Homemade home car wash

Do-it-yourself car wash from a canister

Any motorist knows how difficult and not very pleasant it is to wash a car in cold weather.
Based on this, most of them prefer to drive an unclean car in cold weather. My car wash allows you to wash your car clean almost instantly with a small amount of water. The procedure is so pleasant that you will want to wash your car every day - just pour a couple of liters of hot water with car shampoo into the wash, insert the plug into the cigarette lighter and press the button in the brush handle.

Details for making a car wash can be purchased at any Auto Parts store. This is a washer motor from a “nine” or from a “Volga”, a brush for a hose for washing a car, a “cigarette lighter” plug, two hoses 3 m long with diameters of 6 and 10 mm, a micro button, a two-core electric wire 5-6 m long, brass M8 bolt with washer and nut, six galvanized self-tapping screws d4x12 mm, two polyethylene canisters with a capacity of 10 liters and a little sealant.

I used canisters left over from purchased Bereginya drinking water.

I cut one of the canisters as shown in photo 1 and fig. 2. A “second bottom” is formed with a shuttle for rotating the cover wire and winding power.

1. Used polyethylene drinking water cans are perfect for making a car wash.

2. Bottom view of the canister before installing the “second bottom” with the washer motor attached. A piece of corrugated plastic hose must be placed over the brush handle before assembly.

3. To supply water to the brush, you need to press the micro-button hidden in the handles. It is not necessary to keep it pressed all the time; short-term pressures (30-50 s) with breaks of 15-20 s are sufficient.

The washer motor was secured with a clamp made from a strip of plastic from the same canister using a brass M8 bolt with a washer and nut, placing it on the sealant. Plastic bushings on which the hoses are placed are each suitable tube from the bodies of felt-tip pens, markers or ballpoint pens.

The car wash structure is clearly visible in Fig. 1. First, I pulled the wires and a narrow hose into a d10 mm hose, after which it was threaded into a pre-cut hole in the canister and secured with a sleeve. I also attached the receiving tube to the washer motor. I soldered a microbutton to the upper (see Fig. 1) ends of the wires, which I glued inside the handle.

It can be decorated with a piece of corrugated hose d25 mm. The lower ends of the wire were also soldered in accordance with Fig. 1. After unsoldering the wires, I put on the “second bottom” and secured it with self-tapping screws. After that, I also attached the rotary cover. As demonstrated by almost a year of operation of the car wash, polyethylene fits the self-tapping screw so well that additional sealing of the connection is not necessary.

The same can be said

and about the bushings to which the connecting hoses are attached.

After that

Once the car is washed, I remove the brush hose inside the canister through the neck, wind the wire around the shuttle and close it with a rotating lid. During the winter period, at temperatures below 0°C, if the sink is stored in an unheated garage or car trunk, the water from the canister should be drained completely.

DIY high pressure washer

A high-pressure washer is a convenient device that allows you to easily wash your car, as well as other surfaces in your home. Thanks to the strong water pressure, such devices are able to clean even heavily soiled surfaces without the use of detergents.

Such devices are usually installed in car washes and cost a lot of money. The Karcher high pressure washer has deservedly gained popularity, but not everyone can buy it. Therefore, for use at home, you can make a car wash with your own hands. A homemade car wash is an excellent alternative to professional Karcher devices, which you can assemble yourself from available materials.

Industrial pressure washer

Assembling a high pressure washer with your own hands

A rather important nuance when assembling a sink is the creation of grounding. For the grounding device, you can use a plug with a grounding terminal and a flexible, double-insulated, three-core wire. In addition, the electrical outlet is also grounded through a loop.

The assembly sequence is approximately as follows:

  • installation of electrical parts;
  • assembling a gun with nozzles;
  • installation of high pressure hoses.

Important! Installation of a high-pressure washer must be carried out in strict accordance with the recommendations of the companies that manufacture structural elements.

In addition, it is necessary to take into account the load exerted on the fastening elements (bolts), use anaerobic type fasteners, etc.

Connecting a homemade high-pressure washer to the main water supply is done using a hose, the length of which must exceed seven meters. This allows you to level out possible pressure surges in the water supply system.

In the case of organizing recharge of the sink from a reservoir, its capacity must be at least thirty liters, and the hose is equipped with a check valve, which allows increasing the operating pressure of the unit.

Some car enthusiasts, when designing high-pressure washers, include one more additional function. This is water heating. Warm water not only removes old dirt more effectively, but also makes the washing procedure more pleasant in low temperatures.

The working fluid is heated by installing a special burner in the sink body.

What is needed for making

To make a Karcher high pressure washer you need to find suitable materials. You can use scrap items or buy new ones at the store. So, to create a mini-wash you will need:

  • Water container. The container will contain water that is used for washing. The tank should have a capacity of about 5 liters, otherwise you will have to constantly refill the car wash near the water source. You should not choose a container that is too large, as washing will be very heavy. You can use an old plastic canister or bottle as a water reservoir. When choosing a container, you need to make sure that there are no seams at the bottom of the tank.
  • Gun for irrigation hose. This attribute can be purchased at any garden supply store. In addition, you can make a gun yourself.
  • Rubber hose with a length of 0.5 to 4 m.
  • Several hose connectors.
  • Sealant.
  • Using a simple set of equipment you can assemble a Karcher type sink. Also, a homemade car wash will require the use of a set of tools that can be found in any home: a sharp knife, a compressor or a car pump.

