What kind of oil should I put in a Matiz 0.8 box? Daewoo Matiz: manual transmission oil change instructions

Low prices for motor oils in the BERU store

Daewoo Matiz is a small A-class car, developed in South Korea with the help of Italian specialists who came up with the design of the future hatchback. At the same time, the design for the city car was borrowed from the Suzuki Alto of the 1980s. The machine entered production in 1998. The hatchback debuted with a 0.8 liter engine (52 hp) and a manual transmission. In 2000, restyling took place, and in 2001, production began in Uzbekistan. The car also received a more powerful unit with a volume of 1.0 liters (63 hp). A 4-speed automatic transmission was still available, but in 2008 the version with automatic transmission was no longer supplied to the Russian market. In the Russian Federation, Matiz was considered the cheapest foreign car, which in 2008 cost at least 185 thousand rubles. Production of the model ended in 2015.

When to change

Before changing the oil in the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission, you should pay attention to the mileage. The first time you will need to do this is after 40 thousand kilometers. In the future, a change can be made every 70 thousand. It is also recommended to check the condition of the automatic transmission. This is done in a few simple steps:

  • release the handbrake by pressing the brake pedal all the way;
  • move the switch lever to all possible positions.

There should be no extraneous sounds or shocks during the test. If they are, then this is already a reason to change the automatic transmission, since the existing parts are already very worn out. In the case when everything works fine, but you experience difficulty in driving, you need to change the transmission oil.

Checking the oil level and condition

Before changing the oil, the first thing to do is check the level. This is done simply:

  1. Place the car on a flat surface. Do not turn off the engine.
  2. Use a white cloth to wipe the dipstick.

If a trace of a bright light shade of red remains on it, then the lubricant life is high. This also signals that all gearbox elements are in good condition. If small black particles and a dark color appear on the rag, it is time to urgently change the oil. Otherwise, in the near future, the expensive automatic transmission will stop working and, most likely, will break down. Also check the oil level using the dipstick. If it is higher than the maximum, then remove the excess. A large amount can lead to carbon deposits on the entire Daewoo Matiz transmission. Also, keep the level low. In this case, the lubricant resource is simply not enough for the car. Try to avoid critical conditions.

Failure to follow simple rules will lead to rapid breakdown of the automatic transmission. And repairs are far from the cheapest. Calling a car service will significantly impact your wallet.

What is better to choose

In fact, you can choose almost any oil. The main evaluation criterion is the availability of certification and GOST. Be sure to review the product you are purchasing for availability. Unverified manufacturers offer cheap products, but they are the ones that can harm Matiz even more.

the recommended oil “ESSO JWS 3314” was indicated on the dipstick. Most often, drivers do not take this recommendation into account. It is best to choose the products presented above. But this oil also works well and shows good results when working in a Matiz automatic transmission. The manufacturer also recommends following the standards that are checked with a probe. But this is already a public fact that every driver follows, regardless of the model of his car.

Automatic transmission oil volume

Before changing the oil, many beginners have a completely natural question related to the required volumes. How much oil should be poured into the automatic gearbox on a Matiz? The answer is simple and is divided into two options:

  1. When changing the oil completely, you need to fill in 4.5 liters. The total volume of the Matiz box is 4.8 liters.
  2. With a half shift, add about 2.5 - 3 liters. It turns out that the sediment of the old oil is drained, the purer is diluted with fresh.

For the first time, it is recommended to change the lubricant exactly halfway. The mileage should be no more than 70 thousand kilometers. In the future, it needs to be completely changed.

You do not need to be a specialist to carry out this procedure. You can change the automatic transmission oil in a Daewoo Matiz in a few steps:

  1. Place the car on a level surface. It's best to go to the inspection hole.
  2. Unscrew the crankcase protection.
  3. Take a five-liter container and place it under the stream of oil that will flow after unscrewing the drain plug.
  4. Remove the automatic transmission pan.
  5. Wipe the entire surface to which the tray was attached.
  6. Remove the old automatic transmission filter. Install the new one in its place.
  7. Reinstall the wiped pan.
  8. Screw in the drain plug. Fill the automatic transmission with the same amount of oil as leaked.
  9. Warm up the Daewoo Matiz. To do this, let the engine idle for 15–20 minutes.

