Model identification for Tomahawk one-way alarms
The old Tomahawk types CL-350 and CL-300 used the same key fobs, both came with the same ones - like most simple one-way alarms.
To accurately determine the brand and model of the Tomahawk alarm, you will still have to get to the central unit, if this is so important: the CL-500 has a built-in blocking relay, while the CL-350 has an external one connected. This is the difference between the two models.
Developing this line, Tomahawk releases the CL-550, which is still on sale. Here the keychains are also the same, the design has become much more aggressive.
The latest car alarm in the one-way line is CL-700. Misunderstandings often arise here - after all, both key fobs (also identical) have a liquid crystal display!
People who have bought cars with installed systems immediately have a question: why doesn’t the feedback work? It shouldn’t - the information on the screen changes every time the corresponding button is pressed, but the key fob will not warn you about an alarm being triggered.
Tomahawk keychain with two-way communication
To determine the Tomahawk car alarm model by the appearance of the key fob, you need to look at both – the main and the additional one. The fact is that some Tomahawk models used the same main ones, but the additional one, which is still used much less frequently, could be different in a cheaper model.
For Tomahawk, as for other representatives of the budget family, this feature is typical. But, what is especially important, externally identical keychains may not be compatible (!) - in order to find a replacement for a broken one or buy another one for convenience, you need to know the exact Tomahawk model. This confusion is mainly caused by alarm systems with auto start - their key fobs are assembled in the same housings as models without auto start, only the icons on the buttons differ, and sometimes - almost imperceptibly, due to ignorance of the nuances you can buy the wrong key fob.
It is not difficult to identify a Tomahawk by the key fob in the case of the Z1 - it seems that there is no feedback here.
Here, like other older models, instead of an LCD screen there are only control LEDs. A module with a short antenna covered by a plastic housing, this module model is used very often in Tomahawk.
The next ones - Z3 and Z5 - have a more modern main key fob, with a larger screen. All control buttons are on the side. The additional and antenna module have not been changed.
In Tomahawk 7.1, the style of key fobs became a development of the idea of CL-550: the shapes became even more elaborate and chopped.
However, carrying such keychains with you was not so convenient. Therefore, in the next model released, Tomahawk 7.2, the manufacturer made them more streamlined, and the additional one returned to the style of the CL-550:
The Tomahawk 7.2 CAN car alarm system features both CAN bus support and its own key fob design:
At the same time, the Tomahawk 9.3 system uses key fob housings again from 7.1, the difference is noticeable in the button markings:
Tomahawk 9.5 has the same design, but the button assignments have been changed:
Here the common (left) button is responsible for both closing and opening the doors. A CALL button has appeared on the antenna module to call the driver from the passenger compartment.
The Tomahawk 9.7 CAN key fobs are again streamlined, similar to the 7.2 CAN.
Pay attention to the difference in the icons of the additional key fob buttons - this is the easiest way to distinguish one system from another.
But the G-9000 and G-9000 CAN are completely identical in terms of key fobs.
Tomahawk 8.1 and 10.1 have their own key fobs, with characteristic chopped features. The difference between them is again in the icons on the buttons. In 8.1 they are double, disarming and arming are performed with separate buttons:
Tomahawk 10.1 uses a common button to arm and disarm, and a CALL button has appeared on the antenna module:
Car alarms Tomahawk X3, X5 have the same design of key fobs and antenna module.
The difference between them is the presence of auto start in the X5, that is, the same story is repeated as with the Z3/Z5. By the way, their key fobs are interchangeable (unlike the antenna module!).

Tomahawk D-700 has its own key fobs and antenna module.
The D-900 differs from the D-700, again, only in the icons on the buttons and disarming/arming the same one, the antenna module and the key fob housings themselves are taken from the D-700.
TW-7000 was equipped with two versions of the main key fobs. Pay attention to the design of the antenna module.
In the TW-7010, both the additional key fob and the purpose of the buttons on the main one (and, accordingly, the icons on them) are different. The antenna module is also different from that used on the TW-7000, both in appearance and in the absence of a CALL button.
The TW-7100 alarm system differs from the TW-7000 alarm system in terms of functions and button icons.
The TW-9000 has again changed the icons and button usage.
The immediately noticeable difference with the LR-950 is the long wire antenna on the module.
But the old LR-1010 can be confused with the TW-4000 at first glance. But only the first one, there are enough real differences:
The Tomahawk S-700 has moderately chopped key fobs that are quite easily recognizable:
The SL-950 model differs in both the purpose/iconograms of the buttons and the antenna module.
If we take the already familiar additional key fob and antenna module, we get TZ-7010. The icons on the buttons are different again, please note!
The Tomahawk TZ-9010 differs from the S-700 in appearance only in the icons.
Depending on the model, the alarm system may be equipped with an auto-start option; the average distance of reliable signal reception is at least 1 km.

