Exterior
The first series of Aveo T-200 appeared in 1988. The same series of T-200 was slightly modified in 2004, and in 2006 the dimensions and shape of the car changed noticeably.
The new Aveo models differ significantly from the previous T-200 and T-250 series. This can be seen in numerous photos of all types of cars. First of all, the front part of the Aveo t300 impresses. The headlights a la Lancer are fascinating and work great. If you add fog lights to the base, the car will look through the six “eyes” of a predator. The rubber bottom of the bumper gently bends around curbs when parking and obediently snaps back into place. The front bumper is streamlined with a characteristic aerodynamic lip. The U-shaped hood ribs look beautiful, smoothly turning into pillars.
The rear of the car is overly narrowed. A gentler slope from the fenders to the trunk would have looked better. In addition, the swollen rear does not look very good on the elegant Aveo.
The trunk of the sedan has a very decent size (502 liters), and the hatchback - 290 liters, but if you fold the second row seats, its capacity increases to 653 liters.
The rear lighting looks a little worse than the front.
The rear door handles are hidden on the glass frame and judging by the appearance in the photo or at first glance, the car can be mistaken for a three-door.
In general, the characteristics of the case are beyond praise. This can be seen from numerous photographs.
Interior
Plastic products are not at the highest level, but the parts that the driver comes into contact with are very comfortable. All buttons and handles are chrome plated or rubberized. The instrument panel is significantly different from other cars. The design is carefully designed and it is easy to read information from the devices under any conditions.
The Aveo's interior is quite spacious, but maximum comfort is provided for the first row. From the driver's seat, the impression of a “big” car is created due to the high ceiling and the windshield located far in front.
Passengers do not experience discomfort during long trips. You can reach everywhere, and seat adjustment is provided for people up to 190 cm tall. The cabin has the required number of recesses and niches for storing necessary small items.
With a stylish interior, the salon looks beautiful in photos and in reality, and all the characteristics have been thought out to make it practical.
The steering wheel is leather-trimmed and comfortable, but it is only adjustable in height. The steering has high maneuverability. Heating and air conditioning are also provided for passengers in the 2nd row.
From numerous photos you can see all the smallest details of the interior.
Engine
The engine power of the Chevrolet Aveo t300 provides greater opportunities for improving dynamics compared to the t-200 series. It has good balance - no drops in speed or sudden acceleration. Acceleration occurs smoothly, with a normal reserve of power. The speed of 100 km/h from a standstill is reached in 11.3 seconds. In urban conditions, when braking and accelerating, the car moves confidently.
At high speeds, fuel consumption is high and noise enters the cabin, but for this class the engine characteristics are as they should be. It would be nice to have an engine larger than 1.6, but the power is still sufficient to make the necessary acceleration when maneuvering.
According to the speedometer, the maximum speed of the car is 200 km/h. On a good road you can accelerate to speeds close to the maximum, but no one tries to reach 200 km/h in such cars. Engine capabilities are limited in favor of environmental friendliness to 189 km/h. A maximum speed of 200 km/h is achieved by a turbocharged unit with a power of 138 hp, but it is used only in America.
At the 60 Hours Behind the Wheel marathon in 2012, the Chevrolet Aveo showed a top speed that exceeded 200 km/h.
Weaknesses of the Chevrolet Aveo T250
The Chevrolet Aveo T250 has been produced since 2003. The car is equipped with 1.2, 1.4, 1.6 liter engines. During the entire period of operation, car owners identified the weakest points of the Aveo T250. It is worth noting that the car turned out to be quite unpretentious in maintenance and repair. In addition, if you use it carefully, do maintenance on time, monitor the level and quality of oil in the main units, then the Chevrolet Aveo will serve you faithfully for quite a long time. For example, the engines in these cars run from 250-350 thousand km without major repairs. Below are the main diseases of the Chevrolet Aveo T250:
Engine : One of the sore spots is the oil pressure sensor. The failure of this part is indicated by the oil light on the instrument panel. It is inexpensive and easy to change. The corrugation of the air filter is also not long-lived. Here we advise you to check its condition for cracks, because dust and sand getting into the engine does not bode well. Owners often complain about oil leaks from under the valve covers, the culprit is the gasket, it costs a penny and is easy to change. Also, not very often, a failure of the throttle valve drive is noted. As for fuel consumption, this is certainly not the strength of this car model. Motorists see a way out of this situation by installing gas equipment. Fortunately, the use of GO with these engines has proven itself well.
Chassis The suspension is perhaps the weakest point of the Aveo T250. When used on our roads, spare parts such as hub bearings, stabilizer bushings, rear shock absorbers, front control arm silent blocks turn into consumables. Stable up to 60 thousand km. mileage, one of the above requires replacement. Sometimes at an interval of 40-80 thousand km. There is a tapping sound from the rack. The reason for this is the wear of the right gear shaft bushing.
