazed windows appeared in Russia. Therefore, today many property owners are faced with a choice: buy new plastic windows or repair them.

If the window profile remains white, is not stained and is easy to clean, and the fittings work without interruption, then it is not necessary to completely replace the window. You can get by by replacing the glass unit, thereby upgrading the window and getting a new level of comfort and safety.

Replacing double glazed windows advantages:

  • 50% of the cost of a new window
  • Does not require window dismantling,
  • There will be no dust, dirt,
  • There is no need to re-finish the slopes.

Replacing a double-glazed window cons:

  • Possible when the profile and fittings are in good condition
  • When the window is well installed and there are no blows along the installation seam

How much does it cost to replace glass on a smartphone?

If you go to workshops, you will have to pay for the screen and the work of the master, which, depending on the workshop and region, can be estimated at 500-1000 rubles. By replacing the glass yourself, you can save money. In this case, it is better to order the sensor through a well-known Chinese website, which will save even more.

If you change the display in the cabin on a new smartphone, the replacement will be very expensive and often amounts to 50% of the cost of the phone itself, and sometimes even more. Therefore, if you have the skills to replace displays and sensors, then sometimes it pays to do it all yourself, even if it takes much more time than in a workshop.

In cases where the sensor and matrix of a smartphone are one unit, replacement will also be expensive, because the matrix itself is an expensive element, and the price of the sensor is cheap. Of course, the image on such displays looks high-quality, but if the glass falls and gets damaged, repairs cost a lot of money.

When does a glass unit need to be replaced in a window?

You can determine the need to replace a double-glazed window in a window based on the following signs.

Symptoms of “diseases” of double-glazed windows:

  • Condensation has appeared inside the double-glazed window between the panes - depressurization
  • Cracked glass unit - installation errors or thermal shock
  • A glass unit breaks - mechanical damage

Photo: the main reasons for replacing double-glazed windows are mechanical damage and fogging

Signs of technologically outdated double-glazed windows:

  • It’s cold in the apartment or house – the glass in the double-glazed unit is technically outdated
  • Noise from the highway - double-glazed windows with inadequate sound insulation
  • The room is heated by the sun through the windows - the glass unit does not contain solar control or multifunctional glass
  • High heating bills in a private home - the glass in a double glazing unit is technically outdated
  • Curious glances from passers-by - no special mirror glass installed
  • Grilles on the windows - triplex is not installed in the double-glazed window

A broken or depressurized glass unit must be urgently replaced; it cannot be repaired.

If the double-glazed window is intact, but the window was installed in the early 1990s or 2000s, then we can say that the double-glazed window is morally and technically outdated. This means that the owner of the windows does not receive the required level of comfort. Innovative technologies have made glass 50% warmer, the level of sun protection has increased by 40-60%, the glass has become safer and soundproof.

How to insert it yourself: step-by-step instructions

The installation of a new decorative part in the door leaf should begin not with the work itself, but with measurements. It is necessary to accurately determine the size of the future insert. When carrying out measuring work, you need to remember that the glass itself should not fit into the grooves too tightly, otherwise it may burst again from strong pressure.

To install a new insert you will need the following equipment:

  • sealant;
  • small nails;
  • hammer;
  • glue;
  • rubber insert.

The replacement itself is quite simple in several steps:

  1. The sealant is applied on one side of the door leaf into special grooves for glass.
  2. The newly purchased insert is inserted into the elastic band and then installed in the grooves. It is possible to glue glass and wood directly without using such a rubber seal, but such an installation will be unsafe, and the glass itself will not be securely fixed in the grooves.
  3. The sealant is applied again, but on the other side of the door.
  4. After 5 minutes, the previously removed beads are installed. If necessary, they should be securely fixed using special small nails.
  5. The door leaf must be left motionless for another couple of hours. During this time, the entire structure will be completely secured inside the door.

You can glue glass into a wooden door not only using sealant, but also special wood or universal glue. The application of sealant also remains a mandatory part, but this step is performed after the glass is installed.

