Where and what to use to install a speed bump.

Advantages of our production IDN

Wear-resistant and durable rubber For the manufacture of our speed bumps, we use high-quality rubber that is resistant to increased loads, climatic influences, and road reagents.
The increased operational service life of the products is achieved by reinforcing the body of the products with metal cord. Retroreflective elements Retroreflective windows on the surface of the product make our IDNs clearly visible in low light conditions. They have optimal reliability and durability. The light reflection area of our IDNs exceeds GOST requirements by 2 times.

Reliable adhesive The special adhesive used in the production of our speed bumps firmly adheres the reflective film to the surface of road irregularities.

Robust design The parts of the artificial road surface are fastened together with a tongue-and-groove type lock. This connection of the product elements is strong and reliable, it gives the product the necessary solidity.

High reliability of fastenings Special metal discs reinforcing the fastening holes in the products ensure reliable fastening of speed bumps to the road surface. Such metal disks are welded into the IDN body during the vulcanization process of the product. This prevents speed bumps from being pulled out of the road surface during their operation.

Honeycomb structure The lower part of the product has a hexagon-shaped protector. When a car hits, the pressure inside is distributed evenly and prevents the product from deforming. Proper drainage is ensured. The weight of IDN-500 from PC “Technology” is 14 kg, and IDN-900 is 24 kg.

Where is ID installation needed?

How to refuel your car correctly

There are places accepted by GOST where speed bumps are placed first:

  • In front of educational institutions such as schools, universities, colleges. In close proximity to kindergartens and playgrounds. In areas where there are crowds of people, large shopping centers and supermarkets. Near stadiums, train stations, busy squares and parks;
  • On difficult and emergency sections of roads and highways, where the maximum speed cannot exceed 40 km/h or less. It is not uncommon for such sections of the route to have a rich history of accidents, which is why they are highlighted with signs and identification numbers;
  • In front of the courtyard area, which is marked with a “Residential Area” sign. Speed bumps can be installed inside the yard with the help of the management company, the wishes of the tenants and permission from the traffic police. This question is very relevant in “travel” yards, where heavy traffic poses a danger;
  • When approaching complex, uncontrolled intersections where serious accidents occur. Perhaps in this situation, after the ID there will be a sign “Driving without stopping is prohibited”;
  • Before busy pedestrian crossings;
  • There are concentrations of children's clubs, sections and camps on the territory.

What problems did the installation of speed bumps bring?

With the increase in the number of such structures, the number of customers in auto repair shops began to grow. The craftsmen had more work to do: stripped bottoms, damaged suspensions, failed steering systems... And all because the authorities often installed artificial humps unexpectedly for drivers, without even bothering to put up the appropriate road sign. There was also no mention of marking lines, and combined with a poorly lit section of the road, all this logically led to the above-mentioned problems.

All this continued until the entry into force of the state standard in 2008, which clearly specified the means of organizing artificial unevenness and the requirements for their installation.

Artificial road roughness - types:

  1. IDN 300
  2. IDN 500
  3. IDN 900
  4. IDN 1100

The speed bump has a collapsible design. Such a collapsible product consists of several parts: two end elements and one (several) middle working elements. The number of middle parts varies depending on the width of the road where the speed bump is installed. An artificial hump is located on the roadway perpendicular to the line of movement of vehicles so that cars do not have the opportunity to go around it. The permissible distance from the edge of the road to the beginning of the IDN on each side is established by GOST and is ⩽0.2 m.

In front of such an obstacle, according to the rules, a “Maximum speed limit” sign is installed. In this case, the maximum permissible speed of vehicles on a given section of the roadway is indicated.

  • The long service life of IDN from PC "Technology" is ensured by the use of high-quality materials for their manufacture. Our speed bumps
    are made from durable, wear-resistant rubber that is resistant to increased loads, climatic influences, and road agents. This material is resistant to external factors and deformation.
  • The artificial road roughness parts are equipped with a tongue-and-groove type lock. These side projections firmly hold the parts of the structure together, providing them with a reliable and strong connection to each other.
  • The technological holes of the products, intended for their fastening to the road, are reinforced with special metal disks with galvanic coating. This design ensures a reliable connection of the IDN with the road surface and protects the product from being pulled out of the asphalt.
  • Reinforcement of the IDN body with metal cord provides its increased strength. This eliminates the possibility of deformation of road unevenness and extends its service life.
  • Reflective elements located on the surface of the product make them clearly visible even in poor visibility conditions. These elements are made of high-quality reflective film and fixed to the ID with special glue.
  • The reflective film is located in special recesses, thereby eliminating the possibility of its displacement.
  • The affordable price of rubber speed bumps makes them accessible to consumers.

Types of speed bumps and their installation

Almost everyone probably knows what a speed bump is. This is a special artificial roughness mounted across the road surface. Artificial humps are designed to reduce the speed of traffic flow in places where pedestrians frequently appear on the roadway.

