What to do if the car alarm does not respond to the key fob

Reasons for failure and solution to the problem

The reasons why the Alligator, Jaguar, Panther or other alarm with or without feedback stopped responding may not be related to a malfunction of the pager. But usually the problem is caused by the operation of the communicator.

Dead batteries in the key fob

If the car alarm for Tomahawk, Mongoose, APS or Starline A91 does not respond and has stopped responding to any signals, you must first diagnose the batteries in the key. The problem may be related to their discharge or displacement at the installation site. A decrease in charge is usually accompanied by a decrease in the range of the communicator, as well as dimming of the LED indicator and display.

Troubleshooting involves replacing the power supply; this requires disassembling the communicator body and gently tapping it on a hard surface. The battery must fall out of its seat, after which a new battery is installed in it. If the problem was with the battery, then after replacing it the device will work when you press the buttons.

GO FASTRELIABLE talked about replacing the power supply in Starline E90 communicators.

The car is in a radio interference zone

If the Scher Khan Magicar, Alligator, Cenmax or other model system on your car stops starting, this may be due to the car getting into an interference zone. Such zones are usually located close to closed buildings, airports, and sensitive enterprises and are more typical for large cities. The source of interference can be an electromagnetic field, a place with a large concentration of cars, or cash-in-transit vehicles.

You can diagnose the cause yourself by holding the communicator close to the antenna adapter and clicking on the pager control buttons. If this does not help, then the car must be driven 200-300 meters away from the potential location of interference and the steps must be repeated.

Lack of voltage to activate the alarm

Problems in the operation of car alarms Pharaoh, Sherkhan or any other can occur as a result of the car’s battery being discharged. If the voltage level to the on-board network has dropped to critical, this parameter will not be enough to execute commands. The problem with voltage drop may be due to low temperatures, which is typical for the cold season. To correct the situation, you will need to recharge the battery and perform diagnostics.

Wear and tear of the alarm system

As a result of prolonged use, the operating range of a car alarm transceiver, for example, Pandora or Sheriff, will decrease. This may be due to a breakdown of the antenna module or its incorrect operation; the device is usually mounted on the windshield of the car.

A decrease in the range of action may be due to errors that were made when installing the anti-theft system. If the transceiver is located near metal components and surfaces at a close distance of less than 5 centimeters, it will cause deterioration in performance. In this case, it is advisable to reinstall the device.

Eduard Nikolaev spoke about the implementation of a practical method for increasing the range of the pager antenna.

The key fob does not sync with the car

If you managed to bind the remote control, but it refuses to send signals to the transceiver or the processor module does not receive them, you need to contact a specialist. The reason may be the need to flash the communicator or control module. To complete the task, the anti-theft complex is switched off in an emergency. You can try to rebind the pager; the procedure is performed according to a specific algorithm, which is described in detail in the service manual for the system.

Why do you need a reboot?

The reasons for the incorrect operation of the StarLine A91 alarm can be various factors: from an open circuit to a short circuit. They can cause the following problems:

  • spontaneous removal of the car from the security mode;
  • turning on the siren for no reason;
  • changing the engine warm-up time;
  • lack of response to pressing buttons and keys on the key fob and the ability to turn off the alarm.

If such problems occur, the developers recommend resetting the system settings. This measure will lead to the fact that the additional functions of an alarm clock, turbo timer, start by temperature and set clock will not work in the car, and other options configured by the user will also disappear. The owner of the system will have to re-set all its tasks.

Key fob diagnostics

If the described actions did not help and the alarm key fob does not work, then to determine the causes of the malfunction you will have to disassemble it. The procedure requires the use of a soldering iron with consumables, a tester and an oscilloscope.