Making a high pressure washer from a canister

Do-it-yourself car wash without additional equipment

To wash your car with your own hands, you need to stock up on a rag, a sponge and a bucket. There should also be a source of water within walking distance. If there is a water supply nearby, then a watering hose will come in handy, which will replace a bucket. We begin washing with our own hands with water douches. We completely soak the car, starting from the top. Don't forget about the wheels and the bottom.

After preparation, dilute car shampoo in a bucket of water and apply foam to the car. You must use a DIY cleaning product. After a short wait, the shampoo must be completely rinsed off the surface of the body and the car wiped with a prepared damp cloth. If desired, the paintwork can be waxed and the tires treated with ink.

When carrying out the procedure yourself, you must use a special car shampoo for hand washing as the main cleaning agent. As for the rest of the auto chemicals - waxes, polishes, means for removing local contaminants, ink - when choosing them, it does not matter how you want to wash the car. The same products are suitable for both DIY washing and using a high-pressure apparatus.

How the device works

A DIY high pressure washer will work on the same principle as conventional car washes. The water is supplied through a rubberized hose under high pressure. Air is pumped into a container of water by a car pump, which creates excess pressure in the tank. Water is pressurized to the outside and released when the trigger of the watering gun is pulled. Thanks to the strong water pressure, a car wash can clean any surface.

In this case, the pump is used exclusively to pump air into the tank. You can replace the constant use of a pump by installing a pump that will allow you to increase the pressure manually. Also an alternative to automobile pumps are plunger pumps.

Types of high pressure washers

Plunger pumps are modern devices that belong to metering-type hydraulic devices. The plunger pump independently mixes water and detergents in selected proportions and supplies the mixture under high pressure. The disadvantage of installing such a pump is the excess final weight of the car wash.

Mini-wash makes work easier

Having a high pressure washer simplifies the job of cleaning your car from dirt. If you want to save time, you can simply rinse the car. To do this, use a mini-wash water jet to spray the car. Start with the roof, go down the body, and at the end, spray the arches and wheels with water. Moreover, the flow of water must be directed towards the car at an angle of 45 degrees. After the procedure, the car can be wiped down, but it is not necessary. Here everything depends on desire and weather conditions.

Full car wash

If thorough washing is required, the process becomes significantly more complicated. To begin with, the car body, wheels, arches and bottom must be completely doused with water to remove most of the dirt. To carry out quality work, you must first eliminate point contamination. This is done by applying special auto chemicals for various purposes:

  • for rubber;
  • for disks;
  • for plastic parts;
  • for removing insect marks and other stains.

After applying the necessary chemicals to the car, it is recommended to wait a couple of minutes so that the products are absorbed and the expected effect is obtained. Then we pour car shampoo into the foam generator and put it on the high-pressure apparatus. The nozzle simultaneously supplies car chemicals and water, turning them into foam, which we cover the entire car with. According to the technology, it is applied with a ladder from the bottom up and remains on the car until it begins to drain. You will have to wait about two minutes, then we begin to wash off the foam in the same way as we applied it - from the bottom up, using a ladder.

The culminating stage of cleaning a car with your own hands is to thoroughly rinse it and wipe it dry. You need to start this procedure from the roof of the car and go down. Upon completion of washing, the body can be treated with protective wax. And renew the visible part of the tires with a special ink.

What auto chemicals are suitable for a mini-wash?

There are many car shampoos on the shelves today. But if you plan to wash your car using additional equipment, then you should choose a special product for high-pressure washers. This chemistry forms a good foam and is endowed with properties for the highest quality cleaning of a car from various contaminants. And to ensure maximum shine for a clean car, it is better to choose a wax with an intense water-repellent effect.

How to assemble a car wash with your own hands

Initially, you need to prepare a water tank. To do this, using a sharp knife, you need to cut a hole in the lid of the canister, which will be narrower in diameter than the nipple. After this, a nipple is threaded through the inside of the lid.

Tip : If the hole is larger than required, the gaps must be additionally sealed.

Through the nipple in the lid, the pump will pump air into the tank, and will also fill with water and detergents.

Next, you need to prepare a system for connecting the canister to the watering gun. To do this, you need to cut a hole in the bottom of the canister close in diameter to the coupling. The coupling is attached from the inside of the canister; you can wind it using a piece of wire. After threading the hose connector, sealant must be applied around the circumference. A fitting is also attached to the coupling.

Approximate diagram of a homemade high pressure washer

After the sealant has dried, you can begin preparing the sink for use. To do this, plug the fitting with your finger and pour water into the canister. You can also add any detergents (specialized car washes or household chemicals) to the tank. The nipple must be connected to a car pump and gradually inflate the canister with air. While performing this action, you need to ensure that the canister does not inflate too much. If it was decided to install a plunger pump or pump, then they are attached to the fitting using connecting hoses.

Having completed these steps, a rubber hose is connected to the fitting, at the end of which a watering gun should be attached.

Setting up the operation of a homemade high pressure washer

Tip : You can check the correct assembly by pressing the trigger of the gun. If, as a result, water begins to flow from the gun with strong pressure, then the device is assembled correctly. If this does not happen, then the canister is leaking air and you need to check all connections again and, if necessary, treat them with sealant.

Thus, it’s easy to assemble a mini-wash with your own hands; just follow the suggested instructions and buy a minimum set of equipment. As a result, within an hour you can produce a car wash, which in terms of the quality of work is no different from professional equipment in car dealerships.

Main parts of a pressure washer

A DIY sink consists of the following elements:

Scheme of a homemade mini-wash.

  • durable wear-resistant body;
  • engine running on gasoline or electricity;
  • high pressure pump;
  • containers for water and detergents;
  • additional nozzles;
  • water filters;
  • hoses.