That's all. You have successfully changed the oil in the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission. As you can see, there is nothing complicated. Even an inexperienced driver can cope with this task.

To summarize, we can say that changing the oil in a Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission is not a complicated process. It is recommended to perform the procedure regularly. This will help get rid of annoying noise and improve handling.

The engineers have tears in their eyes, but they need to look at it differently. For a driver who is not keen on independently maintaining the car, the automatic transmission is a gear selection lever, it is a selector, on the center console in the cabin. This may be the tip of the iceberg, but from the top you can see a lot.

If the car did not show symptoms of malaise, to strengthen your understanding of the technical serviceability of the vehicle, check the operation of the gearbox.

Test No. 1

Let's proceed to one of the methods for checking the Matiz gearbox:

  1. We start the engine, confidently press the brake pedal all the way, and release the handbrake.
  2. Then, move the selector lever one by one to all positions.
  3. From mode “P” (parking) to mode “R” (reverse - moving backward), or when switching from mode “N” (neutral - no gear is occupied) to mode “D4” (drive - moving forward with sequential connection).

When the gear is engaged, there should be no shocks; loud, harsh sounds that frighten the timid driver should not be heard from somewhere in the depths of the car. The tachometer needle should sway slightly in the wake of the new gear and freeze at the new value; the engine will raise the tone of a contented rumbling, demonstrating the tractability and serviceability of the systems.

A similar check is carried out on a flat surface of the parking space.

WARNING: During road tests, do not take your eyes off the road for more than half a second!

Test No. 2

The second method is designed to check the gearbox:

  1. Let's hit the road in the Daewoo Matiz. Select “D” and move away from the parking area onto a flat road with the least traffic.
  2. At the beginning of the movement, smoothly press the gas pedal, each time by ear, or by the tachometer needle, determining when the gear shift occurs, and try to remember the shift intervals and the position of the needle.
  3. Then stop and start moving again, pressing the pedal so that you approach the moment of shifting more slowly, delaying the engagement of the next gear.

Do we see any jerks or suspicious sounds? On to the next test!

Yellow-green Daewoo Matiz

Test No. 3

Let's remember driving school and play manual transmission on an automatic machine.

  1. Press the “OverDrive” button on the selector, the “O/D OFF” sign will light up on the instrument panel.
  2. Let’s start driving by moving the lever to the “L” position, smoothly raising the engine speed while driving until the car begins to buzz diligently and ask for the next gear (tachometer value is around 3000 rpm).
  3. Let's move the lever to position 2 and raise the speed, resolving the desire of the gearbox by switching to “D4”.
  4. And for the last time, having gained a buzzing speed, we press the button on the selector, allowing the Matiz to rush at high speed.

Did the gears shift as if someone was holding the car by the rear bumper and letting go as you moved the lever? However, no irritating factors were found. Great, last road test left!

Blue-glazed Daewoo Matiz

Test No. 4

It is aimed at checking the aggressiveness of the automatic transmission.

  1. We accelerate the car to 50 km/h, then quickly press the gas pedal all the way, at this moment the automatic transmission will lower the gear, and you will feel a gentle push forward.
  2. Didn't have time to understand what happened? Then, from 50 km/h, start increasing the speed, and then press the “OverDrive” button.

Acceleration obtained - excellent, test passed!

Manufacturer's recommendations

the recommended oil “ESSO JWS 3314” was indicated on the dipstick.

A really worthwhile tip is to completely change the lubricant. It is produced to completely displace the old used one and replace it with a new one. This helps improve transmission performance and restore performance to values close to factory specifications. You just need to take into account that for the complete change procedure you will need an oil cooler. The manufacturer does not supply it with the car. In car repair shops, prices are rising every year, and a radiator is purchased once for the entire time.

For the first time, it is recommended to change the lubricant exactly halfway. The mileage should be no more than 70 thousand kilometers. In the future, it needs to be completely changed.