  1. The pager case must be opened and a visual diagnosis of the board and its main components must be performed for damage and cracks. The reason may be poor-quality soldering of the elements.
  2. If there are traces of dirt and dust on the board, they must be removed using a regular construction or drawing brush. It is not recommended to treat the board with an alcohol solution or solvents, since this may damage the capacitor devices.
  3. If the diagnostics showed disconnection of the contact elements, they must be carefully soldered back. For soldering, a soldering iron with a thin tip should be used. During the process, you need to be careful not to let tin get on other elements of the board.
  4. The voltage parameter on conductors and other components is checked using a multimeter. You need to make sure that the buttons and the LED light are in working condition.

Alexey Tretyakov showed how the procedure for checking the communicator and measuring the current consumption of the device is performed.

Using the tester, you need to diagnose the battery power consumption when you click on the buttons; the operating parameter should be no more than 10% of the total battery charge. When disassembling the device body, it is necessary to diagnose it for activation and response of the anti-theft complex when the keys are clicked.

If there is no connection between the key fob and the system, diagnostics of the capacitor tuning device is performed.

Using a dielectric screwdriver, this element can be rotated by pressing the button and the setting mode is activated. If, after turning the device 10 degrees, you do not notice the synchronization of the complex with the communicator, then the procedure is repeated. It is necessary to carry out the task only if you have skills in the field of electronics and electrical engineering. Otherwise, this may lead to breakdown of the anti-theft system.

What to do if a malfunction occurs

As with any technical device, malfunctions can sometimes occur. Let's consider several possible situations of this kind.

The range of the key fob is very important for the safety of the car. If it begins to rapidly decrease, then something needs to be done about it. In this case, the most likely cause is a dead battery. This is a possible, but not the only reason.

In order for the security system to recognize the key fob, it needs to “remember” about it, remember its data. To correct this, you need to carry out the procedure for initializing the key fob data, which is described in the operating instructions.

If the key fob stops working due to a discharged car battery, due to possible sudden exposure to an electromagnetic field or due to very low temperatures, then its operation may change unpredictably, first you need to make some attempts to correct this situation. To do this, it is necessary to carry out an emergency shutdown and, having driven some distance, check the operation of the system. Sometimes repeatedly pressing the key fob buttons can help.

If the malfunction continues to occur, then the next step is to disassemble the key fob. It needs to be unscrewed and checked for dust and dirt and for the integrity of the contacts. It is also possible for liquid to penetrate into the key fob. You need to clean it and check the health of the system.

What to do if the alarm does not respond to signals?

There are two options for what the user should do if the signaling system fails:

  1. To perform an emergency shutdown of the protection mode, use the Valet or Override button, as well as a personal password. The code is provided to the consumer along with the alarm; the button is mounted in a hidden place inside the car and is often disguised as a harness with standard wiring. To enter a password, press the key sequentially when the ignition is turned off or activated. Depending on the model of the complex, standard regulators on the center console can be used for emergency shutdown.
  2. You can increase the efficiency of activating the signal. This method is simple but effective. The car doors are opened with a key, and the control panel must be brought as close as possible to the antenna module or processor unit. The siren mute key is clicked quickly several times.

Both described options for deactivating the alarm are considered emergency; we do not recommend using them constantly.

The car does not start with the Panther remote control: how to fix it

During the entire period of operation of the Pantera alarm system, one day you encountered such a problem as the autostart stopped working. A car engine may not start for three reasons:

  • no control of a running motor - problems with programming, connection or standard wiring;
  • problem with the wires to the handbrake;
  • low battery charge.

Remote starting and stopping of the engine is carried out according to the following algorithm.

  1. Apply the handbrake and set the automatic transmission to “PARK” mode.
  2. Set the air conditioner settings.
  3. Set the ventilation to recirculation mode.
  4. Press the key with the star symbol twice. The turn signals will blink once. The engine will start.
  5. To stop the motor, press the button with the star symbol. A siren signal and a 2-second vibration signal will follow.

Video “Repair your communicator yourself”

The AUTO REZ channel provided detailed instructions for repairing the anti-theft complex control pager.