The operating principle of a homemade car wash is extremely simple. Once connected, water from a water supply or a special container enters the sink container and is pumped through a pump. In maximum load mode, the washer operates at a pressure of about 160 bar. For comparison, a stream of water from a regular tap is supplied under a pressure of five bar.

Homemade car wash.

The next step is to supply water through a hose to the gun with a nozzle. It is advisable to equip the gun with a special nozzle that allows you to change the nature of the water flow - from a concentrated jet to spraying. The nature of the water supply should be determined based on how the surface will be cleaned. For example, to cover a large area (veranda or car body), the best option would be a fan jet. In order to remove fragments of stubborn dirt, it is advisable to use a point water supply.

Add-ons can include a nozzle with a rotating nozzle, a rotating brush and much more. The main advantage of using nozzles is contactless surface cleaning, which significantly reduces the risk of damage to the paintwork of the car body or the decorative surface of facade tiles.

When choosing parts for washing, you should not strive to achieve maximum power. A sink used at home can function normally at an operating pressure of 100 bar. Moreover, for a person who has not previously encountered such equipment, it will be problematic to operate a washer operating under high pressure.

Homemade home car wash

Are you tired of washing your car? Then there are two options: use the services of a paid stationary car wash or make the process of washing the car simple and interesting even in cold weather. If you have a lot of money, then use the first option or buy a Karcher mini-wash. Here we look at making a simple car wash . This car wash allows you to wash your car clean almost instantly with a small amount of water.

The procedure becomes so pleasant that you will want to wash your car every day - just pour a few liters of warm water with car shampoo into the sink, insert the plug into the cigarette lighter and press the button in the brush handle. The design of a homemade mini car wash with an operating voltage of 12 volts, i.e. can operate both from the vehicle’s on-board network, for example a cigarette lighter, and from a household electrical network through a rectifier with a 12-volt output.

Parts for making a homemade car wash can be purchased at any Auto Parts store or car market. This is a washer motor from a “9”, “Volga” or another car, it can be used, as long as it works, a brush for a hose for washing a car, a “cigarette lighter” plug, two 3 m long hoses with diameters of 6 and 10 mm, a micro button (switch), a two-core electrical wire 5-6 m long, a brass M8 bolt with a nut and washer, six galvanized self-tapping screws d4x12 mm, two polyethylene canisters with a capacity of 10 liters (you can also use them in any container you like) and some sealant. Choose the container according to the optimal principle - the size of the car wash - the amount of water for washing.

The car wash device is shown in the figure. The wires and a thin hose are first inserted into the d10 mm hose, then it is threaded into the pre-cut hole in the canister and secured with a sleeve. The receiving tube is also attached to the washer motor. A switch or button is installed on the brush, which can be glued inside the handle. It can be decorated with a piece of corrugated hose d25 mm. The lower ends of the wire are also connected according to the diagram.

Canisters from purchased drinking water are quite suitable.

One of the canisters is cut as shown in the photo. A “second bottom” is formed with a shuttle for winding the power wire and the rotary cover.

Bottom view of the canister before installing the “second bottom” with the attached washer motor. A piece of corrugated plastic hose must be placed over the brush handle before assembly.

To supply water to the brush, you need to press the micro button hidden inside the handle. It is not necessary to keep it pressed all the time; short presses (30-50 s) with breaks of 15-20 s are enough. The washer motor is secured with a clamp made from a strip of plastic from the same canister using a brass M8 bolt with a nut and washer, placing it on the sealant. Plastic bushings onto which the hoses are placed - any suitable tubes from the bodies of felt-tip pens, markers or ballpoint pens.

After unsoldering the wires, the “second bottom” is put on and secured with self-tapping screws. Then the rotary cover is also attached. The operation of a homemade car wash showed that polyethylene fits the screw rod so tightly that additional sealing of the connection is not required. The same can be said about the bushings to which the connecting hoses are attached.

After the car is washed, the brush hose is retracted inside the canister through the neck, the wire is wound onto the shuttle and closed with a rotating lid. In winter, at temperatures below 0°C, if the washer is stored in an unheated garage or car trunk, the water from the canister should be drained completely.

To the “advantages” of this simple do-it-yourself car wash you can add mobility, no connection to 220 Volts and no problems with water supply. The car wash is autonomous - I drove to a deserted place, washed it in about 15 minutes and the car was clean and my nerves were fine.

Some tips for washing your car:

• Wash your car as often as possible, ideally every week.

• Do not wash or treat the vehicle in direct sunlight. On a heated surface, preparations dry out very quickly, resulting in streaks.

• Don't conserve water. Abundant dousing washes away loose dirt and sand. If you rub a sponge over them, you can scratch the surface. The final rinse should be generous, otherwise streaks may appear.

• It is better to wash the car with a hose, adjusting the jet pressure. With enormous pressure, areas of the underbody, wheel arches and wheels are washed.

• Inspect the brush or sponge for any remaining sand. If they have sand left over from the preparatory wash, it can scratch the coating.

• Do not pull the hose through the body. Pulling a hose through a painted surface can bring sand onto the surface and cause scratches to form.

• Do not use household detergents, especially dishwashing detergents, instead of special car shampoos. The brutal chemicals contained in them to effectively dissolve fat can stain the car's paintwork and cause corrosion by penetrating microcracks in the enamel.

• For different car care operations it is necessary to use separate products and devices. For example, towels that may have been exposed to compounds containing silicone should not be used to clean glass. And it is completely unacceptable to wipe the body with a cloth that has been used to apply grinding pastes or other abrasive compounds.

• Do not use excessive force as this may damage the paintwork.