It is best to do this work after removing the door from its hinges. This installation option is the simplest and is suitable for regular rectangular glass.

The technology itself can be used for other types of inserts installed not only in ordinary doors, but also in sliding or collapsible ones.

If the glass is located in the side door, and it is not possible to remove the leaf itself from the hinges, then it is necessary to secure the door leaf firmly so that it does not move during operation.

Replacing double glazing in a plastic window – which one to choose?

When replacing a double-glazed window, it is important to determine the necessary functions and choose glass for a specific task.

✔ It’s cold in the apartment, house

If in winter the heating devices do not cope and the house is cold, 2-chamber double-glazed windows (3 glasses) with energy-saving Planibel TOP N+ i-glass will help to save heat.

Photo: operation of a 2-chamber double-glazed window with energy-saving i-glass TOP N+* You can increase the heat-saving properties of a double-glazed window by installing two such glasses in a double-glazed window and filling the internal chambers with inert gas. To 100% eliminate heat loss, you can order a 3-chamber double-glazed window (4 glasses) with energy-saving glass, which are currently available from a limited number of manufacturers. In this case, multifunctional Energy Light glass is also suitable, which, in addition to protection from the cold, will save you from the heat in summer.

✔ High heating and air conditioning bills

Heating and air conditioning of a country house is a significant expense item. Double-glazed windows with energy-saving and at the same time solar-protective Energy Light glass will help reduce them. The multifunctional Energy Light glass coating does not allow thermal radiation to pass through - heat from the batteries is reflected back into the apartment, and solar heat is reflected outside. Double-glazed windows will effectively regulate heat gain in summer and retain heat inside during winter frosts.

Replacing a double-glazed window in a window – what should you consider?

  • It is not advisable to install solar control glass in rooms where there is little sunlight - in constant shade or on the north side of the building. Sun protection is not required here. The best option for such premises would be to install i-glass with high heat-saving properties or new generation multifunctional glass, which has higher heat-saving properties.
  • Saving on double-glazed windows when purchasing windows (about 200 rubles per 1 m2) will turn into a problem at the very first frost. Their cost can be reduced by using low-quality raw materials (sealants or desiccant). Such double-glazed windows will begin to become covered with moisture from the inside, which is impossible to get rid of. Poor quality sealant will begin to melt in the sun, leaving indelible marks and emitting an unpleasant odor.

In these cases, you will have to change the double-glazed window, and its cost ranges from 1200 to 2000 rubles per 1 m2.

There is an opinion that multifunctional glass has a bad effect on the growth of plants and seedlings. Calculations of the industry center O.K.N.A. Marketing shows that the direction of the world (south or north) has a significant impact on growth rather than the type of glass. The volume of ultraviolet radiation entering the southern and northern windows differs by 5 times, and the difference in the volume of light entering through a window with ordinary and multifunctional glass is only 12%.

Photo: multifunctional glass has virtually no effect on the growth of plants on the window; the side of the world on which the window faces (south or north) is of significant importance. Therefore, the lucky owners of the south side should not worry about the growth of plants - glass with coatings will let in sufficient sunlight , at the same time, they will relieve plants from burns from overheated glass in the summer. Eastern, western and northern windows receive enough light when the sun shines through them, but this period is short-lived. However, amateur gardeners know that to grow light-loving seedlings in the period from February to March, phytolamps are required on all windows without exception. During the period of its growth, the duration of daylight hours is only 9-11 hours, with 14-16 hours required for active growth. Fortunately, the cost of such lamps is low, starting from 600 rubles.

Protective glass or film: what to choose?

When choosing a defense mechanism, every user asks the question - which is better? It is impossible to answer this question unequivocally, since each means of protection has pros and cons.

Protective glass provides reliability when the phone falls, but at the same time increases its thickness. The film is practically invisible during operation, and is also much cheaper, but the level of protection is lower. Despite the differences in certain parameters (degree of protection, price, durability), the principle of gluing these elements is the same.

Most protective accessories have brief instructions on the sticker, but manufacturers are silent about some factors, so we’ll look at each point step by step.