In any case, the best option to fix the problem is to re-garter the key fob. For each car alarm model, the sequence of actions and message signals are individual. If you cannot connect the key fob to the alarm system, moisture (or electrolyte that has leaked from the battery) may have gotten into it.

Good afternoon. The buttons on the Pantera 5600 alarm key fob have stopped responding. I can’t: arm, disarm, in general the buttons don’t work at all, even functional ones. Please tell me!

Problems with the hood sensor

If the car owner finds himself in a situation where the hood sensor is displayed on the key fob, first of all you need to check the hood switch. And make sure that no moisture gets on it, because this is the main reason in such situations.

To verify the true cause of the problem, you need to press the hood switch with your finger and arm the car. If the problem is resolved, then it just needs to be adjusted. If not, then you need to contact the service to diagnose the alarm unit itself and find out the true reason why it shows that the hood is open.

The key fob does not sync with the car

Go to a specialist who can reflash the alarm unit. To do this, you will have to turn off the entire system in an emergency way.

If the system does not show any signs of life, this may be due to the fact that the software has disappeared from the main unit. As a rule, it needs to be reflashed. The most unpleasant news is the failure of the central alarm unit. They cannot be repaired, they can only be replaced. Occasionally, the engine lock relay may fail.

Some cars use rechargeable batteries instead of batteries in the keys, which are recharged from the ignition switch while the car is moving. Typically, most non-factory car alarms also come with remote controls that allow the driver to open and close the car. As a result, like any battery, sooner or later it will completely lose its charge and the car key or key fob for the additional alarm will stop working. Typically, car remote keys that work with a keyless entry system use 4 types of 3-volt coin batteries: CR2025, CR2032, CR1620, CR1632.

If it has a screen, you need to check whether it lights up when you press the buttons. The key fob itself, or rather the transmitter installed inside it, may also fail. This problem occurs if an attempt was made frequently to transmit a signal by pressing the remote control button. In this situation, you can try to remove the alarm from the spare remote control, if you have one.

Situation - the security system is activated, but the alarm key fob does not work (it does not turn off). To do this, it is important to know the location of the “Valet” button in the car. One option is to insert the key into the ignition, press the button a couple of times and turn off the ignition. Open the doors and, not paying attention to the signal, press the “Unlock” button (installed on the key fob).

I press the key fob button, the LED stops blinking and stays on continuously for several seconds. I exit the transmitter programming mode. But the alarm does not respond to the new transmitter. There is an MFR-01 V1 receiver module on the board. It has a microcircuit marked in three rows: 2904 F001A JRC. What kind of microcircuit is this, maybe it’s buggy? I personally have not encountered a dead NJM2904, but the wide distribution of this chip allows it to be replaced for testing. Yes. Apparently the encoder died. Today they brought the second keychain.

There is a function to start the engine and control door locks remotely. You may need to turn off the alarm manually in case of malfunctions, loss or damage to the key fob. If the battery is discharged while driving, the key fob will not work. The key fob with two-way communication will display information about the battery status on the monitor screen. Especially if you have a complex GSM alarm system installed.

Car owners are often faced with a situation where the alarm does not respond to the key fob. Not every car owner can independently repair a car alarm or its remote control. If installing a new battery does not give the desired results, and the Starline alarm does not respond to the key fob, you should pay attention to other factors. The last case can be solved quite simply - just drive the car a few hundred meters and check the operation of the remote control. When disassembling the key fob, it is advisable to check it for operation and for the system’s response to pressing buttons. The lack of response of the alarm system to key fob commands is not the worst failure.

What to do if you can’t start the engine

The problem can arise in two cases: a problem with the key or a malfunction of the immobilizer. We will not consider the case of the key being lost or broken; it is available, but the system is not unlocked. If you have a second copy, you can try to launch it using it. If this is successful, then the problems are caused by a faulty ignition key. In this regard, if a car was purchased with only one copy, or one is lost, it is best to take care of making a duplicate of it in advance (or another option is to make an immobilizer bypasser). Today this is easy to do; there are many workshops that, for a reasonable fee, will presence will quickly be able to produce a chipped product for your car. But what to do if the second copy does not start the car engine, that is, the systems are not unlocked? Let's try to figure out this problem. Sometimes the software of this device fails, this will require its reprogramming, or as experts also call it, reflashing this unit. The essence of this procedure is to combine the new device with the standard control unit. To carry out this procedure, you need to access these programs. This can be done using a PIN code; it is issued to owners when purchasing a car on a separate card.