• To wash a new car, shampoo can be used immediately: the paintwork is already fairly hardened. But, if you purchased a car directly from an assembly line, it is better to refrain from washing with shampoo and wash the body only with warm water for the first 2-3 weeks. As for new repair coatings, shampoo can only be used three months after application.

• Car shampoo contains wax to clean the car while at the same time creating a shiny, waxy layer of protection. Car shampoo based on paraffins and solvents with a high wax content provides shine and wax protection to the body for several weeks.

• The car wash brush should be soft, with shaggy ends of synthetic bristles. To wash a large vehicle (buses, trucks), it is convenient to use a brush with a long or folding telescopic handle.

• After washing the car, water must be removed from the surface of the body in order to prevent the drops from drying out and causing stains and streaks. To do this, use small towels made of natural fibers, usually terry, or suede, which, unlike fabric, does not leave fibers and threads on the car. Natural suede - specially tanned leather, soft and elastic - no matter how annoying it may sound, over time it loses its elasticity and when dry it becomes like a piece of board, although it continues to absorb water, only it must be previously soaked and wrung out. Artificial suede does not have such a defect; it is made from natural production waste. In addition, it is more durable and less expensive. Even cheaper than artificial suede is synthetic suede (made of polyvinyl chloride). Some of its types have proven themselves better than natural suede and also absorb more water. Artificial and natural suede must be dried before storage, but synthetic suede can be stored with moisture.

Collecting additional elements for a car wash

When creating a car wash with your own hands, you will also need a coupling. This element connects the pump and the electric motor. For a high-pressure washer, the best option would be to use a “soft” coupling, since it can compensate for the misalignment of the shafts along the axis. In addition, this type of coupling plays the role of a fuse in case the pump or gearbox jams.

An important element in the design is the water container. After all, in order for the pump to operate smoothly and uninterruptedly, it must receive a certain volume of water. Most often, a tank is used as a container, which is connected to the water supply network. At the outlet, a special fine mesh is installed in the tank, which acts as a filter. This is necessary to prevent dirt from getting into the pump and disrupting its operation. The washing effect can be significantly improved by adding detergent to the tank.

Are you tired of washing your car? Then there are two options: use the services of a paid stationary car wash or make the process of washing the car simple and interesting even in cold weather.

If you have a lot of money, then use the first option or buy a Karcher mini-wash.

A high-pressure washer is a highly efficient unit used for professional cleaning of cars - paintwork, engine compartment, rims, and other elements.

The device is necessary to create high pressure, strong water pressure, which ensures cleaning of surfaces and structures. This type of tool is used by service technicians, but a homemade high-pressure car wash with your own hands will cope with the task just as well.

What is a pressure washer?

Today, you no longer need energy and time to fight dried-on dirt and dust that has clogged up in nooks and crannies, because every year new models of high-pressure washers . These devices are used for washing windows, cars, walls and doors of houses, barbecues and other objects that are difficult to clean with a rag or brush. Strong water pressure copes with this task much more effectively and saves money spent on washing the car at a service center; water consumption is also minimal. Therefore, having such a sink in your arsenal is useful for everyone.

The leading companies in the production of high-pressure washers are the German companies Bosch, Karcher (hence the second name for the wash - Karcher) and Elitech. The average price of these sinks on the market starts at 10,000 rubles. Inexpensive car washes cannot be used for more than one car per day, and the most expensive models are limited to seven cars.

Recommendations for constructing a pressure washer

The high pressure pump from a car washer is perfect as a compressor for a car wash.

When installing a high-pressure washer, you must take care to create a grounding connection. For this purpose, a three-core flexible wire equipped with double insulation and a plug equipped with a grounding terminal are often used. It is worth considering that the power outlet also needs reliable grounding using a circuit.

It is necessary to periodically inspect all connections and fastenings and tighten them if necessary. The filter element of the tank should be regularly cleaned of accumulated debris.

It is undesirable to use a jet of water with high pressure too often - this will cause excessive load on the pressure pump and cause damage to the car's paintwork. It is recommended to apply pressure that can contactlessly rid the machine of the main layer of dirt on the surface being treated, and then use a brush to manually remove the remaining dirt.

Washing device

The main component of the sink (or Karcher) is the engine, which creates the necessary water pressure. A pump or motor will do (you don’t have to buy a new one, take a working one from an old car), the motor is built into the body of the sink and must be connected to a power source. For the body of the sink (body), choose a durable material, thick plastic or metal. Even if you purchase a wear-resistant case, it is better not to use the sink for more than three hours at a time. This will put the washer out of action soon. Hose attachments are available to facilitate the cleaning process - brushes of varying hardness, soft rollers, standard sprayers. If you purchase a couple of attachments, you can expand the functions of your sink by using it as an automatic mop or steam cleaner (you need to equip the sink with a heater).

Internal pressure

The higher the pressure inside the housing, the stronger the stream of water gushing from the hose, which means the dirt comes off easier. Set the pressure carefully, because water can simply break a fragile car part or glass and leave dents. Manufacturers set the pressure at 150-170 bar, but 100 bar is enough to clean the car. If the contamination cannot be cleaned with a jet of water, purchase a special nozzle for the hose, a turbo cutter. It will help wash tires, wheels, and remove dirt accumulated in the cracks. You can use the mini-wash both outside and inside the car. If you are using a turbo cutter, you will need a pressure of 160 bar.

How to use the mini-wash

To ensure your washer works properly , follow these recommendations.