Is it possible to replace a double-glazed window in a window with your own hands?

Replacing a double-glazed window in a window consists of several stages:

  • Call a measurement specialist from a window company. To order double-glazed windows, you will need their dimensions - width, height and thickness.

Photo: replacing a double-glazed window with a new one

  • The master will advise on the types of glass and advise what to choose.
  • Drawing up a contract and payment (in many companies this can be combined with the visit of a measurement specialist)
  • Delivery and installation of double-glazed windows.

Replacing double-glazed windows yourself is good if you have experience. In other cases, it is better to entrust this work to professionals:

  • The glass unit cannot be reduced if the size is wrong
  • The double-glazed window is heavy (a square meter of a 2-chamber double-glazed window weighs 30 kg) and at the same time fragile. It is enough to put it on the floor or touch it at an angle when carrying it and it may burst.
  • The glass unit is installed in the opening on special linings that transfer the weight to the sash and frame. An incorrectly installed double-glazed window will cause the sash to warp and cause it to not work properly.

New double-glazed windows will give the window a second life, and the choice of glass taking into account the necessary needs of the residents in the house will make life more comfortable and safe.

AGC Glass Measurement App

In order to understand which double-glazed unit is installed in your window, what thickness of glass is installed and whether there is glass with special energy-saving or multifunctional coating among them, you can use the special application “AGC Glass Measurement App” (on Google Play and AppStore).

Photo: AGC Glass Measurement App* To determine the presence of energy-saving or multifunctional glass, you need to use the backlight of your smartphone - with its help, an image is projected onto the glass unit. Each glass will reflect this image and if one of them is different in color, then there is a coating on the glass.

The thickness of the glass can be measured without removing the glass unit from the window - just bring the smartphone to the glass unit at an angle of 45 degrees.

Installing plastic windows (double glazing) is a modern and reliable way to protect your home from noise and cold. Despite the long service life, sometimes you have to think about replacing the glass in a double-glazed window. This is a rather complicated process, often requiring a call to a specialist. However, you can do the work yourself, especially if you know some of the subtleties.

Dust particles as a separate problem

There is a possibility of noticing a speck of dust after the procedure is completed. In such cases, you will need to re-raise the glass. This operation can be performed using a bank card. Additionally, take a small strip of stationery tape.

  1. Pick up the edge of the glass that is closest to the speck of dust.
  2. Place a piece of tape on the problem area
  3. Quickly tear it away from the screen.
  4. Return the protective glass to its original position.

Hello! Indeed, as Felicity noted, “few people succeed the first time.” But what if this “time” is the only one? And is there a high risk of getting poorly glued glass with lakes of air under it? But you can get excellent results the first time. But this requires an understanding of the essence of the process and appropriate equipment of the workplace. First, I will describe the essence of the process. Since all objects are plastic, when manipulating them, they are easily electrified. And while the old film peels off, the screen is rubbed with a napkin, the film is removed from the new glass, the surface of the screen and the new glass become electrified and manage to attract microparticles from the air. Microparticles fall from clothes, scalp hair... You never know where! We cannot see them with the ordinary eye. But by gluing glass or film to the screen, they begin to be clearly visible as air bubbles. And it will not be possible to remove such a bubble, because the microparticle has already “glued” into the adhesive layer of glass or film. The air would be squeezed out during ironing, but the particle would not. But it creates some kind of cavity for air. Therefore, the main requirement is to deelectrify the working volume, remove electrical charges from yourself, from clothes, from glass, from the screen. For this; 1. Prepare a spray bottle. A very convenient bottle (25 - 50 ml) with a pressure sprayer made of ethyl alcohol (buy at a pharmacy). Fill an empty bottle with preferably distilled water with half a drop of Ferry. Read and consider Felicity's addition. Practice spraying thin layers on any item. 2. Choose the table at which you will work. There should be no passing air flows or drafts capable of carrying dust. 3. Wipe the table surface with a damp cloth with a small amount of Ferry. This will remove static from the table surface and remove and bind any remaining dust. 4. Boil a kettle with a spout in advance and place it on the work table on an electric stove, 30 - 40 centimeters from the work area. So that it gives a stream of steam passing 40 - 50 centimeters above the table. This steam will remove static from objects in the work area. But don't overdo it. There should be no condensation in the form of rain or showers. 5. Prepare all the components on the table. 6. Wash your hands and preferably your face with soap a couple of times. When washing your hands, you “ground” yourself through a stream of water (and water conducts electric current) through the water supply system. And you will wash away microparticles of skin and fat from your face. This will not only give you clean hands (which is very important), but also refresh yourself before work. 7. Perform all the operations described by the author of the article and use the add-on from Felicity. In 12–17 minutes, if you carefully read the article and recommendations, you will get beautifully glued glass without air inclusions. Tested many times by svoimirukami!