Complete replacement

All previous actions allowed us to drain no more than half of the oil, so this can only be called a partial replacement. Now we will need to replace the resulting mixture of old and new oil with completely new one. Preliminary “dilution” must be done in order to “thin out” the liquid a little, as this will help us in the future.

We disconnect the oil drain pipes leading to the cooling radiator and put hoses on the channels through which the oil will flow. They will drain the old oil into the appropriate canister or bottle. Prepare a container in advance where the used mixture will be poured. Keep in mind that the volume of oil drained may be larger than what fits in the entire box.

Simultaneously with draining the old oil, you will need to fill in new oil. So, after everything is connected, one of the assistants should hold the fluid with new oil slightly above the level of the neck, and the other should start the car. In just a second, old oil will pour into the prepared container. It has a dark color. But new oil will displace it. And, after 5-10 seconds, you will see that clean oil is pouring into the canister. It is at this moment that you need to give the command to your partner to turn off the engine.

That's all. You can remove the hoses and reconnect the oil drain pipes to the cooling radiator. Next, you will need to add oil through the appropriate hole to the maximum mark. Later check this indicator on a cold and warm engine.

Too high a level can damage the operation of the automatic transmission.

With this method, a little more than 10 liters of oil can be wasted. If you want to use the services of a specialized service, then keep in mind that even the presence of equipment that will push out oil will still not allow you to spend less oil.

How to carry out a shift in an automatic transmission

You do not need to be a specialist to carry out this procedure. You can change the automatic transmission oil in a Daewoo Matiz in a few steps:

Changing lubricant in automation

Structurally, the automatic transmission is designed in such a way that it is impossible to interfere with its operation. However, it is sometimes necessary to change the oil in the Daewoo Matiz automatic transmission. It is possible to change the oil in the box partially or completely. Before starting the procedure, the transmission must be warmed up. After this, place the car on the inspection hole. For an incomplete change, you need to drain the car oil and unscrew the drain cap. The transmission pan must be removed. It is advisable to do this with a partner to avoid tilting the tray. Drain off the remaining lubricant and wipe the parts with a dry cloth.

After this, remove and clean the oil filter. If necessary, change it to another one. Next, having returned everything to its place, pour in fresh petroleum product. Fill in the same amount as was drained.

It is more difficult to carry out a complete oil change in a Matiz automatic transmission; it is advisable to carry it out at a car service center. How to change the lubricant in a machine yourself? Remove the pipes that lead to the transmission cooler. Then connect the tubes through which the used consumable will flow into the bucket. While the oil is draining, fill in the updated consumable. The motor should be running at this time. After changing the oil, return everything back.

What kind of oil should I put in Daewoo Matiz?

What kind of oil should I put in Daewoo Matiz? Sooner or later, all car owners face this issue. Changing oil and other technical fluids is a regular procedure for car maintenance. Some motorists mistakenly believe that there is nothing complicated in the process of changing the oil. In fact, when changing oil, you should follow the manufacturer's recommendations for using a specific type and viscosity of technical fluid.

What engine oil is best to fill into the Daewoo Matiz engine in the summer?

First of all, the motorist should know which engine oil is best to fill into the Daewoo Matiz engine in the summer. The car engine requires the most attention. Oil plays a huge role in the durability of the engine, so it is necessary to monitor its quality and timely replacement.

Some may object to such an assurance, since manual transmissions require “all-season” GL 4, but our industry does not produce this category, therefore, when changing oil in gearboxes, GL 5 class products are used, which should only be used for axles. Apparently, for this reason, drivers and service technicians try to simultaneously change the oil in Gazelle axles and gearboxes. The most popular option for the Russian winter is oil of the 75W-90 class.

How much oil to fill in the rear axle of a gazelle.

Changing the oil in Gazelle or Sable axles is carried out on an overpass or in a horizontal position of the car, raised above the inspection hole. All work related to replacing lubricants is carried out when they are heated, as fluidity increases and drainage occurs faster. Many young drivers are not familiar with this procedure; they have neither the knowledge nor the skills, so it is better not to do this on their own.