  • Be sure to check the operation of the washer before you start using it, this will save your time and health.
  • Clean and change the filter installed in the car wash after each use.
  • If the washer uses electricity to operate and the source is unstable, provide it with a battery.
  • Do not let children use the sink.
  • If repairs are necessary, do not hesitate to carry them out. Replace damaged sink components.
  • Update the device gaskets.
  • Protect your sink from temperature changes.

How to make a Karcher yourself

Although car washes have achieved widespread use, they come at a high price. So, if you want to make a sink yourself, you will need :

  • canister;
  • irrigation hose with gun;
  • pump;
  • union;
  • canister lid;
  • tubeless wheel fungus;
  • rubber gasket;
  • coupling.

These are the components of the future car wash. Materials that will be useful in the manufacturing process:

First stage. Selection of components.

The required volume of the canister depends on you and the purposes for which you will use the washer: a five-liter canister is enough for a passenger car. Drivers carry a car wash in their luggage, so choose a body based on both volume and dimensions. The irrigation hose must be strong and flexible and should not be twisted or broken. Hoses with nylon braid are considered durable. A hose consisting of several layers is more reliable. Don't skimp on this component. The only requirement for the gun is that it must hold tightly to the hose.

The pump can be foot-operated or automatic. We won't need the high power of this pump, so don't buy an expensive one. Using an automatic pump is much more convenient than a foot pump, since you do not have to constantly drag the pump from place to place and do unnecessary work with your foot. However, the cost of the pump plays a decisive role; an automatic one is three times more expensive. Choose the fitting and coupling at your discretion, the main thing is that they are in close contact with each other. It is preferable to purchase both the fitting and the coupling from the same material (plastic or metal).

Second phase. Preparing the canister.

Drill a hole in the canister that is the right size for your coupling. Insert a coupling with a screwed-in fitting into this hole. Secure the structure with sealant so that the coupling does not pop out during operation, and the required pressure is maintained in the canister.

Third stage. Cover assembly.

The lid needs to be strong, solid and suitable for the canister. To prevent air from escaping from the canister, attach a rubber gasket to the bottom of the lid. Then make a hole in it and insert the tubeless tire fungus into it.

Fourth stage. Assembly of the structure. Additional functions.

Screw the lid on the canister tightly, connect the cord from the pump to the fungus, attach the free edge of the hose to the hole made in the canister using a fitting. The homemade sink is ready. The principle of operation of such a washer is simple: using a pump, air is pumped into a canister of water (the canister is not filled to the brim with water). Create pressure up to 0.3 bar or higher if your canister can handle it. Under the influence of pressure, water streams out of the gun when you press the handle. If you will use the sink during the cold season, equip your sink with a special burner for heating the water. For these purposes, you will need a larger canister; it will lose mobility, but with the help of hot water the car is cleaned of heavily dried dirt.

Provide a power source for the washer. If the washer runs on fuel (gasoline or diesel fuel), then there will be no problems with moving it. When planning an electric car wash, make sure you have a working and accessible source of electricity. In this case, you are unlikely to be able to freely transport the sink from place to place, but you will not have to spend money on expensive fuel. Decide in advance what you are using the sink for. If you want to clean the windows of a house or the wheels of a car, then a compact, mobile washer on wheels and with a long hose will suit you. When using a sink on a production scale, you will not need its ability to move, so it is better to design a stationary sink. It connects directly to the water supply. If the need arises, set up automatic water supply to save money. While you can save on water consumption, you cannot save on purchasing sink components. To prevent the item from becoming dirty after washing, purchase special filters. You don't need an expensive filter to purify the water to drinkable condition. A filter is needed to purify the water, at least from debris that will disable the sink. You can even make money by designing a pressure washer if you open a car wash. The main thing is that the sink you make works. Using a car wash, you can clean bicycles, mopeds, cars, trucks and their components.

How to make a homemade Karcher for a car

The design of the sink is extremely simple; to create it you will need a plastic container with a tight screw cap with a capacity of 4 - 20 liters (canisters for storing gasoline are very suitable), a spray gun, a set of quick-release hose connectors (3/4 threaded fitting, two connectors for the diameter of the hose , adapter coupling 3/4 - 1/2), car nipple for tubeless tires and a piece of hose 1.5 - 2.5 meters long. The tools you need are a knife with a sharp end, silicone sealant and a car pump or compressor.

The operating principle of a mini washer. A hose with a watering gun is connected to the bottom of the water tank. A car nipple - a fungus - is built into the filler neck. Fill the container with water to 3/4 - 4/5 of the volume, screw on the lid and pump the container with air. The system creates excess pressure under the influence of which water will flow out when the trigger of the gun is pressed.

The assembly diagram for a mini sink should not cause any difficulties if executed carefully.

1. Using the sharp end of a knife, slowly and carefully form a hole in the lid of the container, slightly smaller than the fitting diameter of the nipple.

2. Insert the nipple from the inside. Tests have shown that the nipple becomes tight and does not require additional sealing.

3. At the bottom of a flat canister without protrusions or seams, slowly and carefully make a hole for the coupling.

4. Using a wire from inside the canister, insert the coupling into the hole.

5. Apply silicone sealant to the joint and screw the fitting to the coupling. We are waiting for the sealant to harden.

6. Screw on the lid. We are waiting for the sealant to harden. We connect the pump. We plug the fitting with our finger and increase the pressure in the container; if everything is done carefully, the container will hold pressure.

7. We equip the hose with connectors. We connect one end of the hose to the canister, and the other to the watering gun.

8. Fill the canister 3/4 - 4/5 with water and pump air inside. We do not pump the canister too much; it expands under pressure (becomes more round). Don't get carried away with increasing pressure. When using large-volume canisters, it will be necessary to provide clamps to prevent excessive inflation of the container.