Electrical In the range of 60-120 thousand km. There are cases of oxidation of the headlight contacts, as a result of which there is a possibility of the headlight range control motor burning out. There are also cases where it is necessary to replace the generator bearing after 70 thousand km. mileage
Body In general, the quality of the paintwork on the Aveo in the T250 body is at the same level. Even after 5-7 years of operation, the body is resistant to corrosion. What cannot be said about cars painted exactly white. There are body cracks in the area of the rear arches, but this is typical only for Aveos assembled in Ukraine. By the way, after 2008, this jamb was corrected.
Cooling Often, in the range of 60-90 thousand km, problems with engine overheating occur. This is due to a broken thermostat. The thermostat begins to either leak or untimely release coolant in a large circle. With a mileage of 40-80 thousand km. There are times when the expansion tank cap begins to “siphon.” The reason for this is a stuck valve.
Interior In principle, as with all cars, over time, extraneous sounds and various squeaks appear in the interior. In our case, they come from the front panel and from the rear seat back lock.
Gearbox The gearbox here is more or less stable. According to statistics, under severe operating conditions, such as in the city, the release bearing requires replacement in the interval of 50-100 thousand km. As for the clutch, it may need to be replaced in the interval of 100-150 thousand km. Much also depends on the quality and driving style.
To summarize, we can say that the Chevrolet Aveo T250 is a fairly comfortable, reliable and inexpensive car for the money. The Aveo T250 was assembled in Russia, Ukraine, Korea, and Europe, so weak points and sores may differ. The main problem is the gasket under the valve cover, which allows engine oil to pass through, and the weak point can be attributed to increased fuel consumption.
Reviews from Aveo owners
There is a lot of controversy about the Aveo budget car, which has good technical characteristics and looks like expensive models. Judging by the photos and capabilities, it goes beyond class B.
Owner reviews about interior quality
- You have to get used to the unusual “motorcycle” instrument panel and digital speedometer, but there are no problems with them.
- This is not visible in the photo, but a significant part of the elements are made of hard and cheap plastic. The plastic itself is creaky and scratches quickly appear on it.
Owner reviews about the car's performance
- Engine power 115 hp normal, but when it accelerates, it makes a squeal, which does not bring pleasure to those in the cabin. But the necessary traction is provided by good technical characteristics and a wide range of engine speeds.
- The five-speed manual transmission is noisy at 120 km/h and is not recommended for those who like to accelerate to high speeds. The car is maneuverable and accelerates quickly. Reviews say that this is not always the case. In some cases, the automatic transmission may jerk and brake when accelerating.
- When the turn signal is turned on for a long time, an audible warning is triggered. If the car changes direction and accelerates, the turn signal automatically turns off.
- The interior is poorly protected from external noise.
- The stove begins to make noise. To prevent noise, the fan motor is lubricated.
On our roads, the Aveo has too little ground clearance. Numerous reviews speak about this. The clearance can be increased by 20 mm by installing spacers under the thrust bearing at the front (very easy to do) and under the springs at the rear. Spacers for them should be machined. After this, the wheel alignment should be measured and, if necessary, adjustments made. There are conflicting debates and reviews about this method, but there are technical solutions for doing it yourself.

Anna Stepanova 07/08/2013:
“We bought an Aveo to replace the 2005 Lacetti hatchback.
I chose for a very long time, after reading an ocean of reviews. Judging by them, all classmates have no less jambs than in the new Aveo. Solaris was dropped after the director of the car service center where we were serviced spoke very negatively about the quality of this model. I don’t like Rio’s appearance, and the reviews about her are either sharply positive or sharply negative. We ended up choosing between Polo and Aveo. In terms of price-equipment ratio, Aveo won by a huge margin. We mainly bought into the LTZ's 6 airbags and Eurocap's 5 stars. It’s difficult to get a Polo, even in an average configuration, for the money that the Aveo LTZ costs. In addition, I wish there were fog lights. Once we were driving from Vyborg at night, and the Lacetti’s low/high beams were on. We got there only thanks to the fact that we had fog lights. They started calling dealers. We decided that we would not wait, but would take from what was available. I wanted to have time to purchase a Korean-assembled car (yes, I know about Kaliningrad, if anything), but only Russian-assembled cars were already on order. After painfully reading reviews about dealers, the choice fell on Laura on Vyborgsky. They ended up having two cars left in the LTZ configuration (blue gray and white). I agreed with the seller to go look at the car before pre-sale preparation. (I also read a lot about how dealers know how to deceive customers, so I asked to go to the warehouse first). I inspected the car as best I could, despite the fact that it was still all taped up and the interior was littered with boxes. I found a small chip on the front fender. They knocked off 5 thousand so as not to repaint it (although the problem was trivial). In the end, we finally decided to take it. The car itself cost 535,000 (after a discount and with a white body color). From additional The equipment was installed only with the Starline alarm, which was on sale for 12,000 (here there was no need to save money, because the alarm had already failed twice). I bought mats and mudguards (which come as additional equipment) at the market. 