Why this article is for you.

If you decide to purchase a mini-wash for your car and cannot decide on the choice, then feel free to read this article. Here are the basic steps to choosing a car wash using expert advice.

What to choose from.

Basically, all high-pressure apparatus (HPA) are divided into 2 large classes: professional and household. Professional AEDs will not be considered in this article, since these devices are highly specialized and the choice depends on the specific production task.

Let's take a closer look at household AEDs (mini-washes), which are highly popular among car owners.

With all the wealth of choice... it is Karcher.

Back in 1935 The German company Alfred Karcher GmbH & Co KG was founded by home-grown inventor Alfred Karcher. Already in 1950, he patented his first invention and is the founder of modern mini-washers. With the simple name “Cleaning Device”, which worked on the principle of supplying hot water under high pressure. Today, Karcher is a leader in the development and production of washing and cleaning equipment, having highly qualified engineers at its enterprise. The Kärcher miniwash is German reliability and a guarantee of quality that are known all over the world. In Russia, a 2-year warranty applies to all household appliances from Karcher.

Kerker for washing cars and more...

A mini washer is a multi-purpose device used to clean all kinds of dirt using a high-pressure water jet. A variety of replaceable attachments and chemical detergents are also used for different tasks. The main use of Karcher mini-washes was found for washing cars, but this is not the only purpose. Also, a Karcher mini-wash can cope with cleaning terraces, mossy garden paths, boats and other equipment, building facades, roofs, swimming pools, cleaning drains, etc. Using a Karcher mini-wash for washing a car will save water up to 80%, making the work easier and pleasant.

Technical characteristics of Karcher mini-washers.

The main technical characteristics that you should pay attention to when choosing a mini washer. 1. Pressure. Karcher household mini-washers can produce a pressure of 100-160 bar. In order to effectively wash a car, it is enough to have a pressure of 120-130 bar. 2. Productivity. Productivity shows water consumption per hour or per minute. On average it is 7-12 l/min. 3. Supply voltage. All Karcher household mini-washers can operate from a power supply with a voltage of 220 V. 4. Power consumption. The engine power in Karcher car washes is on average 1.5 - 2.5 kW.

Classification of mini pressure washers Karcher

The wide range of household mini-washers produced by Karcher ranges from 2 to 7 series. Below the series are discussed in more detail. Entry-level miniwashes are the cheapest, compact and light in weight. Their purpose is mainly for infrequent and short-term use (occasional cleaning of small contaminated areas). The pressure of such mini washers is not high - 100-110 bar. The working life of entry-level mini-washers is limited due to the use of industrial plastic in pump parts, which significantly reduces the operating life of the device. But it makes the device cheaper overall. Warning. Mini-washers of the K 2 series are the simplest sinks. When operating them, you will need an external source of pressurized water. Supplying water by gravity from a bucket or other container will significantly reduce the already low service life of the mini washer and the outlet pressure will drop significantly. Karcher miniwashes of the middle class are the most popular Karcher household miniwashers for washing cars. Series K 5 - designed for families with one or two cars and a limited list of other mini-wash jobs. The performance and service life of these Mini Washers is an order of magnitude higher than that of entry-level sinks. The pump parts are made of silumin, which increases the overall working life of the device. The increased outlet pressure reaches 120-140 bar. The external source of water supply can be either under pressure or by gravity; the method of water supply does not affect the productivity and output pressure. High-class mini-washers K7 are the most powerful semi-professional version of household mini-washers. Mini washers of class K7 can easily cope with large areas of contaminated surfaces. They can be recommended to families with three cars, other equipment, a private house and a cottage with a plot. The increased service life of the device is achieved by manufacturing pump parts from brass, and the pressure at the outlet of the device reaches 150-160 bar.

What's included.