9. We press the trigger of the gun and water under pressure begins to flow out; if necessary, select the type of water jet; the gun in the photo has four operating modes.

To the “advantages” of this simple do-it-yourself car wash you can add mobility, lack of connection to 220 Volts and problems with water supply.

How to make a Karcher powered by a cigarette lighter

This sink design does not require any costs. Below are instructions for creating a more complex model: We will need:

  • windshield washer motor;
  • irrigation hose with gun;
  • cigarette lighter (motor power supply), cigarette lighter plug;
  • two hoses 3 meters long, one hose must fit freely into the other;
  • corrugated hose with a diameter of 25-30 millimeters;
  • switch;
  • M8 bolt, washer and nut;
  • two plastic canisters (volume 10 liters);
  • 6 self-tapping screws;
  • two-core electrical wire 5-7 meters long;
  • plastic sleeve;
  • power cable;
  • brush for washing a car.

Additional materials:

First stage. Creating a hose.

We make a small hole in the bottom of one of the canisters. A thinner hose (up to 6 millimeters) and a two-core wire are placed inside a thick hose (diameter 10 millimeters or more). Then the hoses we have fastened are inserted into the opening of the canister. A plastic sleeve is inserted into the free end of the hose. Next, a thin hose is attached to the washer motor, and the wires are also connected to the motor.

Second phase. Creating a canister with a double bottom.

The second canister is cut approximately in the middle in order to subsequently make a second bottom with a shuttle out of it. The motor is fixed to the second bottom of the canister; for these purposes, a homemade clamp is used, which can be made from the remains of a cut canister. For this we need an M8 bolt and a little sealant. The wires are also secured using self-tapping screws and sealant. Then they connect, again using self-tapping screws, the body of the structure: the second bottom and the hinged lid.

Third stage. Completion.

Using the power cord, the wires are connected to the cigarette lighter. A hole is made in the brush for the button, the switch is secured. The brush itself is mounted on the edge of the hose with a plastic sleeve. Use the attached diagrams in your work to better understand the text.

Installation of a home automated mini-wash

Hydraulic diagram of a car wash.

You also don’t need any special knowledge to create such a necessary thing as an automated mini-wash. Only the necessary tools, the availability of the necessary parts and the desire to make the process of washing your car with your own hands more enjoyable.

  1. First, you need to prepare the canisters; one of them will have to be cut in order to create a “second bottom” where the shuttle for winding the wire and power and the rotating lid will be located.
  2. For cutting, you can use a knife or scissors, depending on the thickness of the canister walls.
  3. Regular drinking water cans are ideal for this.
  4. In the bottom of the whole canister you need to make a hole corresponding to the diameter of the large hose, that is, 10 mm, exactly under the inlet of the canister. On the opposite side you need to make a hole corresponding to the washer.
  5. The washer is attached using a brass M8 bolt, respectively, with a nut and washer, to the outer surface of the bottom of the whole canister approximately in the middle. The motor is secured with a clamp, which can be easily made from a strip of plastic.
  6. To install the hoses, plastic bushings are used. These can even be cases from ordinary felt-tip pens. After fastening, you need to connect the receiving tube from the motor to the bottom of the canister into the hole made in advance, from where water will flow to the motor.
  7. The wires and thinner hose are inserted into the larger diameter hose. You need to insert it into the inlet of the canister and through the hole made in its bottom. For reliability, the hose is secured in the hole with a sleeve.
  8. You need to install a switch or button on the brush; make a choice from these parts yourself. Choose what you find more convenient, because you will perform the entire manufacturing process with your own hands. A button or switch is glued inside the handle.

To decorate it, use a piece of corrugated hose; a diameter of 25 mm is suitable for this. It must be put on the brush handle in advance, that is, before assembly is carried out. Naturally, wires are connected to the switch.

The lower ends of the wire must be connected to the washer motor and to the power cord, which, in turn, must be connected to the motor. When choosing a power cord, do not forget that it must be 12-volt. The cigarette lighter plug is connected to the cord.

After the wires have been soldered, the lower part (cut) of the canister, that is, its “second bottom,” is attached to the main canister with self-tapping screws. Do not forget about the tightness of the connections; you must use a sealant, even if it seems to you that everything is fine. The rotary cover must be attached in the same way. If all the nuances and smallest details are observed, assembly will not take you much time.

In the modern world, every family has a car, and not just one. Whether domestic or foreign, they all require constant care. If a spare part goes bad, you need to replace it, if a tire has a flat, you need to pump it up, if a window breaks, you need to put in a new one. And, of course, you definitely need to wash your car. Car washing is needed not only to keep the car clean. If you don't wash it, you can earn a fine from employees of the state road safety inspection. If you don’t wash it, the paint underneath the dirt stain will soon wear off and the body will begin to rust. If you do not wash the interior of your car, this can lead to various respiratory diseases and allergies.

Considering all the above nuances, the conclusion suggests itself: car washing is a mandatory procedure for any car.

How to make a “Kärcher” for washing with your own hands

In order for the car owner to be able to wash his car at a convenient time at home, he will need to use a high-pressure washer.
This equipment is manufactured under the Karcher brand, it has high performance, and as a result, the washing result is practically no different from if the car was sent for service. The high cost of such washing equipment will pay off over time. However, if you know how to make a Karcher with your own hands for washing, then you will save a lot of money and remain in the black.