But please note that a password can only be purchased once, otherwise you will have to order a new unit for your car. Sometimes you have to turn off this unit in order to be able to continue operating the machine. This operation can be performed independently only if you know how to work with the car’s electrical system, otherwise you can only harm your car. It should also be taken into account that after this the security of the car will be significantly reduced. Problems may arise if the contacts of the immobilizer receiving antenna are broken. It is usually installed around the car's ignition switch. The contact can be restored; sometimes it is enough to move the connection connector, and if oxidation has occurred, you need to get rid of it. WD-40 liquid helps in such cases. Sometimes, to solve this problem, you have to install an immobilizer bypass. This unit can be purchased in retail chains or made independently, but you definitely need a chip or a chip-based device, as well as experience in repairing electrical equipment. This is not a complete list of all possible faults and their elimination. In this article, we tried to describe the situation in accessible words and tell you what to do if the immobilizer does not see the key or does not allow you to start the car. If their use is not successful and the car still does not start, you will have to contact a specialist.

The security system does not lock the doors

But even before this there was no reaction from the key fob. You can only check step 3 on your own. Everything else is only in the service center, which, as far as I know, is only in Moscow and a LIMITED list of Russian cities... The Internet can help you with the phrase SERVICE (this is the manufacturer of the PANTHER)...

Situation - the alarm systems arm the car, but the central locking does not work and the doors remain open. There are situations when the solenoids on the doors do not work or the alarm limit switches do not perform their assigned tasks (check them to ensure they are working properly). If the fuse link is intact, make sure that the central locking drive installed in the driver's door is working properly. Sometimes the malfunction is caused by a violation of the traction from the front door lock to the central locking system of the security system.

How to turn off the alarm without a key fob

Sometimes a car owner can find himself in a rather unpleasant situation. The key fob's battery runs out at the most inopportune moment. What to do in such cases? How to use a car?

Of course, you can quickly replace the battery and thus solve the problem. But what if the reason is not this, but a broken button?

There are several solutions to this problem:

  • emergency shutdown using a secret code;
  • deactivation of the security system itself.

To easily correct this situation, the car owner needs to be aware of the location of the Valet service button.

Secret Valet Button
Usually installers hide it in an inconspicuous place. So, to disable without code you need:

  • open the car door with the key. At this moment, alarms or flashes will sound.
  • Turn on the ignition, while holding down the service button, no later than 20 seconds.
  • After turning off the ignition, the driver will hear 2 siren signals. This is confirmation that the alarm has been disabled.

If you select the alarm disabling mode with a personal code, then you need to perform the following manipulations:

  • open the door with the key;
  • turn on the ignition, and within 20 seconds press the Valet button, the number of times that is programmed in the code;
  • turn off the ignition.

How to “silence” an alarm that won’t connect

The problem is this: they brought the alarm key fob to repair it, it worked, but the LED was constantly on, and the battery lasted for a week. More precisely, it works, the signal comes from it, I checked it on the TV - the frequency is about 410 MHz, but the central unit does not respond to the key fob. I can’t find the key fob diagram anywhere... Hello. I have exactly the same problem with the KGB-VS100 alarm system. I just slightly turned the bolt of the tuning capacitor, and reprogrammed the alarm to a new remote control... The door opens with the key, the siren goes off, the car does not start, the ignition turns on, the starter does not turn.