Model recognition criteria
How to recognize the Tomahawk model, varieties and what to look for, we will consider further. First, you need to find out what are the main differences between the products of the manufacturer in question and other security systems. A special feature of the complex is that the security system is equipped with a five-button key fob with a logo on the reverse side and the inscription Tomahawk. Each signaling model from one company also has certain differences.
Varieties of Tomahawk models
The first security systems of this manufacturer are known under the TW 9010 and TZ 9010 series. It is noteworthy that these types of alarms are almost identical. In the updated version of TZ, the remote control has been slightly modified and a new antenna module has appeared. Keychains of one and the other model are compatible and interchangeable.
The Z5, X5, X3 series are similar to each other. The first option is considered the most successful in terms of layout, the others are as close as possible to it, although the X5 has a range of 1000 m, which is 200 m less than that of its brothers. These systems are security systems with feedback, which allows you to receive a signal on a remote control or smartphone about a door being broken into, a car being damaged, or an attempted theft.
Reliable budget car security systems Z1 and TZ 9010. The range of the first option is 1000 m, the second sample keeps the module connected to the key fob up to 1300 m. In addition to the low price, the presented models have a number of advantages for which buyers appreciate them:
- Two-step security deactivation;
- Programmable block with LCD screen;
- Turbo timer mode.
The TZ 9020 model is convenient because it has an autostart system that allows you to warm up the car in the cold season without disarming it. Range - 1200 m. Samples TW 7000 and TW 7010 have non-volatile memory, a car search function, a double shock sensor and protection against false alarms.
According to user experience
Tomahawk alarm system has been present on the Russian market for a long time. This is the middle segment of anti-theft systems offering decent quality and good functionality.
Most often, a used car already has an anti-theft system installed. The previous owner can give virtually no information about it. How to find out the name of the alarm system installed on the car?
This can be done without the remote control by reaching the control unit. Boo is often installed in an inaccessible place, and getting to it takes some effort.
The name of the security system can also be determined by the remote control. Let's look at how to find out the Tomahawk alarm model using a key fob below.
Setting up autorun
Before setting up automatic start, the user must insert a working battery into the communicator and link it to the alarm control unit.
This function cannot be used if:
- the ignition system is turned on;
- open engine compartment;
- parking brake released;
- the alarm service mode is on;
- For a vehicle with a manual transmission, the gearbox has not been prepared (soft neutral).
Setting the software neutral:
- The vehicle's parking brake lever is raised. The engine must be running at this moment.
- Then the button with the indicator in the form of a key is pressed on the communicator. After this, an icon in the form of smoke from a muffler should appear on the key fob screen. The pager will also emit a melodic signal.
- Over the next 30 seconds, the user must turn off the ignition system, exit the passenger compartment and close all doors. After these steps, security should automatically turn on.
How to start a car remotely?
To set up autorun on command, when protection is enabled, the user must press the button on the key fob. External lighting devices will sound three times, and the corresponding indicator will appear on the remote control screen. The power unit will operate for a certain time configured by the consumer. To increase and decrease this indicator by 5 minutes, use the key and locked buttons on the key fob, respectively. You can turn off an engine started remotely using a similar key.
Temperature trigger setting
To adjust the operation of the power unit by temperature, perform the following steps:
- To activate the function, two key fob buttons are pressed simultaneously - with indicators in the form of a key and an open luggage compartment.
- External lighting devices will blink, and a fan-shaped icon will appear on the pager screen. The device will play a melodic signal. When the temperature drops to the specified value, the power unit will start.
- To disable the function, you must simultaneously press the key and trunk open buttons. When the engine is turned off, the external lights will blink twice.
Setting a timed trigger
This function is activated by simultaneously “clicking” on the buttons with the key and the crossed out speaker. After activation, an icon in the form of a clock dial will appear on the key fob screen. The Tomahawk alarm will perform a daily engine start at the time the function was enabled. To disable the option, similar buttons are used.
When turning on the timer, use the buttons with:
- closed lock - to activate the timer option after 1 hour;
- key - to start every 2 hours;
- open trunk - to start the engine at intervals of 4 hours;
- crossed out horn - for a 12-hour start.

The Molyarka channel in its video showed in detail the process of setting up a remote engine start on a car with a Tomahawk alarm system.
Which Tomahawk is installed on the car?
What kind of whitefish is on the car? There are several ways to determine the name of the anti-theft system using the key fob.
If your pager is lost and you need to find out the alarm version to purchase a new device. What to do in this situation? The model of the security system can be determined by the control unit. Find him. Inspect the case carefully for inscriptions.
Photos of additional remote controls
A spare alarm key fob is used if the main one is lost or damaged. The second communicator controls only the main functions: opening and closing doors, opening the trunk. The pager does not have an LCD display. The alarm marking can also be determined by the second key fob. Compare your pager with the photos of the remote controls below and determine the Tomahawk model.