Technical issues of arranging a car wash with your own hands

For a full-fledged and comfortable operation of a car wash, you will need a garage space at least 5 m wide and 7 m long. In addition to passenger cars, you may need to wash beads and Gazelles with your own hands. To be able to do the interior cleaning work yourself, there must be at least a meter of free space between the open car doors and the garage wall.

Setting up a garage with your own hands for a car wash

If the garage was not built specifically for the needs of a car service, installing and operating a car wash will require a slight modification of its internal structure:

  1. Firstly, you will need to raise the height and width of the entrance to the garage so that the dimensions of the doorway allow the car to be driven in and out normally. Instead of swing gates, it is better to install lifting gates with thermal insulation made of foam plastic, but in no case made of water-absorbing materials;
  2. Secondly, it is necessary to cut a mesh of drainage channels on the concrete floor surface, and lay storm gutters along one of the walls, collecting water into a tank located in the basement of the garage. We cover the channels with PVC panels or roll covering for garages and car washes. PVC “CANAL” or roll covering from LLC “InterEco” is suitable;
  3. Thirdly, under the back wall of the garage we install two plastic tanks with 500 liters of water each. The first will be used as a rainwater collector, from the second water will be supplied to operate the high-pressure car wash.

Advice! If possible, use only clean rainwater in the car wash; this is the best option for washing cars.

The absence of salts does not irritate the skin and allows you to wash even black or very dark versions of car cladding with your own hands without stains or streaks. Knowledgeable people will confirm that cars washed with rainwater do not rust and shine in the sun without any chemicals. Among other things, the service life of the high-pressure washer is significantly increased.

Features of the car wash device, what and how to do it yourself

Working conditions at a car wash are difficult; a large amount of water mist generated during operation of the high-pressure apparatus requires good ventilation and heating of the garage in winter. Therefore, you will need to cover the doorway and rear wall of the garage with your own hands using sliding curtains made of thick transparent plastic film.

A ventilation duct is laid along the ceiling, through which fresh air is pumped with a fan, always warm in winter. There should be no electric convectors or ovens in the high-pressure car wash operating area, only two powerful lamps covered with a sealed cap!

After washing, it is imperative to wipe the surface of the car's lining dry and blow out the locks, door hinges and door seals with compressed air. To do this, you need to have a garage compressor on hand for inflating tires with a 12-liter receiver. In addition, a garage with a car wash needs a powerful compact vacuum cleaner with a dozen homemade tips to pull dust out of the smallest crevices.

At the end of the work, the covering on the garage floor will need to be removed, and the channels should be washed with the same car wash; sometimes, in the fall and spring, this has to be done twice a day. With rolled materials inside the garage, this is faster than fiddling with PVC tiles. We pump water from the catchment tank through a fabric filter only the next day, after all the sand has settled overnight. The tank must be cleaned of dirt every two to three days.

For a small car wash in a garage, on average, washing one car will require 15-20 liters of clean water and 20-25 grams of polishing wax. It is better to use protective Italian wax paste or Polish “Vaksa”. They provide a good quality protective coating for at least a couple of weeks, and are absolutely safe; you can do the work with your own hands all day long, which cannot be said about domestic or Chinese chemicals.

In addition to the car wash apparatus, to work in the garage you will need to install: a water heater, a washstand, a first aid kit, a dryer for cleaning materials, a box for chemicals and a cabinet for drying a change of work clothes. Without these conditions, it will be difficult to officially sign a permit to operate a car wash.

Requirements for a homemade Karcher

A properly assembled homemade Karcher is practically no different in its technical characteristics from the branded one. The main thing is to take into account the requirements for the unit:

  • the product must have high performance, which refers to the volume of water required to be pumped by a pump for a certain time. This determines the force of pressure;
  • it is necessary to take into account the pressure exerted on the surface by the force of the water flow. Cleaning the bottom of a car will require a lot of pressure;
  • It is imperative to install an additional cleaning filter on the structure, which will prevent the ingress of microparticles, chemical elements and iron elements. It will also protect the device from mechanical influences.

Unit design

It won’t be difficult for a craftsman to make a “Kärcher” with his own hands. To create a mini high pressure washer you will need:

  • pump - you can use an external electric fuel pump from an old car or a compressor if you are not ready to spend money on a new pump. However, if you are planning to make a high-quality mini-wash, then it is better to spend money and purchase a high-performance plunger model capable of providing a pressure of 200 bar. The material for the piston can be metal or high-strength ceramics; the block heads can be made from brass;
  • electric motor for Karcher high pressure washer. It must be single-phase 220 W;
  • soft coupling, through which the pump and motor can be fixed;
  • special reinforced hose 5 meters long;
  • switch;
  • nozzles;
  • clamps;
  • plug;
  • gun for adjusting the pressure using a nozzle;
  • two-wire wires for connecting to the power system and pump;
  • a 20-liter canister, a filter mesh will be attached to it, and it will be filled with water;
  • car shampoo, it will be poured into a canister, and then with its help dirt will be washed off the car;
  • frame based on hollow curved pipes. Its purpose is to hold together the elements of the entire system;
  • sealant for joints;
  • a set of quick-release hose connectors (this includes a threaded fitting, a connector for the hose diameter and an adapter coupling).

Do-it-yourself high-pressure car wash - basic elements

The first thing you need to do is purchase all the parts that you will need to assemble the device. The most important and expensive part of a car wash is the pump. It must be highly productive. In addition, such a pump must develop a pressure of up to 100-200 bar. When choosing this part of the system, it is very important to pay attention to what materials it is made of. The most optimal version of the working part of the pump should look like this: the pistons are made of durable metals or durable ceramics, the block heads are cast from brass, and the liners of the crank mechanism need to be provided with a large support area.