Emergency shutdown function. You can remove the lock in service modes. Any car owner should understand where the Valet button is hidden in his vehicle. It is mainly located near the fuse box in the vehicle interior. At some point, the alarm system may respond and turn on again. Forget about fines from cameras! An absolutely legal new product - NANOFILM, which hides your license plates from IR cameras (which are installed in all cities).

In general, I created a topic here a long time ago. Like he left the institute and no one in the parking lot wanted to open the car and disarm it. I started the car through Valet, drove to work and everything went fine. Antenna type). Messages on the key fob with feedback only come when you open the car and sometimes when you arm/disarm, and even then if you are standing close to the car. Step one is to change the battery.

But it only lasts for a very short time; if the voltage is lost, the key fob begins to malfunction and not work correctly. I arrived at the place, turned on the alarm - it didn’t work. I changed the battery (I always have a spare with me), but it didn’t help. I came and connected the battery and the alarm went off and locked the doors. I had to go home to get a second key fob to open the car. And regarding the battery, I always carry a new AAA in my purse with my license, because the alarm also stopped working.

Such cases occur when someone digs under the steering wheel, where the car alarm head unit is usually installed. The antenna is a small wire, usually black, just dangling, not connected to anything. If this happens, you need to check the integrity of the antenna cable and possibly replace the remote antenna.

In general, I just checked, it turns out that when they removed the front left door, they cut off the wire going to the electric lock. Then, naturally, they connected the wires back, but reversed the polarity. But I still blame the antenna. PS. Abydna, damn it: the neighbor “beeps” a cheap Chinese whitefish when he barely sees the car and it responds, and I can press buttons and swear, standing at the driver’s door... And he (apparently he) lies on my left between the dashboard and left pillar. But I still blame the antenna. What do you recommend? Is it possible to lengthen this antenna and run it up the left pillar? Or can you recommend something else? Don’t be afraid, you can even extend it to the apartment window. It’s a regular multi-core wire.

Car owners are often faced with a situation where the alarm does not respond to the key fob. As a result, you have to open the car with the key, which leads to the siren going off and not the most pleasant experience. What to do when the alarm does not respond to the key fob and how can you eliminate the reasons leading to the failure?

How to turn off a Pantera car alarm without a remote control

If you have lost your pager or its batteries are dead, use the key to open the car. Don’t pay attention to the fact that the alarm is screaming, the lights are blinking, and the interior lights are on. The security system worked normally, and you can turn it off even in the active phase.

  1. Insert the key into the ignition. Turn the ignition on, off and then back on again.
  2. Press the “Jack” key for 10-15 seconds.

The alarm mode will turn off and the engine will be locked.

Many car owners are familiar with the situation: you arrive, for example, at a supermarket, park your car and set the alarm. You come back with a bunch of packages, press the button on the key fob - and the car is like someone else’s, it doesn’t even think about answering. As a result, you open it with the key, the siren goes off, and you already remind yourself of a burglar. What to do when the alarm does not respond to the key fob? Let's figure it out.

Alarm does not respond

The battery in the key fob is dead

The first and most likely reason is if the car alarm does not work. The batteries may have run out or moved from their normal place. Think about the last time you changed them. A dimming screen or LED may indicate dead batteries.

To remedy the situation, remove the battery from the case and lightly tap it on another hard object. This may be enough to disarm the car. In general, it’s a good idea to always carry a spare battery with you.

You are in an area of radio interference

Radio waves are often jammed near sensitive enterprises, closed facilities, and airports. This could be a powerful electromagnetic field from some object. Interference can be caused by large concentrations of cars, such as in the parking lots of shopping centers, as well as by cash-in-transit vehicles (so avoid stopping next to them).

Try bringing the alarm key fob close to the place where the system receiver is installed and press the button. If this does not help, you can tow the car 200-300m from this area and try to open it there.

There are not enough conditions for wave transmission

It is possible that there is not enough operating voltage on the dead car battery to disarm the system. Also, in particularly severe frost, the key fob may slow down.

Some transmitters are damaged by repeated button presses outside the signal coverage area (for example, when the buttons are pressed in a trouser pocket or children play with a key fob).

