Daewoo Gentra is a compact four-door sedan made in Uzbekistan, produced since 2013. This model was considered the most affordable foreign car in Russia among its competitors. Gentra is a copy of the Korean Chevrolet Lacetti sedan from 2002, but has a more interesting design in the front part of the body, like the Lacetti hatchback. In Russian car dealerships, the Gentra was offered with a single 1.5-liter engine (107 hp) and a manual transmission, the alternative to which was a six-speed automatic transmission. In the basic configuration, the car had two airbags, air conditioning, electric mirrors and windows, and additional options included an audio system, heated front row seats and a sunroof. In 2016, the car was renamed Ravon Gentra. Sales in Russia continued until 2020, then deliveries were stopped indefinitely.

The model is developed in three trim levels, each of which is available with both automatic and manual transmission. First of all, the basic equipment includes adjustable mirrors, electric windows, heated rear window, adjustable steering wheel, and air conditioning. If we consider the driving performance, then a huge advantage of this car is the multi-link rear suspension, which allows you to smoothly pass potholes on our roads. The front has an independent suspension. The ground clearance is 15 cm, which is less than that of similar models, but within normal limits. The wheels are equipped with disc brakes. The engine power is 107 horsepower, which is quite normal for such a car, as it has good traction at medium and low speeds. The Ravon Gentra sedan is equipped with a time-tested 1.5-liter gasoline engine that meets EURO 5 eco-standards. It can be paired with both automatic and manual transmissions. Ravon Gentra with such an engine can accelerate to 100 km/h in 11.9 seconds. And the maximum speed of the car is 180 km/h. When driving on the highway, there is clearly a lack of sixth-stage gears, since at a speed of 120 km/h the revolutions approach 3000.

The tank volume is 60 liters, fuel consumption in the city is 8.8 liters, on the highway - 7 liters. But since there is no on-board computer, there is no way to check this information. Overall the car is good, the price corresponds to the quality.

Gentra began to be sold under the Ravon brand

The car body is also almost entirely borrowed from the four-door Lacetti, with the exception of the head optics, which were taken from the hatchback. But the model’s radiator grille and front bumper with large integrated foglights are completely original.

The Gentra's interior continues to be an exact copy of that of the Lacetti - no surprises here. The company emphasizes that for the new product the suspension was only slightly retuned and the ground clearance was slightly increased. Exactly how much is not specified (in the source it is 145 mm). The overall length of the sedan is 4,515 mm, the wheelbase is 2,600, the width is 1,725, the height is 1,445, and the trunk volume is 405 liters.

Under the hood of the Daewoo Gentra (specifications) there is a 1.5-liter 16-valve engine producing 107 hp. (141 Nm at 3,800 rpm), equipped with a timing chain drive. This power unit is produced at GM Powertrain Uzbekistan and installed on the Uzbek-assembled Chevrolet Cobalt.

True, instead of a six-speed automatic, the engine was initially adapted from the previous four-speed, but later they were able to return the six-speed, and in the base the car is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. At the same time, it is stated that the new Gentra with an automatic transmission is not inferior to a car with a manual transmission in the sprint, but its top speed is lower - 163 km/h.

Modern engines and their reliability

Let's look at the engines of Gentra's potential competitors - French, German and Russian.

1. Renault Logan car engines (K7J, K4M) are widely known to the Russian public. These engines have been tested in practice in the varied Russian climate for many years.
