Initialization of the throttle valve on a 2-liter 143 hp. engine

For vehicle identification and reliable selection throttle body Audi A4 B5 8D5,B5 Estate, you should carefully select the modification of the vehicle. To do this, use clarifying information with data containing: power, measured in horsepower (example 103 hp), engine size (example 1.6 liters), type (example gasoline) and model + engine code, as a rule, this parameter rarely used, but you can only find it in the vehicle title, you can also pay attention to the drive axle (there are rear, front or all-wheel drive), and a mandatory parameter is the release date, which divides the vehicle model into restyling, pre-restyling, first and last year production.

This data serves to uniquely install spare parts during a certain production period, as manufacturers are constantly upgrading cars off the assembly line.

Signs of trouble

There are many reasons that lead to abnormal engine operation. Most of the symptoms are characteristic of a number of malfunctions, which is why professional diagnostics are so important. You can suspect a throttle valve failure based on the following signs:

  • operation of the internal combustion engine intermittently at idle;
  • startup problems;
  • “floating” speed;
  • slow response to the position of the gas pedal;
  • spontaneous drop in speed.

Any interruptions in the operation of the power unit are a reason to immediately seek help from qualified auto mechanics. With the help of modern equipment, the cause of the failure will be identified, and the Peugeot throttle valve, if it is to blame for the malfunction, will be restored.

Zhor oil

High oil consumption - more than 1 liter per 10,000 km - on the 1G-FE engine is associated primarily with the occurrence or wear of the piston rings and loss of elasticity of the valve stem seals. In most cases, a “mini-capital” is the only way to rid this engine of oil waste.

We continue to prepare for winter + we need to check everything and clean it after purchase. It was decided to work on the throttle valve. Or BDZ (Throttle valve block)

.
We will need:
1) A ratchet with heads 12, 10. You can tinker with the keys, but I really don’t recommend even trying. 2) WD-40 is not much. 3) Carbcleaner. I recommend a large yellow bottle with the inscription Professional size. (

200 rubles) 4) Gasket between the manifold and the BDZ (96 RUR) 5) Gasket between the BDZ and the plastic pipe, rubber (69 RUR) 6) N number of clean rags or paper towels. I used a roll of Zewa toilet paper with fragrance =) 7) Two bolts (

8mm) for plugging pipes with antifreeze. 8) Pliers to compress the clamps on the hoses, if you have original ones and without bolts. PS 9) I advise you to lubricate all unscrewed bolts with graphite grease. And not only in the BDZ, but everywhere.

To make my speech clearer, I will show some moments in the photo.

Process and approximate sequence:
First of all, I advise you to spray all the bolts with WD 40. And!
let the engine cool down! if you have traveled before, as you can get badly burned more than once. -Disconnect the pipe, having first disconnected the air filter pipe from it (4 x 10 bolts). I also advise you to flush it, especially the passages for crankcase gases. -Disconnect all the chips, hoses, cables from the BDZ. To keep them out of the way, you can grab them with zip ties, especially for the throttle and kick-down cables. -I left two hoses with antifreeze for later, since they are located at the bottom and are secured with clamps. -Unscrew (2 bolts and 2 nuts for 12) the BDZ itself from the manifold. We move the clamps on the hoses with antifreeze away. I can’t say for sure here, but it was easier for me to pull the BDZ itself out of the hoses than to pull them off it on the spot. -Plug the antifreeze hoses with two prepared bolts. About 10 grams will spill out, no big deal. -The BDZ is in our hands, we can clean anything. Don't skimp on the carbcleaner;) You can clean the IAC and TPS by removing them from the BDZ and unscrewing two bolts each. !BUT! only if you know what it is and how to do it. You can find out why below in the comment from sanchox.

After removal, you can determine for yourself which reverse assembly sequence is best for you. Good luck and I hope this report helps someone. If anything is unclear, ask questions.

Pre-check

  1. Clean dirty throttle body parts using a soft brush and carburetor cleaner. Using compressed air, blow out all channels and openings. Note: Do not clean the throttle position sensor to avoid damaging it.
  2. Make sure there is no play between the throttle stop adjusting screw and the throttle lever when the throttle valve is fully closed.

    If necessary, adjust the gap:

  3. Loosen the lock nut and remove the adjusting screw.
  4. Set the throttle valve to the fully closed position.
  5. Turn the adjusting screw until it touches the lever, then tighten it another 1/4 turn.
  6. Tighten the lock nut.
  7. Check and adjust the throttle position sensor.

Removing the throttle body

  1. Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery.
  2. Drain the coolant.
  3. Disconnect the intake air temperature sensor from the air filter cover.
  4. Remove the air duct.
  5. Disconnect the accelerator cable.
  6. Disconnect the throttle valve control cable (automatic transmission).
  7. Remove the throttle body by disconnecting the connectors and hoses.

Disassembling the throttle body

  1. Remove the idle speed control valve by unscrewing the 2 mounting screws.
  2. Remove the throttle position sensor by unscrewing the 2 mounting screws.

Reassembling the throttle body is carried out in the reverse order of disassembling it.

Checking the throttle position sensor

  1. Check the throttle position sensor.
  2. Insert a 0.5 or 1.0 mm thick flat feeler gauge between the throttle stop adjustment screw and the lever.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals » >

  4. Check the resistance between the sensor terminals. Terminals “VTA” - “E2”: Throttle valve fully closed – 0.2-5.7 kOhm Throttle valve fully open – 2.0-10.2 kOhm Terminals “VC” - “E2” – 2.5-2, 9 kOhm

Checking the throttle position sensor

  1. Insert a 0.5 or 1.0 mm thick flat feeler gauge between the throttle stop adjustment screw and the lever.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the “IDL”-“E2” terminals of the sensor connector at different throttle positions.
  3. Check the resistance between the sensor terminals. Terminals “VTA” - “E2”: Throttle valve fully closed – 0.2-5.7 kOhm Throttle valve fully open – 2.0-10.2 kOhm Terminals “VC” - “E2” – 2.5-2, 9 kOhm

Installing and adjusting the throttle position sensor

  1. Set the throttle valve to the fully closed position.
  2. Place the sensor in the position shown in the figure (45° counterclockwise from the original position), insert it into the throttle body, then rotate it clockwise and temporarily tighten the mounting screws.