Wear and tear of the security system

Over time, the radius of the key fob may decrease. The transmitter receiving antenna installed in the car may be faulty or errors were made when installing the alarm system.

The car is in a radio interference zone

Often, such zones are located in close proximity to closed facilities, airports and sensitive enterprises. The source of interference can be an electromagnetic field, a large concentration of transport or cash-in-transit vehicles, which is why you should not stop next to them.

You can check whether this is the reason why the alarm does not respond to the key fob by holding the device close to the receiver and pressing the corresponding key. If such measures are useless, then the car must be driven several hundred meters and the procedure repeated with the key fob.

How to reset the Starline alarm settings on the key fob

In all of the above cases, you need to reset all settings. To do this, you will need to find the Valet service button, which is located inside the cabin. As a rule, it is hidden from first glance so that an attacker cannot reach it. If you don't know exactly where it is located, it's worth checking:

  • steering column and the area near it;
  • look inside the glove compartment or under the glove box;
  • open the ashtray (if there is one) and look inside;
  • sometimes installers hide this button inside the door pockets;
  • a place next to the driver's door, on the central tunnel;
  • not far from the pedal assembly;
  • next to the fuse box (this will require removing the decorative cover).

Now you can begin the factory reset procedure. On the Starline A91 alarm system it is carried out as follows:

  • the ignition key is inserted into the lock and turned to the On position;
  • after this, press the Valet service key 10 times;
  • Now you need to turn the key to the Off position. The machine will blink its dimensions ten times and also emit ten beeps, confirming a successful transition to the user settings reset mode;
  • press the Valet button again, and the car beeps again;
  • The first button on the key fob is now pressed. A short melody will confirm that the operation was successful and all parameters are returned to factory settings;
  • To complete the procedure, you need to turn the key to the On position. The second way is to not press anything for ten seconds. The car itself will indicate that the exit has been completed by turning on its dimensions five times. The keychain will play a short melody.

It is worth remembering that for cars with automatic start, you will need to set the desired values again, as well as completely re-program all functions.

The key fob does not sync with the car

In such cases, the transmitter cannot communicate with the system, and accordingly, the alarm does not respond to the key fob. What to do in such a situation? Go to a specialist who can reflash the alarm unit. To do this, you will have to turn off the entire system in an emergency way. Repairing car alarm key fobs by reprogramming can be done on your own - as a rule, the entire process is described in the operating manual for the system and is a simple algorithm performed by pressing a certain sequence of keys.

The alarm does not close the doors using the key fob

The Panther anti-theft system is represented on the modern market by the following models:

  • with two-way communication: SPX-1, SLK-468, PR-1, SLR-5625RC, QX-270;
  • with one-way communication: CL-500, SLK-25SC, CL-700, CL-600, XS2500, CL-550, QX-44;
  • with autostart function: SLK-635RS, PR-2, SLK-675RS, SPX-2RS, SLK-650RS, LX-320, SLK-775RS two way, SLK-868RS, SLK-625RS.

These are inexpensive and reliable models of the anti-theft system. But sometimes they also have problems with their work. The key fob does not respond to buttons. The car cannot be unlocked. Let's look at the most common reasons for alarm pager failure.

  1. The remote control is broken. Fix it yourself or contact a specialist.
  2. The battery in the key fob is dead. Insert another one.
  3. The car battery is dead - there is not enough voltage to activate the system. Charge the battery or install a new one.
  4. The remote control fell out. Re-write it into the system memory.
  5. Damage to the control unit. Contact an electrician.

What to do if the alarm system stops responding to key fob signals?

Not every car owner can independently repair a car alarm or its remote control. For those who are unsure of their abilities, there are several methods for bringing a broken system back to life.

    Emergency shutdown option. Any car security system can be forcibly disabled using a special code. It comes complete with the alarm and is installed during its installation. In order to enter a digital combination, you need to use the Valet button - it is located next to the steering wheel of the car, on the center console or not far from the unit. The code can be either a sequential chain of key presses on the key fob or any other combination.

