I bought a “Moscow” Logan sedan, of course, not new, since they have not been produced since December 2015. The check light did not light up. I thought that everything was fine with the motor, but I recently found out that in some cars this lamp is not connected! If the check light does not light up when you turn on the Renault Logan ignition, then the connection has not been made. But when the starter was running, my light flashed! When the starter is operating, as mentioned above, the lamp may change state. But this does not mean that it was connected to the ECU.

Externally, there are no differences between Renault Logan with the warning light active and turned off.

Do not try to connect the indicator if the Euro-2 standard is indicated in the passport. If nothing is indicated, check the equipment version for the presence of a probe (see above). There are not many options here - “Euro-2” or “Euro-3”.

Error 000970 is deciphered as follows: short circuit of the fuse block contacts. This problem is easy to fix on your own; even a novice driver can do all the work. To successfully complete the task, you need to equip yourself with the following equipment: a special lubricant for cleaning and processing contacts, a flat-head screwdriver. The procedure for eliminating 000970 is as follows:

  1. We de-energize the car by disconnecting the battery terminals.
  2. Remove the cover from the fuse box.

  4. We release the fastening elements of the block and unclip the side latches.

Engines

The Opel Zafira engines are identical to those installed on the Opel Astra. They are represented by petrol 1.6 l (100 hp), 1.8 l (116 and 125 hp), 2.2 l (147 hp) and the top 2.0 l OPC (192 l .With.). The mechanical part of the engines themselves is very reliable; interruptions in operation are mainly caused by failed sensors. On cars with a mileage of more than 200,000 km, the mass air flow sensors and the crankshaft sensor have to be replaced. With faulty spark plugs, the ignition module often becomes a consumable with a service life of 30-60 thousand km. Sometimes after 200-300 thousand km the engine ECU dies. Replacing with a working unit will cost 12-18 thousand rubles.

The 1.6 CNG engine is designed to run on methane. As a backup option, it is possible to operate on gasoline with a fuel reserve of about 15 liters. When running on gasoline, engine thrust is significantly reduced, since the octane number of gas is 130, and gasoline is only 95-98. A possible problem, especially on cars of 2001-2004, is the spontaneous switching of the engine to gasoline power. The reason is that the resistance of the solenoid coil on the gas cylinder valve is too low, which causes a short circuit. The problem is solved by replacing all the electromagnet coils along with the cylinder wiring harness. If the engine starts to misfire when running on gas, the injectors will most likely need to be replaced. Rarely, interruptions in operation are associated with loss of tightness in the system. Difficulties with gas charging arise due to loss of tightness between the filling units; as a result, gas partially leaks out, and the filling valve freezes and freezes.

Gasoline engines of 1.6 liters and 1.8 liters are simple and not expensive to maintain. The timing belt drive is recommended to be replaced every 60,000 km. The first major overhaul is unlikely to be needed before 400,000 km. When replacing the air filter, carefully inspect the mass air flow sensor grille. Often, due to a clogged second crankcase ventilation channel, oil begins to flow through the first channel in the throttle body. Overfilling the oil can also contribute to this. The first signs of increased oil consumption appear after 200,000 km. Due to the aluminum washer, which is highly oxidized and does not allow the rod to move freely, after a mileage of about 160 - 180 thousand km, the EGR valve jams, which causes interruptions in engine operation.

The 2.2 liter petrol engine has a timing chain drive. Despite the seeming eternity of such a drive, it is better not to delay replacing the chain. The cost of this will be about 10-15 thousand rubles. The weak point of the engine is the aluminum block, which cannot withstand overheating.

Diesel engines are economical and reliable, but under one difficult condition - powered by high-quality fuel. EGR cleaning will be needed after 120-150 thousand km. As a rule, the engine calmly nurses 250,000 km before the first minor problems. The main problem that may arise is fuel injection pump failure due to air leaks (airing of the system). The pump ECU is located on the fuel injection pump, and the control transistor is cooled by diesel fuel. Due to air leaks and lack of cooling, the transistor may overheat and burn out. Its repair is very expensive. Air leaks occur over time: in return pipes/tees, when the tank-filter-injection pump tract loses tightness, after a poorly executed fuel filter replacement (the filter cover gasket is tightened skewed). A design disadvantage of the fuel supply system is the absence of a booster hand pump (“frog”). Many people solve the problem by installing it themselves. Another problem with diesel engines arises when replacing spark plugs, which often break off. As a result, you will have to remove the cylinder head and drill out the remains.

The pump lasts for over 70,000 km, and the thermostat for at least 100,000 km. Failure of the latter often causes difficult starting and interruptions in engine operation. The radiator of the cooling system may leak after 150,000 km. The poor location of the fan control unit - under the front bumper on the left - limits its service life to about 200,000 km.

On Zafiras older than 10 years, a ringing sound may occur in the muffler area. Don't rush to change it. Often the cause is a heat shield that has rusted over time and settled onto the muffler. In search of the cause, carefully examine this place. Due to corrosion of the area with the engine number printed on it, sometimes problems arise with reading it.