Many people may drop their phone during use and carry it in their bag, where, in addition to the phone, there are also sharp objects - for example, keys.

Therefore, it is not surprising that after several months of use, scratches appear on the surface, and in some cases, chips and cracks.

However, using modern technologies, it is possible to extend the life of the device. An excellent solution is to purchase and glue protective glass.

Visually, it strongly resembles a film designed to solve similar problems.

But such glass is completely transparent and flexible, and due to its increased density it is considered more durable and reliable.

The cost of a protective screen for a phone is an order of magnitude higher compared to film, but the additional money spent is well worth the stated price.

If it is present, the likelihood of the screen suffering from damage is reduced to virtually zero.

Reasons for replacing double glazed windows

If a double-glazed window loses its seal, then it’s time to update it. Tightness is a key property of plastic windows; without it, the design is meaningless.

The loss of tightness is not always visible to the naked eye, but the presence of a defect can be identified by the following signs:

  • the temperature in the room decreases;
  • the windows suddenly begin to fog up;
  • in the cold season the windows freeze;
  • More noise enters the room.

Upon careful inspection of the window, you can already see the problem - an installation error, a crack, or initially poor quality of the material.

In addition to such serious problems, the need for minor repairs may also arise. Whether the door won't close or the handle is blocked, any problem can be solved by choosing the right tools.

If you need to replace a broken single window in a wooden house, then you need to follow the advice of professionals.

How to replace a double-glazed window?

When the package itself is damaged, you just need to replace it with a new one. Before you begin dismantling the damaged double-glazed window, you should clearly measure the parameters of the opening. Based on these parameters, you will select a new package.

Now you can start reinstalling. Most often, a double-glazed window is fixed in the frame with glazing beads.

Before starting work, it is worth marking each of them with a number so that later you can easily determine their position (improper installation of the bead leads to the appearance of noticeable cracks).

For removal it is recommended to use the following tools:

  • rubber hammer;
  • a stick or rail 5-8 mm thick, which can be used as a lever;
  • knife or spatula with a thin blade.

How to change glass?

There is not always a need for a completely new double-glazed window. If only the glass is damaged, then excess expenses can be avoided by taking the trouble to replace it. To work, you will need the tools already mentioned, as well as a number of additional ones:

  • sealant and butyl tape;
  • construction gun;
  • solvent (acetone and the like);
  • chisel;
  • replacement glass;
  • glass cutter (if you do not plan to use the help of a cutter).

The inner part of the glass unit is an aluminum frame. The inside of its cavity is filled with silica gel. Glass is placed on the frame and secured with butyl tape.

The first part of the work repeats the procedure for replacing the package - it needs to be removed.

  • The first step is to remove the double-glazed window using the method already described.
  • Now you need to free the damaged glass. You can use a knife or chisel for this.
  • The glass is separated from the frame, on which the sealant remains. It must be cleaned and the surface degreased with a solvent.
  • Cutting glass requires extreme precision, so first measure the old one several times. An error in size greater than a millimeter is already considered unacceptable.
  • Wipe the cut glass with a rag. A new layer of sealant is applied to the frame of the bag using a gun, after which the glass can be inserted. It's easier to do this with a partner.