Methods for disabling an alarm without a key fob

Professionals who have encountered such problems have developed effective methods on how to turn off the alarm on a car without a key fob. They are based on a detailed study of the instructions for such security systems.

At the moment, there are two ways:

  • simple disarming, which involves manipulating a special “Valet” button;
  • disarming using a special code is a more complex method that involves dialing a special digital combination.

Before considering these two methods, car enthusiasts should have an idea of the button called “Valet”.

It is an important part of any security system and performs two functions. The first is that it is used to set up an alarm system, and the second provides for emergency unlocking

It is important to remember that if a car owner bought a used car, or went to specialized service stations or other workshops to install an alarm system, he is obliged to clarify where this button is installed in the interior of his car. This is necessary so as not to look for it when you urgently need to turn off the security system

Standard shutdown

The alarm can be turned off easily this way.

First, it must be said that such manipulations must be carried out quickly, since the alarm speaker will go off immediately after opening the car interior door.

After the driver gets into the cabin, he must take out the instructions and find the “Valet” button. The brochure (instructions) will indicate the sequence of turning on and off the ignition of the car, while simultaneously pressing this button. For example, the driver needs to turn on the ignition and immediately press “Valet” twice. After that, turn off the ignition and press it once, and then turn it on again and press the button once. After such manipulations, if everything is done correctly, the speaker stops working, and the car enthusiast can drive the car without any problems.

It is important to remember that the above is an approximate combination, so that any car enthusiast has an idea of how manipulations to turn off the alarm occur in a simple way. But for each individual security system model, this combination is unique, so before starting work you need to carefully read the instructions

Withdrawal using a special code

If the alarm model is expensive, or it includes the latest developments, then most likely it is encrypted, and in order to turn it off without a key fob, you will need to enter some kind of digital combination.

Now let's look at how to enter the code correctly. To do this, you will also need to find the above button and remember which code was set by the driver.

The process will be as follows.

Let's look at the example of a three-digit code, it is as follows: 212. After the car enthusiast gets into the car, he turns on the ignition and presses the “Valet” button (toggle switch) twice, after which the ignition is turned off.

Then it turns on again, and the driver presses the toggle switch once, after which he immediately pulls the key out of the lock. Then a similar manipulation is repeated again, only the button needs to be pressed twice again. If everything is done correctly, the alarm will be unlocked without a key fob.

You can disarm the car from the security alarm only through a special button located in the car's interior. This needs to be done quickly, but before doing this, carefully read the instructions.

What to do if the Starline alarm does not respond to the key fob

Simple steps that, despite their primitiveness, are very effective, will help you cope with Starline car alarm problems. One of them is replacing the battery in the key fob. For full operation of the transmitter, it is necessary to use only high-quality batteries that can operate for a long time. It is better not to use Chinese batteries for car alarm key fobs - they quickly discharge and render the system unusable.

The place where you purchase the battery is important. It is not worth buying batteries outside in severe frosts - after they warm up, their service life will be reduced significantly, and there is a high probability that they will discharge immediately after installation. In addition, you should have a spare set of batteries with you in case the remote control stops working.

If installing a new battery does not give the desired results, and the Starline alarm does not respond to the key fob, you should pay attention to other factors. One of the reasons for system failure may be a freezing of the transmitter, typical for the following situations:

  • The car is parked near a power line or high power radio station.
  • For some reason the battery has run out.
  • The key fob keys were pressed several times outside the range of the alarm system.

The last case can be solved quite simply - just drive the car a few hundred meters and check the operation of the remote control.

How to start the engine if the alarm does not work

Almost all modern alarm systems allow you to disable the standard security system, even if the remote control is faulty. To do this, a “secret button” is installed in the car. This button, after a certain number of presses, produces an emergency shutdown of the alarm system, including the immobilizer. This function is described in more detail in the documentation for the anti-theft system, in the section “how to turn off the alarm.” If you have a GSM security system installed, connected to the dispatch service, call the operator, identify yourself and the code word and ask to turn off the alarm in the car or disarm the car.

