Let's look at some problems that may arise when installing Webasto without reading the installation instructions.
In some cases, installation of Webasto by unqualified specialists can lead to expensive repairs. The owner of a Kia Mohave contacted us.
A diesel Webasto Thermo Top Evo with a power of 5 kW was installed on the car.
Webasto Thermo Top Evo had the following problems (according to the client):
- Doesn't start at the moment.
- Previously, when the heater was started, there was a lot of noise in the cabin.
- The pump (fluid pump) is not attached.
Before we begin repairs, we carry out a visual inspection and computer diagnostics. Diagnostics produced 2 errors.
- Error 88h “Water pump circuit interruption”
- Error 87h “Permanent blocking of the heater”
If there is no connection with the liquid pump, or if there is a short circuit in the circuit (in the wiring or inside the pump), the heater does not start (blocked). There are 2 options.
- Short circuit inside the liquid pump.
- Short circuit or break in the pump harness.
We replaced the pump, the error did not go away. The tourniquet remains. But in order to check the harness, you need to get to the heater; to do this, you had to dismantle the front bumper.
Webasto was installed in the front left.
What is Webasto?
Although among car enthusiasts this name is assigned not only to the entire list of the concern’s products, but also to its analogues created by other manufacturing companies, most often when talking about Webasto, car enthusiasts mean an autonomous engine heater installed under the hood of a car, the main function of which is pre-heater ( before turning on) warming up the engine.
Carrying the timer harness into the cabin
The timer harness is laid along with the rest of the wiring, which goes into the car interior or wherever you find free space.