3-3.5 times cheaper. The car was prepared in 5 days (it was delivered a day later than promised, but that’s okay). The first feeling behind the wheel is as if you are sitting in a crossover. After the Lacetti, the Aveo seemed much taller in feel, and in fact too: you sit higher, especially if you raise the seat all the way up (with my height 170). The next thing I noticed was the softness of the ride. Maybe because the Lachika had low-profile tires, and our roads were not at all soft. And here is the 16th casting. I really liked the review. I was still afraid that with such wide A-pillars nothing would be visible. But they don't interfere. Rear view mirrors are also very informative. The eternal stumbling block is the electronic speedometer. I think it all depends on the person. Not even from his habits. I sat down and drove off. I got used to it instantly. Everything is very convenient and clear. Nothing flashes before your eyes, nothing distracts. Everything is visible against the sun. Well, those who are annoyed by numbers instead of arrows - there’s nothing you can do about it. Ergonomics in Aveo are also beyond praise. Everything is at hand. There is no need to reach out anywhere. There are many niches into which you can stuff things. Spacious storage compartment. I almost never use the top cover. I put the phone closer. I really like the design of the torpedo. Modern, comfortable, beautiful. In the dark, everything glows pleasantly with blue light. Yes, of course there is solid plastic of various kinds, there is no fabric upholstery of the doors (I suffered for a long time after the Lacetti), and the most disgusting and easily soiled plastic lies not somewhere, but on the door armrests. That is, there are always continuous prints. But at the same time, the plastic fits normally (at least for me), and is pleasant to the touch (everywhere, except for hell on the armrests). The LTZ also has a lot of chrome parts. In the LT, for example, there is no chrome on the interior handles, and this immediately makes the doors from the inside look an order of magnitude more miserable than they actually are. A few more words about the interior: leather steering wheel... Well, yes, leather is leather, but very rough, kind of gray. But anything is better than plastic. Further: about the armrest-like-in-a-bus, buckets of slop have already been poured out, however, personally I find it very comfortable. He's exactly where he needs to be. You put your hand in, and you drive, and you feel comfortable. But again, everything is subjective. The salon is more or less spacious. If the driver is 170 tall, then there is plenty of space in the back. If you move the driver's seat a little further, everyone is sitting in the back. But the trunk! All trunks have a trunk. Huge. For trips to the countryside - this is it. Well, the interior is an epic fail: there are no pockets in the rear doors, and there is no pocket behind the driver’s seat either. Stuff everything as you like into the pocket behind the front passenger seat. And this is in the richest configuration. They stopped making the third headrest at the back. Previously, they say, he was. Saved on safety, well done. Driving performance: softer than the Lacetti, but worse in maneuverability. It also takes turns worse. But at high speeds it does not sway, although the grip on the road again feels worse. Here I must say that after purchasing the Aveo, we rented a 2013 Polo sedan for a trip to Romania. We have driven more than 5000 km. After that, I almost regretted that I didn’t buy Polo. How much more precise is his control! And the road grip is better. After the Polo, in the first days of using the Aveo, I couldn’t shake the feeling that cotton wool had been stuffed into the pedals and gearbox. The Polo also seemed more powerful (4 people + a trunk full of suitcases, and the Polo calmly climbed an impressive mountain in second gear). But on the other hand, we stalled the Polo very often, not calculating the pedal stroke. The Aveo stalled once, stupidly forgetting to turn off the speed when stopping. That is, stalling on the Aveo is almost impossible. The Polo loses to the Aveo, it seems, only in terms of interior design (at the base it looks like the harsh 90s) and in terms of visibility (hug and cry after the Aveo’s huge head-on). Otherwise Polo is wonderful. I'm not even talking about the roads we drove on in Ukraine. There are a lot of reviews and videos online about what happened to the roads after the winter. We found ourselves in such pits, but Polo didn’t give a damn. Only one cap was lost along the way and that’s all. I don’t know if Aveo would have covered the same route. The advantages of the Aveo are that the lower part of the mirrors is black, rough plastic. When one madam drove too close in a traffic jam and folded the mirror of her car against the mirror of mine, nothing was scratched. Another tense moment is short speeds. They are really short. At 90 km/h it’s already 3000 rpm. After 120 km/h the cabin becomes unbearably noisy, although after 130 km/h the noise for some reason begins to subside. Well, the problem of sound insulation is solved by installing additional sound insulation. That's probably all. I can only add that in the LTZ configuration you suddenly get cruise control, and for me Bluetooth is a separate bonus. You can listen to music from your phone in the cabin, make and receive calls. Control of music and phone on the steering wheel, as well as cruise control with an on-board computer. For me, these are all unknown animals after the Lacetti. I'm mastering it. The paint layer is very thin. I accidentally opened the door directly into the bicycle pedal at the dacha. The steel did not bend, but small chips remained. Black on white... It needs to be covered up. The signaling system malfunctioned twice, but this seems to have nothing to do with the quality of the car, but rather has to do with the crooked hands of those who installed it. Something rattles periodically in the driver's door. It seems like it’s a little early for crickets, but there was this rattling sound from the very beginning. Sometimes it's incredibly annoying. I haven’t found the cause of the sound yet.” expandcollapse