And so what do we get for our money. The classic package of Karcher household mini-washers includes the mini-wash itself, a high-pressure hose of 3-12 meters, a gun, a fitting, a nozzle with pressure regulation and, depending on the model, it may have an additional nozzle - a mud cutter, a tank for chemicals. The device itself has a fine filter built into the inlet pipe in the form of a mesh. Recommendation. Use an external fine filter if the water supplied to the device is not clean enough. Using this filter will significantly increase the life of the mini washer and additionally protect the pump from small particles of debris.

What is not included in the kit.

The washer is not supplied with a low pressure hose to supply water to the device from an external source.
For these purposes, a regular garden hose with a diameter of ½ inch with a universal connector can be suitable, which connects to the fitting of the mini washer without the use of additional clamps, and is suitable for hose diameters: 1/2, 5/8 and 3/4 inches. If the sink plans to draw water from a container by gravity, then it is necessary to purchase a suction hose with a check valve, which will prevent water from pouring out of the hose when the device is turned off. When using a contact car wash, you will need separately purchased attachments in the form of various brushes and sponges. To wash your car touchless, you need a separate foam nozzle for touchless washing. Which Karcher mini washer to buy for washing your car. I would like to believe that this article will help you in choosing a Karcher mini-wash for washing your car. Many of our customers choose mini-washers of the K 5 series, as this is the best option in terms of price and quality of the device. Additional accessories purchased along with the mini-wash for comfortable car washing: foam nozzle for contactless washing (it is advisable to buy a professional one with a connector for household Karcher mini-washes); fine water filter; suction hose with check valve (if necessary); universal connector for connecting a hose (if necessary); detergents (car shampoos). When choosing a mini washer from one series, keep in mind that the technical characteristics are almost the same and may differ only in design, some design features and additional accessories included in the package. Pump power

Mini-washes can be divided into classes depending on the type and power of the pump installed in them:

  1. Budget class. Units with power up to 1.5 kW and pressure less than 110 Bar. Operating time resource – up to 36 l/h. These devices are suitable for cleaning small cars, but you need to turn off the washer periodically to allow the engine to cool down. The peculiarity is that such a device can only take water from the central water supply. If you connect it to a tank, the pressure will drop significantly.
  2. The middle class includes high-pressure washers with a power of up to 2.1 kW and a pressure of up to 140 Bar. Resource – up to 460 l/h. units can process a car for 2-3 rubles. in Week. They can already be connected to a container for collecting water, which means that cleaning agents can be added there. However, this function gradually reduces the operating life of the device, because the pump has to work 2 times more, not only squeezing out, but also sucking in water.
  3. Professional-level units are capable of operating almost continuously and servicing several machines in a row. The washing power is up to 3 kW, and the pressure is up to 160 Bar. Resource – up to 600 l/h. It is not advisable to buy a sink for home use, because... in a private home there is no way to load it with work at full capacity. After all, it can clean minibuses and trucks, and the pressure power is so high that washing can get rid of not only dirt, but also old paint.

Car wash design

Inside the car wash machine there are filters through which water passes and is purified. After this, it enters the high pressure pump and then, if the car wash is heated, into the water heating system. The hose nozzles also differ from each other, so they are chosen depending on the type of car wash. Car detergent is added to the water heating tank.

High pressure washer with or without heating, which is better?

There are two types of high-pressure apparatus: the first allows you to heat water, the second does not. Which option is better?

  1. Unheated sinks are great for cleaning most surfaces. If necessary, you can adjust the jet pressure and also add detergents to the water, which makes it possible to improve the quality of cleaning.
  2. Heated sinks operate using a thermal unit, which is usually a diesel burner. Due to this element, the dimensions of the device are slightly larger than in the previous case.

A non-heated sink should be used for “light” cleaning, that is, when the dirt is not embedded in the surface, but is easily washed off under the pressure of water. Heated models are suitable for removing grease stains, oil drips and other contaminants that are not amenable to cold water. Such washers are well suited for processing agricultural and industrial equipment. But it should be taken into account that heated devices are not “independent”: they function only when connected to the mains.