Car mechanics will clean all pipes, drain and filler plugs, and holes from dirt and carefully drain the waste material. By the way, it is very difficult to unscrew the filler plug at the rear axle yourself. For this, specialists use special tools. If metal particles are noticed in the waste material, then the gearbox housing is washed, for this purpose the rear axle is placed on supports, about two liters of engine (with 30% diesel fuel) or transmission fluid are poured into the crankcase, and the filler hole is screwed in with a plug. The engine is started in first gear for 3 minutes, then the engine is stopped, the flushing is drained, everything is wiped again, and fresh oil is poured into the gearbox through the filler hole.

We replace the oil in the gearbox after 20–30 thousand kilometers.

We change the oil after the trip, while it is warm and has increased fluidity.

In addition, pollutant particles will be suspended.

Therefore, when draining the oil, these particles will be removed along with the oil.

Clean the breather screwed into the rear axle housing from dirt by turning its cap several times

Use a 12mm hex wrench to unscrew the drain plug.

Drain the oil into a container with a volume of at least 3 liters.

If the oil is dark in color* or metal particles are visible in it, wash the gearbox.

To do this, install the drain plug in place, clearing its magnet of chips

Using a 12mm hex wrench, unscrew the filler plug.

Using an oil syringe, pour approximately 2 liters of a mixture of transmission or engine oil with 20–30% kerosene or diesel fuel into the rear axle housing and replace the filler plug

Having placed stops under the front wheels, we hang up the rear axle.

Having started the engine, turn on first gear.

After 2–3 minutes, completely drain the flushing oil (draining time is at least 5 minutes).

After cleaning the drain plug again, screw it back into place.

Having unscrewed the filler plug, use an oil syringe to fill the crankcase with fresh transmission oil to the level of the filler hole, which corresponds to a volume of 2.2 or 3.0 liters (for a banjo axle).

The rear wheel bearings are lubricated with oil from the gearbox.

To fill the hubs with oil, jack up the right and left wheels alternately by 30 cm and hold in this position for 6–10 minutes.

After this, check the level and add oil to the gearbox.

Changing the oil in the gearbox on Daewoo Matiz 0.8 (manual transmission) - Autokadabra

Well, let's start with what I needed for this: 1. Oil in the box; We will need 2.4 liters of oil. I bought two of these cans. (I had to roll up for the third one)

2. Syringe for pouring oil; The cost of the syringe is 110 rubles. at the local car market. 3. Sealant; Found. I don’t remember how much it costs. 4. 12 and 24 mm wrench + 10 mm square socket wrench;

5. Acetone;

When everything is purchased, we go to the ditch.

Let me make a reservation: you only need to change the oil when the car is warm. The documents say that you need to drive 10 km before changing the oil.

Now, where is the box itself located?

We unscrew the bolts circled and see where we have to pour the oil.

Before draining the oil, thoroughly wipe the area around the bolts. So that dirt does not get into the unscrewed holes. It’s clear how to drain the oil. I unscrewed the oil and filler bolts and that was it.

Afterwards, the bolt and hole from which the oil has already been drained must be degreased. I did this with acetone. Then we coat the bolt with sealant and screw it into place. We twist it carefully, because... the bolt has a tapered thread. Next, through the upper hole, pour oil along the lower edge of this hole. (just fill until the oil flows over the top). Next, twist it and voila. All is ready.

Partial replacement

Having first turned off the engine, unscrew the plug of the transmission pan. About a third of the total oil will leak out from there. To drain a little more, you need to carefully unscrew the pan.

The main thing is not to make sudden movements, since by tilting the pan a little, we can spill the existing oil.

Next you will need to remove the filter, from under which some more oil may leak, so be careful! Quite a lot of “dirt” collects inside the filter, so it makes sense to wash it. To do this, you can use solvent or even gasoline. It is also recommended to blow out the filter. In addition, it will be possible, at the same time, to clean the pan, which we previously removed, from deposits. After that, we install everything in place - the filter, gasket (if there is one) and the pan.

In the hole in which the dipstick is located, you need to pour exactly the same amount of oil as you drained the old one.

However, even if you haven’t measured it, you can simply top it up to the maximum level.