The glass must be applied straight away, because it quickly sticks to the frame. There will be no second attempt. As soon as the glass unit is dry, it can be returned to its place.

Useful tips

You can remove dust, debris or lint that gets on the display before installing the protective glass using tape. Cut a thin strip, stick it on the speck and sharply lift it by the edge - this procedure will not only get rid of debris and prevent the formation of air bubbles, but will also not leave marks.

If you are re-applying the protective glass, it can be removed and re-attached in a few seconds. Remember that even a slight distortion or the edge of the glass protruding by a fraction of a millimeter above the smartphone body can damage it and significantly reduce the level of protection.

Using your own experience and following our advice, you can re-glue the glass, replace and protect your phone with minimal effort. Share tips and results of your own experiments in the comments to the article, indicating the gadget model and the protection used.

Temporary glass repair

Let's say that you still calculated your chances and decided to call a specialist to install new glass. In this case, it won’t hurt to preserve the cracked glass using sealant. This is a temporary measure that will allow you not to freeze while waiting for repairmen.

For repairs, you can use a transparent sealant or optical glue, also transparent, of course. With their help, we can cover up cracks and cover the damaged area, preventing the cracks from spreading.

The sealant must be applied at least twice, with a break of 2-4 hours between them (more precise drying times for the sealant can be found in the instructions or on the packaging).

Let us clarify once again that this is only a temporary remedy that will prevent further cracking of the glass, but in no case will it prolong its life for a long time.

Installation of glass in the door

Required for work:

  • silicone gun;
  • silicone;
  • nails with chopped heads (preferably nickel plated);
  • glazing beads

Place the glass in the opening and make sure that all dimensions match. It is recommended to additionally cover the edge of the glass with strips of porous rubber. After this, you can safely treat the hole with silicone and hammer the glazing beads into their places.

Window adjustment

Over time, it happens that the windows are not pressed as tightly against the frame as before. There is no need to even say that this damages the thermal insulation and requires repair. Now we will figure out what to do in such situations.

All plastic windows have a clamping device. It is an elastic band that can fail due to gradual loss of elasticity or shrinkage.

Fortunately, window manufacturers are aware of this problem. In particular, for such cases, the windows are provided with a system for adjusting the clamping tension.

To adjust the mechanism on the windows there are special mechanisms - trunnions. These are the same metal “barrels” that move along the rails when you turn the handle. Usually they are mounted three or four per window. You can turn them using a hexagon or a regular flat-head screwdriver.

Each trunnion has two slots, a long one and a shorter one. It is their position that indicates how to rotate the mechanism. So, in order to increase the tension (this is exactly what is needed in case of problems with the elastic band), you should turn the trunnion so that the long slot looks inside the apartment, and the short one looks out. If it turns out that the window has become difficult to close, it means that the tension should be slightly eased by a slight turn in the other direction. You need to turn all the mechanisms, otherwise you will only get a partial effect.

Different windows may have slightly different mechanisms that are adjusted slightly differently. There are three options:

  • the axle is turned using a screwdriver, which is inserted into the groove in the center of the eccentric;
  • the trunnion is slightly pulled towards itself with pliers and only then turned;
  • the pin is simply turned with pliers, without pulling.

Before you start making adjustments, you should carefully check which method works.

On the windows of some manufacturers, this operation has to be carried out every season. The fact is that due to the characteristics of the material, the elastic band contracts slightly in winter and expands in summer. As a result, the clamping stress changes. This effect is not always noticeable, but if it happens, you will know what to do.

Pros and cons of safety glass

It's no secret that glass is not the only way to protect your display. For example, there are also protective films, but in terms of efficiency, glass still does a better job. Even the most budget glass will provide additional strength and protect the display from scratches and impacts. In addition, the advantages of protective glass include a long service life, compared with the same protective film.

Protective glass also has its drawbacks, namely the high cost and thickening of the smartphone. And the nearest store does not always have glass specifically for your phone, especially if the smartphone is not a recent model.