What to do after starting the engine

After you have successfully unlocked the anti-theft system, deactivated the immobilizer and started the engine, you need to take the car to a service center or workshop for inspection. Without this procedure, your car is defenseless against car thieves, because you will not be able to turn on the anti-theft normally and then turn it off normally. There is always a small chance that the alarm's malfunction is caused by damaged wiring or a short circuit. This may damage the on-board electronics and cause the vehicle to catch fire. Therefore, do not delay in diagnosing, repairing or setting up the anti-theft system, otherwise next time you will have to deliver the car to a service station using a tow truck.

Other reasons for the key fob not working

If the above actions do not have the desired effect, then all further measures involve carrying out repair work using a soldering iron, multimeter and oscilloscope.

  • The key fob body is opened and its contents are carefully examined for microcracks and traces of low-quality soldering.
  • Various dirt, wool, dust, and debris are removed with a soft brush. You cannot wipe microcircuits with alcohol or other solvent - this can lead to destruction of the capacitors.
  • The loose contacts and parts are carefully soldered back into place.
  • The voltage of conductors and other elements is checked with a multimeter. It is also advisable to check the functionality of the LED and buttons.

The multimeter also checks the battery power consumption when pressing a key - its value should not exceed 10% of the total battery charge.

When disassembling the key fob, it is advisable to check it for operation and for the system’s response to pressing buttons. If there is no connection, it is worth checking the tuning capacitor - there is a high probability that the reason lies there.

Using a dielectric screwdriver, the capacitor is rotated by 10 degrees while the key is pressed and the programming mode is turned on. If the system has not been synchronized, the action is repeated.

It is advisable to carry out the entire procedure described above only if you have at least minimal knowledge in electrical engineering. Otherwise, there is a high probability of complete failure of the car alarm system and the need for repair work.

The lack of response of the alarm system to key fob commands is not the worst failure. You can fix it on your own, the main thing is to correctly determine the cause of the malfunction.

Programming security and service alarm functions (Table No. 1)

Some security and service functions and alarm operating parameters can be changed using the service button and key fob without the need to access the central unit. The list of functions is given in table No. 1 below. The programming procedure is as follows: 1. With the ignition off, press the VALET service button 5 times. 2. Turn on the ignition. 5 siren signals will follow, indicating entry into the programming mode. 3. Press the VALET service button the required number of times equal to the number of the selected function. Each press of the service button is accompanied by

LED indicator lights up. By the number and duration of siren signals, you can control the number of the programmable function.

4. Within 10 seconds, press one of the key fob buttons depending on the desired state of the programmable function. Confirmation will follow

1, 2, 3 or 4 beeps from siren and key fob. The key fob display will show the number and selected state of the programmable function. 5. To exit the programming mode, turn off the ignition or wait for the system to automatically exit. Confirmation will follow

5 flashes of dimensions and a melodic signal from the key fob.

Note! When sequentially programming several functions during one programming cycle, the function number is counted in a circle after each pressing of the VALET service button.

Factory reset

It is possible to reset all programmable functions to factory presets, marked in gray in the table. To do this, you must: 1. With the ignition off, press the VALET service button 9 times. 2. Turn on the ignition. 9 siren signals will sound indicating entry into

factory reset mode. 3. Press the service button 1 time. 1 siren signal will follow. 4. Press button 1 of the key fob. There will be 1 short beep, confirming that all parameters have been reset to factory settings. 5. To exit the reset mode, turn off the ignition. As confirmation, there will be 5 flashes of dimensions and a melodic signal from the key fob.

The StarLine car alarm is a device consisting of many elements. Some of them are attached to different parts of the car, the rest are needed to control the components of the system. If a failure occurs in one of the StarLine A91 elements, resetting to factory settings can help solve the problem.