Sometimes, to save money, a car wash is assembled from a compressor; such a system is, of course, faster to make with your own hands, and the compressor in this situation performs the functions of a water pump.

Another important part is the electric motor. For a home car wash, it is best to use a 220-watt electric motor, that is, single-phase. This type of connection is safe and significantly saves money. Some car wash designs require the presence of condensers and a single-stage gearbox. These items may make the device easier to use and also increase its service life, but they are not required.

Algorithm for making a mini-wash

When assembling the structure, it is very important to follow the sequence of connecting parts. The following are installed in strict sequence:

  • capacity;
  • filter;
  • the hose is attached;
  • the pump is installed;
  • engine;
  • regulator;
  • everything is held together with a hose;
  • a gun and nozzles are used.

The principle of operation of this device , made independently, is as follows: the pump is turned on, then water flows into the hose from the canister, then the trigger of the gun is pulled, water is supplied by pressure in a thin stream. You can also use a car nipple designed for tubeless tires, as well as a pointed knife.

The operating algorithm is as follows:

  • We make a hole in the lid of the container with a sharp-pointed knife, and the hole should be smaller than the fitting nipple diameter;
  • a nipple is inserted from the inside;
  • At the bottom of the canister we make a hole for the coupling-connector. It should not have seams or protrusions;
  • Using a wire, we insert the coupling through the hole into the canister;
  • Apply silicone sealant to the joint;
  • attach a fitting to the coupling;
  • wait for the sealant to dry;
  • screw the lid on;
  • connect the pump;
  • Be sure to plug the fitting with your finger and increase the pressure in the container;
  • we use a connector to equip the hose;
  • connect one end of the hose to the canister, and the other to the watering gun;
  • We fill the canister almost to the top with water and pump air inside. Remember that you cannot pump the canister too much with air so that it does not expand under force and pressure. If the canister is too voluminous, then prepare clamps in advance to contain excess pressure, as well as inflation of the tank;
  • press the trigger on the gun to release the water under pressure. You need to select a specific type of jet on the gun.

Making a sink at home

Pump and electrical part

The main part of any water supply unit is the pump. For our product we will need it to be powerful enough, capable of developing a pressure of at least 150 atmospheres. When selecting a finished pump, it is necessary to take into account the materials from which the working units are made.

Preference should be given to products with a high-strength metal or ceramic piston.

In this case, it is recommended to select the block head from brass or bronze alloys. This design is more durable. Its service life between repairs is quite long. A speed of 15 l/min will be sufficient for the pump.

It is advisable to select an electric motor with a voltage of 220 V. Reliable starting is ensured by an additional capacitor unit. Higher rpm will provide greater productivity.

You need to know that a too high-speed pump with a high number of revolutions can lose power at maximum operating speeds and is subject to intense wear.

Consumers of 2-3 kW and rotation up to 2000 rpm are considered optimal.

Rotation transmission

A do-it-yourself high-pressure washer must have the necessary safety elements in the circuit to preserve important components. This link is the coupling connecting the pump and the motor.

It is advisable to install a coupling that can compensate for small axial misalignments between the shafts.

It is also possible to install a single-stage belt drive. Such a gearbox balances the speed and load between the engine and the pump. The gear ratio is selected based on the required output parameters for the rotation frequency.

Reservoir and performance regulator

The mini sink must be equipped with sufficient water capacity. A tank that can be additionally powered from a permanent water source is suitable: a water tap, a deep-water well, or a small water tower.

What to make a sink from

It is advisable to install coarse and medium filters at the entrance to the container. Thus, unnecessary debris will not get into the pump and will not interfere with the operation of the entire system.

You can add car shampoo or other approved car cosmetics to the main water container. The process will be more efficient.

Safety precautions when using the sink

When using a homemade sink, you must follow safety rules, which will also extend its service life.
It is imperative to take into account the operating cycle limit of the device. So, if you purchase a ready-made device, then the instructions contain information about how long it can work. The cycle can last 20, 30 minutes or an hour, it all depends on the performance of the device. And if you do not comply with the specified time interval in the work plan, the device will overheat and break down.

It is best to use a homemade device for no longer than twenty minutes. You can also calculate the time of use yourself; it all depends on the amount of material used to assemble the tank and its quality. The more plastic is present in the design, the shorter the operating cycle will be.

It is not recommended to pour process or river water into the tank, since they contain a large number of elements undesirable for the device, which negatively affect the quality of its operation.
prevent small particles or chemical elements from entering the tank , and to protect it from mechanical damage, it is recommended to install an additional filter for water purification.
It is also extremely important that all electrical equipment is grounded using a three-wire insulated flexible cord and a plug with a grounding terminal. The entire structure and filter must be cleaned periodically.

How much money do you need to open a car wash?

The question of how much it costs to build your own car wash from scratch today can only be answered if you know its size and the number of future posts. More precisely, experts can calculate how much the finished building costs. Thus, a service for one car costs about 700 thousand rubles, and a 6-post car wash, with a rest room and technical premises, will cost the entrepreneur 4 million 500 thousand rubles.

The obvious advantages of a prefabricated sink can be highlighted as follows:

  • Mobility of the structure. The car wash can be moved to another location over time if a more attractive plot of land becomes available from a business point of view.
  • Minimum production and installation time. A car wash can be built from scratch in a matter of months, and even days, with a standard project.
  • Low cost. The price for prefabricated modules is three times lower than for the construction of permanent buildings. Thanks to this, the business can be attractive to budding entrepreneurs.
  • Possibility to choose sizes. Standard projects and individual developments are always as close as possible to customer requirements.