Speed bumps are certainly installed near children's educational institutions. Of course, there are special road signs that are designed to limit the speed of traffic. However, many drivers simply ignore such signs, which is why they have to install artificial bumps on the road surface. In 99% of cases, a speed bump will force the driver to slow down where it is really necessary.

Not so long ago, speed bumps were manufactured directly at the installation site. A small layer of asphalt was simply rolled across the road surface, which was a speed bump. Laying such unevenness is quite a difficult job, so different teams of workers had completely unpredictable results. Some bumps were too high, others too low, and so on. This method was used for quite a long time, as it was the cheapest. Among the disadvantages, it can also be noted that the process of dismantling such a speed bump is quite labor-intensive, and there is no way to do this without damaging the road surface.

Recently, artificial bumps made of plastic or rubber have become increasingly popular and in demand. If you need to buy a speed bump, then do not rush to buy the cheapest one. Many organizations purchase the cheapest speed bumps in order to save money. However, as practice has shown, such savings only lead to additional costs, since cheap artificial bumps often cannot boast of high quality and durability. Inexpensive speed bumps are most often supplied from China, so, as a rule, there is no need to talk about quality.

When purchasing, it is also worth noting that artificial road humps are subject to certain GOST rules. The speed bump must have strictly defined dimensions. Artificial bumps of any size cannot be installed on the road surface. Also, do not forget that the location where the speed bump is installed is certainly indicated by at least two road signs. In some cases, additional speed limit signs are installed before approaching speed bumps. If you are planning to install artificial speed bumps, then it is better to choose a company that also installs road signs. How to choose a speed bump

As already mentioned, some organizations do not care much about the quality of speed bumps. However, there are a few things to consider before purchasing. First of all, you should think about how comfortable it will be for the car to drive over uneven surfaces. Drivers' practice shows that the best option is a speed bump made of rubber, 50 or 90 cm wide. Such irregularities certainly force the driver to slow down, but driving over them does not cause any harm to the suspension or discomfort to the vehicle's passengers. But if you just exceed the speed, then even a rubber artificial bump will make itself felt with a noticeable blow to the suspension. It is also worth noting that most rubber speed bumps are equipped with special reflective coatings that allow you to see the structure in time at night.

Cheaper speed bumps are made of plastic. If such a police officer was not made in China, then it deserves attention. Of course, the car drives through such unevenness more harshly, but with limited financial resources this is a completely acceptable option. It is also worth noting that today almost all speed bumps are manufactured in the form of separate sections. Such sections easily fit together and allow you to install an artificial roughness of any length. Installation of speed bumps

In the vast majority of cases, installation of artificial roughness is carried out on an asphalt surface. Before purchasing, it is worth considering that the installation of a speed bump can only be carried out on a flat section of the road surface. If the road at the installation site is damaged, then in this case it will simply not be possible to secure the artificial unevenness firmly enough. For installation, it is best to use the services of a team of qualified workers. Remember that speed bumps are subjected to quite strong mechanical loads, so miscalculations during installation are not acceptable.

Metal or plastic anchors are used to attach speed bumps to the road surface. The use of plastic anchors is only permissible if the road surface is in perfect condition. Practice shows that in most cases metal anchors with a diameter of 10 mm and a length of at least 120 mm are used. Before purchasing, you should also consider the required length of the unevenness. A speed bump must certainly block the entire roadway, not allowing a full or partial detour. If cars go around a speed bump with one wheel, then its individual sections will be subject to increased loads, which will soon lead to their breakdown or separation from the road surface.

If you want to order the whole range of services at once: selection of the length of speed bumps, installation, production and installation of road signs, then in this case, contact. Our company offers the most optimal prices for such work. We have been engaged in this activity for quite a long time, so we carry out all work very quickly and efficiently. We offer only high-quality and durable artificial bumps that comply with all GOST rules.

What is stated in GOST?

  • The “speed bump” can be either a prefabricated structure or a monolithic one, that is, it can be a raised platform made of the same material as the road surface itself.
  • Its maximum height should be 7 cm.
  • An artificial hump must be accompanied by a speed bump sign installed on both sides of the road.
  • Plus, it must be accompanied by markings that the driver could see from afar.
  • In those places where an artificial road roughness (abbreviated as IDN) is installed, drainage systems must be organized to prevent the formation of puddles and accidents during sudden braking.
  • On one section of the road the maximum number of speed bumps is 5.
  • It is prohibited to place them on federal highways, expressways, bridges, in tunnels and near bus/trolleybus stops. This list also includes entrances to emergency services buildings, such as ambulance stations, hospitals and fire stations.

Of course, no one often adheres to so many rigid positions. After all, a certified “police officer” installed in accordance with all the rules will cost about 30 thousand rubles. Not every administration is ready to allocate them from the local budget.
